2 FIRMWARE README ####################################################################### NOTE: This ReadMe provides information for PowerConnect 3024, 3048, and 5012 v6.1.2 firmware. ####################################################################### CRITICALITY ####################################################################### Recommended - Dell recommends applying this update during your next scheduled update cycle. The update contains feature enhancements or changes that will help keep your system software current and compatible with other system modules (firmware, BIOS, drivers and software). ####################################################################### DESCRIPTION ####################################################################### * This is the firmware release 6.1.2 for the Dell PowerConnect 3024, 3048, & 5012 networking switches. * This firmware is transferable to the switch via a TFTP server. * Please read the documents in the zip file for further enhancements and fixes. ####################################################################### FIXES/ENHANCEMENTS ####################################################################### * Fixed a bug where IGMP packets were not tagged properly. * Fixed a bug where default VLAN's settings would not survive a configuration upload followed by a configuration download. * Reverted the buffer allocation scheme back to that of Release 6.0.4. * Removed the option of setting the rowStatus to notInService/disable for the SNMP host table and the SNMP community table. Also removed the status column in the host and community tables. * Fixed a bug where IGMP queries would cause unhandled interrupts. * Modified the wording for the login screen. * Added logout/exit command for telnet sessions. * Fixed a bug where multicast data would cause a loop in Gigabit trunking ports if disconnect and then reconnect the forwarding port. * Fixed a bug where the static multicast group membership was not consistent among all trunked ports.

* Fixed a bug where pause frames, LACPDU's and EAPOL's were forwarded when STP is disabled. * Fixed a bug where sending multicast traffic from multiple MAC's would freeze up the CPU. * Fixed a bug where our SNMP responses were not encoded correctly which caused MRTG to fail. * Fixed a bug which caused Cisco's TFTP server to crash after uploading config. ####################################################################### ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ####################################################################### NOTE: Perform the upgrade procedure from the console interface via an RS232 serial port. When using a telnet session or web interface alone, your connection to the switch is not available until the switch has entered forwarding mode.
