Woodruff Church of God e-Edition Newsletter October 29, 2013

Pastors Notes: October has been designated nationally as Pastor/Clergy Appreciation month. I fully understand that what makes the church function is her weekly volunteer force. Each one of those people are just as dedicated and just as called as those we refer to as clergy. Yet there are men & women with definite calls of God on their lives and they devote themselves to that call of God. Woodruff Church of God is blessed to have a wonderful ministerial staff. I wanted, on behalf of the Woodruff Church of God, to express our love and appreciation to each one of them.
James & Wanda Shealy - Pastor Shealy is our Pastor Emeritus & Senior Adult Pastor. We have been blessed to have him pour into our congregation now for close to 30 years. What a blessing and honor it has been to have him lead us, teach us, preach to us and love us. I personally am thankful for all he has done for me and I know each one of you feel the same. He and his wife are doing an excellent job leading our Senior Adult ministry and Woodruff Church of God wants them to know that we love and appreciate them so much. Jason, Stephanie, Savannah & Tanner Fowler - Pastor Jason or "PJ" does a wonderful job leading ACTS Student Ministries. They have a genuine love and compassion for the youth of our church & community and actively engage them in living a disciplined Christ like life. Jason has picked up many other "hats" to wear in ministry as well. He also serves as our Christian Education Director as well as helping out with our website. He also was instrumental in helping us get our church services streamed online. Words cannot express our love and appreciation to Pastor Jason and his wonderful family. Donna, Garren, Faith & Cole Burdette - Pastor Donna has lived in Woodruff all her life. She is a Woodruff Church of God product. She's faithfully volunteered and helped out anywhere she could, all the time loving on children. It is no surprise that the Lord called her to become a Children's Pastor. She and her family are doing a wonderful job leading our children. The Extreme Kidz Children's ministry has experience great growth under their leadership. She has a passion to see children's lives be changed and for them to have a personal encounter with God. We are so blessed to have Pastor Donna and her family as part of our ministerial team. We love and appreciate you. Buster & Betty Ball - Who does not know Buster Ball? The fact is, you'll be hard pressed to find anyone around here that does not know him or has not heard about him. That is a great testimony as to the outreach & visiting Rev. Ball does. There are not many homes in Woodruff that Buster has not been in. And when someone needs prayer, they know who to call....Buster Ball. Bro. Buster's ministry includes bus/van ministry, outreach & visitation, Meals on Wheels, Prayer leader on

Wednesday morning and I'm sure other things as well. Sis. Betty is a huge part of Bro. Buster's ministry but has her own ministry as well. Sis. Betty was among the 1st to have a burden and desire to see children be fed a meal because they were coming to church hungry. Kidz Kafe has been a huge blessing and we are thankful for her burden. Woodruff Church of God is blessed to say that Buster & Betty Ball belong to us. We love and appreciate you and your ministries. Todd, Vickie, Katie, Chas & Genevieve Porter - We are blessed to say we have the best if not among the best musical program anywhere around. Yes we have wonderful musicians and the best singers around. But without sensitive, qualified and anointed leadership, we'd be making a bunch of sounds but not touching the heart of God. Todd & Vickie are sensitive to the leading of the Spirit, seek the face of God for what to do in each service and are gifted in what they do. They spend countless hours listening to music to find new songs, countless hours in arranging and planning....all before ever coming onto the church grounds. They also have to deal with scheduling of singers, finding replacements, filling in holes... Woodruff Church of God is blessed to have the Porter's leading us in music ministry and we want them to know how much we love and appreciate them and their ministry. Sergio, Mayra, Emelio & Noel Burgos - Our newest ministry at Woodruff is our Hispanic Ministry. We were blessed when Pastor Sergio & his family began attending but were doubly blessed when he felt the call to lead our Hispanic ministry. For over 10 years, we had been praying that God would allow us to have a Hispanic ministry again. When the timing was right and when the leadership was in place, God answered that prayer. For over a year, Pastor Sergio & his wife have been working and serving the Iglesia de Dios here in Woodruff. We are so proud of them and want to show our appreciation for their ministry. We love you. I also want to thank Andrea Hyman. She may not hold credentials, but she certainly is part of our ministry team. She is here Monday through Friday and is usually the first voice you hear or the first face you see. She has been a blessing to us and has taken on many other "hats" as well. We are thankful that she is part of our team and want her to know that love and appreciate her. We love her husband Ray and 2 boys, Mason & Colt. Thank you!!!

TIME CHANGE THIS SATURDAY NIGHT...... turn your clocks back 1 hour. Hey, you get an extra hour of sleep. So Sunday should be NO EXCUSES SUNDAY!!!!!

Mark your calendar.....November 24 in the AM service will be Baby Dedication. If you have a baby or child that needs to be dedicated, please call the church office and leave the necessary information. Remember, that dedication is as much about the parent/guardian as it is the child. Therefore at least one of the parents/guardians needs to be a born again Christian.

The week of Thanksgiving, we always move our service to Tuesday night to give our families more time with their family. This year, I've been asked to speak at the Community Service that will be held at Cavins Baptist Church. Therefore, we'll be moving our service on Tuesday, November 26th Extreme Kidz closet will open this Saturday November 2 from 9-12, if you know of a family in need of clothes please let them know about this, if you have any questions please see Alyssa Hayes or Ms Donna.

Thank you for every kindness shown us during the sickness and death of our sister. The pastors could not have treated us better and the ladies who served the meal were all a great comfort to us. ~The Family of Kay Brandenburg

We are very appreciative of the love shown to us in one of our darkest hours. We are forever grateful for the great meal and the continued prayers. ~With Love, The Johnson family
