EDM 1. Linear Motor Drive System The advantages of applying Linear Motor System equipped with Linear Scale in the field of Die-Sinker EDM are: high speed, high response, low friction factor of axis movement and high follow up performance (minimum positioning lag). Years ago, CHMER had realized the unavoidable assembly tolerance existing in the coupling of ball-screw and the axis in addition to the backlash increasing with the time of machine use and then started dedicating to the development of Linear Motor System in order to ensure all customers could, in the long term, obtain consistency of accuracy on the parts and moulds they produce under proper instruction of operation and maintenance to avoid the loss of money and productivity because of scrapped parts. ( , , , ,, ) 2. High Speed movement In addition to the high follow up performance and high positioning accuracy, Linear Motor has also greatly enhanced the traverse speed of traditional Ball-Screw drive. (, , ) Linear Motor Traverse Speed Positioning Lag 18 - 21 m / min NO Ball-Screw 2 - 5 m / min YES

3. Consistent spark gap For obtaining the best surface roughness, keeping consistent spark gap is also an essential in addition to optimum setup of erosion condition. Vacuum suction can more effective and equally bring the chips out of the cavity to eliminate secondary discharge that cause irregular and excessive electrode wear, which can result in inconsistent spark gap. 4. No Flushing Chip removal Vacuum suction can be generated by the outstanding high acceleration of Linear Motor drive motion, which can lead the air into the cavity to mix with the tiny chips after electrode retracts with 1.0G acceleration. Then, once the electrode goes down to the cavity, the air is expelled and in the meantime brings the chips accumulating around the electrode rapidly and evenly from the cavity, compared to traditional flushing way.

5. Graphite Rib Machining For Ball-Screw drive Sinker EDM, chip removal could become more and more difficult with increasing work depth is the main reason that cause various surface roughness and long work time. However, the above problems can be effectively resolved by applying Linear Motor technology, with the vacuum suction that brings out the chips from deep inside of the slot. ( )

6. Unique CHMER motion control and monitor To reduce the force impact on the mechanical structure coming along with the momentum caused by the acceleration and deceleration of axial movement, S type motion was developed to ramp up and decrease the speed gradually instead of reaching peak speed immediately. Fully Closed-Loop system with Glass Scale feedbacks the actual position directly to motor driver for real-time monitoring. ( , S )

7. High rigidity and water cooling system (for spindle) Patented spindle mechanism mounted with high quality Linear Guide Way produced by HI-WIN ensures no vibration and noise appear while work table is moving. In addition, pneumatic counter-weight design and cooling system of the spindle reduces the work load of Linear Motor and avoids mechanical inaccuracy caused by the heat generated. HI-WIN ,
