Mark Zakharovs notion montage of extreme situations
montage or collage?
Contemporary humanitarian studies focus much attention on the notion of collage are related to theatre. Montage of extreme situations is the basic component of the methodology of prominent Russian stage director Mark Zakharov.
Comparison of montage and collage theatre action structures is made as of different ways to compose theatrical imagery on stage.

Religious drama Everyman on Renaissance stage
Neo-Latin drama of the Renaissance times has not been sufficiently researched
by Russian scholars. Religious drama Hecastus by Dutch humanist Georgius
Macropedius (14871558) also known as Joris van Lanckvelt was composed for
staging in the monastery, and was first produced in Utrecht in 1538, published
in 1539 may be considered to be one of the key creations of the epoch and the
experience of bringing together principles of both Medieval and Renaissance
traditions. Play was based on Medieval morality play about everybody (everyman) that circulated in the Netherlands and in Britain . Role of scholastic theatre
in the origin of West European professional dramatic art is discussed in this
paper.

Dr Dapertuttos Journal Love to Three Oranges
Journal issued at Vsevolod Meyerholds Studio Love to Three Oranges (1914
1916) is considered to be one of the first approaches to Russian national school
of theatre studies. Theoretical articles that were published in the journal were
composed by K.Vogak, V. Solovyov, S. Vermel, Vl. Lachinov as well as by Meyerhold himself. We may trace influence of this journal on the work of Alexei
Gvozdev.

The First A Dolls House
The article deals with the world premire of Henrik Ibsens A Dolls House at the
Royal Theatre in Copenhagen on December 21, 1879. The first chapter is de-

voted to the critical reception of the play itself. Since the theatre management
had succeeded in persuading the capital critics to reserve their main review for
the premire, the most of them treated Ibsens work through the performance.
The burning issues in this debate became the psychological and moral motivations of Noras actions and the dramatic justification for the dnouement of the
play. Edvard Brandes penetrating analysis was especially notable for his profound
understanding of the dramas contents and artistic novelty.

Drammi per musica Artaserse and Il Re pastore by Pietro Metastasio
Research of structure of Pietro Metastasios works in the context of standards
that existed for creating librettos brings to understanding of specific features of
his writings architectonics. Two dramas Artaserse (1730) and Il Re pastore
(1751) demonstrate sufficient changes in libretto style from early to late creations
of Metastasio. Legacy of this author for the European culture from the second
quarter of the 18th c. till 1820s is studied in this paper.

Meyerhold and Apollon Grigoryev
Author finds correlation of Vsevolod Meyerholds directing concepts and ideas
of creation and artistic revelations of Apollon Grigoriev. Context of this connection is made by approach to poetics of Gogol in symbolist period, two versions
of Government Inspector at Moscow Art Theatre (in 1908 and in 1921), role of
Khlestakov performed by Michael Chekhov, novel Kuehla by Yuri Tynyanov etc.

Hamlet as the production of the actor and the production of the director:
performances made by Mikhail Chekhov and Nikolai Akimov
Two productions of Hamlet made in different periods of Soviet times are compared: performance by Michael Chekhov at the Second Moscow Art Theatre
(1924), and by Nikolai Akimov at Vakhtangov Theatre (1932). Productions are
directly compared to each other in greater detail. Considering that one of the
production was focused on acting while another one was structured by the director there are differences in basic concept of the play, representation of certain
characters and scenes, press reviews of two plays. Two performances were especially interesting because Akimov by the moment of this production was mostly

the set designer though he had good perspectives for directing while Michael
Chekhov has manifested his method of acting through this role.

Natyashastra of Kerala: performing art in Kudiyattam dance
Kudiyattam is a form of Sanskrit theatre that is performed in Kerala; it is considered as the oldest existing Sanskrit theatre in India and also the oldest of the still
existing theatre forms of the world: it could easily claim more than 2000 years
of continued existence. Kudiyattam was twice recognised by UNESCO as a
masterpiece of oral and intangible heritage of humanity (in 2001 and in 2008).
Kudiyattam is performed only in very special temple theatres only by specific
actor families known as chakyar and nambyar. The performance structure of
kudiyattam is of a unique nature: the norm is for an act of a play taking at least
eleven nights, and nangyar-kuthu the solo female pantomime performance,
which tells the story of God Krishna taking 41 nights. Theoretical texts about
kudiyattam are assembled in the collection of documents called for convenience
The Kerala Natyasastra, that contains invaluable information about acting.
