Posted by Farhan on March 8, 2009 25 Comments Finally I managed to run Win 98 on Nokia E71 , the first person to run Win 3.1 on N95 was from Poland , now yours truly sitting in Pakistan has replicated the procedure to run Win 98 the procedure was very simple and took me 1 hour to research the basics and 10 min to install

to save you from looking around to find easier methods to install Ive created step by step instructions for you to install it easily . 1) Install all the files in the Dependencies Folder

2) install dosbox 3) install dosbox upgrade 4) Copy Win98.img to e:\dos\windows ( you have to make this directory yourself in the memory card ) 5) in C:\data copy mapper file and dosbox.conf files ( you have to make the directory in phone memory yourself ) 6) Run Dosbox and enjoy Win98

The running on Win98 takes time and you may feel that you are getting the Blue Screen of Death

Dont worry its just Win98 loading and will take about 1 2 min to load . If you phone is hacked , Win98 may not work as the memory is divided in the hacked phone and running memory is reduced , I had to hard reset my phone to run it the question is Ive run Win 98 now what to do with it , well the first thing this installation shows the computing power of Nokia E71 even Nokia e51 , equivalent to the early 2000s computers secondly programs may come to be used some images may be made , let me try some experiments and Ill inform you of the outcome . Ive uploaded the files in zip format at UPDATED Working Link : http://rapidshare.com/files/370580102/Windows98.rar ( April 2010) its a 85 mb download , the included mapper.txt will help you in defining the keymap to be used

Hello ive installed on my e71 hacked and it work it was not necessary to unhack, also the performance is quite cool i just needed to put normal on the conf. file it was set to cw, and well not that its hacked what? xD i the text is impossible to read, am i wrong or i need to change the resolution? thanks =)

However, the Win98.img file is to big to fit on my phones memory. So I tried extracting it, and I got these two files, system and win. Shall I try putting these two files on the phone memory and changing the dos.conf? Thanks
