Installation Instructions
GUIADO DE LA TUBERA
La tubera debe ser guiada para permitir slo el movimiento axial.
La distancia entre guas axiales ser segn figs. 1 y 2 y se utilizan restricciones en los cambios de direccin. Las tuberas de
vapor deben ser instaladas de forma que puedan ser drenados
los condensados.
PIPE GUIDING
The pipe must be guided to allow axial movement
only. Spacing of guides according to Figs. 1 and
2. Install anchors at changes of direction. Steam
pipes should be installed so that the condensate
can be drained.
L1= max 4 DN
PIPE SUPPORTS
Sliding or roller support should be used to prevent
the pipe offsetting or lifting. Do not use swinging
suspensions with axial bellows.
L2= 0,7 L3 (mm)

ANCHOR POINTS
All lenghts of pipe where bellows are used to take
up expansion should be fixed at both ends with
an anchor. Only one bellows between two anchors points.
The anchor points have to absorb the thrust of
the expansion joint as well as the frictional forces
from the guides. Install anchors at changes of direction.
LLENADO Y PRESURIZACIN DE LA INSTALACIN

Antes del llenado y la prueba de presin se deben asegurar firmemente todas las guas y puntos fijos en su posicin.
No sobrepasar la presin de prueba permitida para el compensador.
FILLING AND PRESSURISING THE INSTALLATION

Before filling and pressure testing, ensure that
anchors are firm and all guides in position. Do not
exceed the permissible test pressure of the Expansion joint.
MOVIMIENTO (CARRERA AXIAL)

El mximo valor de movimiento del compensador est indicado
en nuestro catlogo.
Estos valores sin embargo no deben ser utilizados en su totalidad
cuando la instalacin tiene frecuentes cambios de temperatura.
Para movimientos laterales ver ejemplo de instalacin (fig. 1).
EXPANSION
The max. permissible expansion is marked on the
expansion joint in values. These values, however, should not fully be used in systems with
very frequent temperature charges. For lateral
movement see installation example (fig. 1).
SENTIDO DE FLUJO
En compensadores con camisa interior prestar especial
atencin a la posicin de montaje en funcin de la direccin
del fluido y posicin de las camisas interiores (fig. 3).
FLOW DIRECTION
In expansion joints with internal sleeve take care
to the assembly position in function of the flow
direction and internal sleeve position (fig. 3).
VIBRACIONES
Los compensadores deben
ser instalados lo ms cerca
posible del equipo emisor de
las vibraciones. Debe ser colocado un punto fijo tan cerca
como sea posible del compensador por el otro extremo
(fig. 4). El compensador ser
instalado en posicin de reposo (neutral) sin pretensado.
VIBRATION TAKE-UP
The Expansion joint should be installed as close
as possible to the vibrating equipment and an anchor should be provided as close to the bellows
as possible (fig. 4). The bellows is installed in the
neutral position, without cold draw.
RECOMENDACIONES GENERALES
Los compensadores axiales que no hayan sido pretensados en
nuestros talleres tienen que ser pretensados en el montaje de
acuerdo con el valor de extensin (estirar el compensador cuando sea para trabajar en caliente) o el valor de compresin (comprimir el compensador cuando sea para trabajar en fro) indicados en nuestros catlogos (fig. 5).
Para un clculo exacto del valor de pretensado en funcin de la

temperatura ambiente, temperatura de diseo y el movimiento
efectivo de la tubera, ver la ecuacin indicada en nuestro catlogo general.
Compensadores tipo Kappa-A. Estos compensadores ya se suministran pretensados para efectuar todo el movimiento en
compresin (-).
Los compensadores no deben ser sometidos a estrs de torsin
durante su instalacin (fig. 6). Esto es particularmente importante para los compensadores con extremos roscados. Los compensadores deben ser protegidos contra golpes, proyecciones
de soldadura u otras partculas que puedan producir daos en el
fuelle.
Colocar el aislamiento en tuberas de vapor y compensadores en

ella instalados correctamente antes de su puesta en marcha para prevenir daos debidos a golpes de ariete.
Atencin! Los golpes de ariete destruyen los compensadores,
por lo tanto se debe prestar particular atencin a los drenajes de
las tuberas de vapor.
Se deben evitar los daos por corrosin (tratamientos del agua,
prevencin de electrlisis en lneas de cobre o galvanizados,
etc.).
GENERAL RECOMENDATIONS
Axial expansion joint which will not be cold drawn
in our works have to be cold drawn in accordance the value of extension (extended the expansion joint when works in hot pipes) or compression (compresed the expansion joint when
works in cold pipes) indicated in our catalogues
(fig. 5).
For exactly calculation of the pre-set values in
function of room temperature, dessing temperature and effetive expansion of the pipe, please
see the equation indicated in our in general catalogue.
COLD DRAWN COMPENSATORS

Type Kappa-A and assembly unit. These expansion joints are already cold drawn in our works by
50% of the permissible movement.
Attention: The anchor points of the pipelinehave
to be solidly anchored before the clips are removed.
The bellows should not be stessed (torsion) during installation (fig. 6). This is particularly important for expansion joint with screwed ends. The
bellows should be protected from damage or
blockage, wed splash, plaster or concrete particles.
Please note! Water hammer destroys bellows,
therefore pay particular attention to proper
drainage of steam pipes.
Care has to be exercised to avoid damage by corrosion. (Water treatment, prevention of electrolyte
formation in copper lines or galvanized lines,
etc.).
PRESIN DE OPERACIN Y PRUEBA

Para la presin de operacin ver coeficiente de reduccin (Kp)
en funcin de la temperatura (catlogo general).
La presin de prueba permitida es segn norma DIN 2401 indicada en (fig. 7).
OPERATING AND TEST PRESSURE

For the pressure operation see the coefficient of
reduction (Kp) in function of the temperature
(general catalogue).
The permissible test pressure as per DIN 2401
is indicated in (fig. 7).
