All licenses are perpetual, and support multicore/multiprocessor computers at no additional charge. The Floating Network License (FNL) supports cluster and cloud computing at no additional charge.

Subscription program
All updates and technical support are provided for the 12 months following the purchase. Further upgrades and technical support are available for the subsequent year at an annual cost of 20% of the then-current license price. Lapsed subscription renewals are subject to a restart fee of 15% of the then-current license price in addition to the subscription fee for the lapsed time and for the next 12 months.

License information
The COMSOL Academic Discount Plan allows for the license to be used in academic research and teaching only. No commercial or government use is permitted. 1 CPU: CPU-locked license: a single individual may use one concurrent session of the software on a single designated computer at any given time. 2 NSL: Named Single User: a single named individual may use at most one concurrent session of the software. NSL and CPU-locked licenses do not permit access to or use of the software over a network. 3 FNL: Floating Network License: price per concurrent user. 4 Requires COMSOL Multiphysics. 5 Requires the Structural Mechanics Module. 6 Includes all of the CAD Import Module functionality. 7 Requires the Structural Mechanics Module or the MEMS Module.
