Fisher House Benefit Concert New Email and Facebook Page
There is a new email address for the Council and Assembly. The new email address is bristolctkofc@gmail.com This address has been set up to send email out on behalf of the Council or the Assembly to all members. The reason for doing this is so that we have one address to send out notifications even if and when officers change. The Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator will have access to this email address. Other may be given access to it at the GK and FNs discretion. If you would like to be added to the master email list send an email to bristolctkofc@gmail.com with a note to add you. On November 16 at 6pm there will be a benefit concert benefiting Fisher House. The concert will be held at the Knights of Columbus Palos Council 35 in Bristol, CT and will feature Irish entertainer Seamus Kennedy. In his thirty years of professional performing, Seamus has taken his music from Alaska to Florida, Maryland to California and a host of stops in between, playing everything from the pubs to the concert halls. As a result, he is a master showman of exceptional musical skills and unmatched repartee. Seamus has released eleven CDs of both contemporary and traditional material. Fisher House Foundation is best known for the network of comfort homes built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers nationwide and in Europe. Fisher Houses are beautiful homes, donated to the military and Department of Veterans Affairs. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful time - during the hospitalization for a combat injury, illness or disease. Tickets are $25 and will include dinner. There will also be a 50/50 and raffle. Raffle prizes have been donated by Seamus Kennedy, a wide range of musicians, the New Britain Rock Cats, the Hartford Wolfpack, and the Boston Red Sox. Come out and support a good cause and have a fun night full of laughter and good music. For more information or to purchase tickets contact Mike Corey, 860-518-4124 or email mpcorey@gmail.com We also have a new Facebook page. A Message from Our State Deputy

On Sunday, October 20, St. Marys Church will be holding its Annual Fall Fundraiser to benefit the ongoing capital improvements to our Church. As you may be aware, St. Marys is the first Catholic Church in New Haven having been established in 1832, and is the second oldest Church in Connecticut. Construction on our current Church began in 1872 and was completed in 1874. With a Church of this age, ongoing capital improvements have been, and continue to be a necessity. In the past year, we have accomplished or started the following projects: restoration of the Rose window, donated by the Dominican Laity in the early 1900s; restoration of a large window in our steeple, which is original to the Church; construction of new larger confessionals, making them handicapped accessible with audio assistance; the re-wiring of the entire Church and the restoration of the hanging chandeliers, completely modernizing our electrical and lighting system; and updates to the Sacristy area, including the installment a much needed bathroom. We are extraordinarily grateful for the years of support and financial assistance of the Knights of Columbus Supreme Council. This Fall Fundraiser is part of the parishs ongoing efforts to assist with our Churchs capital improvements. This Fall Fundraiser is part of the parishs ongoing efforts to assist with our Churchs capital improvements. I am writing to you to ask for your consideration in supporting this Fundraiser by placing an ad in our Souvenir Ad Booklet; as well as attendance at the event. I thank you in advance for your consideration and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly at 203-562-6193, ext. 247. Sincerely yours in Christ,

Grand Knights Report

Dear Brother Knights, I hope that all brother knights and their families have a safe start to the autumn season. As we move into October I will be starting a new tradition that I hope will continue, every monthly meeting we will light a candle to symbolize first a remembrance of some historical or religious event that took place in that month and second the light will be a guide for all of those who lost their way in their religious life. If anyone has a request please contact me before the meeting. Nothing says that we have to do only one event. For the month of September we focused on the heroes that lost their lives on 9/11. For October will be focused on the people of the tri-state area that we devastated by super storm Sandy last year. The next first degree of the council will be held on November 4th at 7pm. "In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends." Martin Luther King Jr. Remember as Knights of Columbus we have to stand together and speak out against the attacks on the church and to aid our brother knights in whatever way we can. Vivat Jesus! Faithful Navigators Report

Dear Sir Knights, Remember that the next 4th degree meeting will be on Monday October 7th at 7pm. The Inner/Outer Sentinels and Pilot should be there by 6:30pm to help set up. The next 4th Degree exemplification will be Sunday November 3rd at St. Josephs Church in Danbury. It will begin with registration at 10:30am. The cost for candidates is $70 and this includes their banquet ticket. Guests may purchase a banquet ticket for $50 and the ladys program is $20. Any Knight wanting to assist with colors should muster at the church by 9:30am. If you have any questions please contact me. I have accepted the position of District Deputy for District 24. I do not anticipate this to affect my duties to Assembly 108 and will make every effort to be at all meetings. Once I get settled in the position I will look for a District Warden. Ideally a candidate for this position will come from another Council as our Council already has many members serving in District and State positions. Finally, Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary to those celebrating in October. Please remember to continue to pray for those who are sick or in distress and all members of the armed forces.
