Compound Harmony, with dark emphasis

Typeface selection(s): Before the Rain

Calamity Jane
Typeface source: DaFont Images were taken from: http://www.delempicka.org/

The fonts I chose for the timeline incorporated a bit of drama and the 1920s feel. The Before the Rain typeface was used for Tamara de Lempickas name because the font is a dramatic, free owing script that adds character and draws the users attention to it. Tamara was a very glamourous woman; described to be something of a celebrity, though she was an artist. No boring typeface should be used when writing her name as a header. The other typeface, Calamity Jane, has a bit of an older, 1920s art deco feel to it. While I didnt explicitly incorporate the lines that usually represented the art deco style into my style, I used this typeface to give it a 1920s feel. It is also a bit easier to read than script typefaces. Because Tamara de Lempickas art does an interesting job of combining voluptuous curves with hard lines, I opted to soften the e ect of the timeline and use a natural free owing, organic line for the line forming the timeline. I wanted to highlight the organic and curvy nature of her art because she was by nature a sensual woman, having had many sexual encounters with both men and women. I wanted to emphasize this, as well as have the lines represent the ups and downs and constant changes she experienced in her lifetime. I kept the timeline simple and minimalistic. Most of her paintings seemed darker, or had darker backgrounds. A lot of times it seemed she used an accented harmony in her works. For my color harmony, I opted to make it compound harmony because I have so many of her paintings on the timeline, all which have a di erent color harmony. The compound harmony seemed to be the best compromise.
