3.0 Introduction 3.1 CAD/CAM Computer-aided design (CAD) is the use of computer systems to assist in the creation, modification, analysis, or optimization of a design. CAD software is used to increase the productivity of the designer, improve the quality of design, improve communications through documentation, and to create a database for manufacturing. CAD output is often in the form of electronic files for print, machining, or other manufacturing operations. Computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) is the use of computer software to control machine tools and related machinery in themanufacturing of workpieces. This is not the only definition for CAM, but it is the most common CAM may also refer to the use of a computer to assist in all operations of a manufacturing plant, including planning, management, transportation and storage. Its primary purpose is to create a faster production process and components and tooling with more precise dimensions and material consistency, which in some cases, uses only the required amount of raw material (thus minimizing waste), while simultaneously reducing energy consumption. CAM is now a system used in schools and lower educational purposes CAM is a subsequent computer-aided process after computeraided design (CAD) and sometimes computer-aided engineering (CAE), as the model generated in CAD and verified in CAE can be input into CAM software, which then controls the machine tool. The term CAD/CAM is a shortening of Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM). The term CAD/NC (Numerical Control) is equivalent in some industries. CAD/CAM software uses CAD drawing tools to describe geometries used by the CAM portion of the program to define a tool path that will direct the motion of a machine tool to machine the exact shape that was drawn. Computer aided design (CAD) is the process of utilizing computers to create and edit design models and drawing. CAD systems are powerful tools and are used in the design and geometric modeling of components and products. CAD may be used to design curves and figures in two-dimensional (2D) space, or curves, surfaces, or solids in three-dimensional (3D) objects. CAD is an important industrial art extensively used in many applications, including automotive, shipbuilding, and aerospace industries, industrial and architectural design, prosthetics, and many more.

Computer Aided Design (CAD) is the use of computer technology for the design of objects, real or virtual. CAD often involves mere than just shapes. As in the manual drafting of technical and engineering drawings, the output of CAD often must convey also symbolic information such as materials, processes, dimensions, and tolerances, according to application-specific conventions. Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) is the use of computer-based software tools that assist engineers and machinists in manufacturing or prototyping product components and tooling. Its primary purpose is to create a faster production process and components and tooling with more precise dimensions and material consistency, which in some cases, uses only the required amount of raw material, while simultaneously reducing energy consumption. CAM is a programming tool that makes it possible to manufacture physical models using Computer Aided Design (CAD) programs. CAM creates real life versions of components designed within a software package.

3.2 NC code for CNC machining G-code is the common name for the most widely used numerical

control (NC) programming language, which has many implementations. Used mainly in automation, it is part of computer-aided engineering. G-code is sometimes called G programming language. In fundamental terms, G-code is a language in which people tell computerized machine tools what to make and how to make it. The how is defined by instructions on where to move to, how fast to move, and through what path to move. The most common situation is that a cutting tool is moved according to these instructions, cutting away excess material to leave only the finished workpiece. Non-cutting tools, such as cold-forming tools, burnishing tools, or measuring probes, are also sometimes involved.

5.0 safety procedure 5.1 Mechanical safety pre-caution during CAD/CAM workshop The students must be careful when in the CAD/CAM workshop. Always if you are in doubt, do not attempt to operate by yourself, call for help. Students must follow all the rules and safety procedure in workshop to avoid from danger. Do not disturb other friends or joking during do the CAD/CAM.

5.2

Electrical safety pre-caution during CAD/CAM workshop Assume that all overhead wires are energized at lethal voltages. Never assume that a wire is safe to touch even if it is down or appears to be insulated. Never touch a fallen overhead power line. Stay at least 10 feet (3 meters) away from overhead wires during clean-up and other activities. If working at heights or handling long objects, survey the area before starting work for the presence of overhead wires. Never operate electrical equipment while you are standing in water. Never repair electrical cords or equipment unless qualified and authorized. Always use caution when working near electricity.

7.0 Diffence between Cnc Automation and Cnc manual

Cnc Manual The process take a long time Only one operator can handle the macine Manual program best when jobs are simple No need g-code Programs can be written in a wat that they exrcute as efficiency as possible on the machine Many risk injured when operate machine

Cnc Automation The process not take a long time The machine can handle many operator can keep many nib of instrutment in machine safety more woken up during mahine carried out no need too focused

8.0 conclusion During the workshop practice , I have learn about CAD/CAM procedure. En hadiz bin Kasim give me many information about CAD/CAM. I learn about to generate NC Code form CAD/CAM software. I just take one day to learn processing cad/cam. Then, I also learn about autocad software, because, in cad/cam we have to drawing what we want to do. From that the drawing, I have draw using cad/cam software. When done draw in cad/cam software, we have to generate code follow the step teaching by En. Zainal Abidin bin Kasim. Cad/cam also faster and more complex software could be run on Unix. Both centralized and collaborative model have been used to achieve cad cam integration. The centralized model suits companies that have similar information infrastructure. The collaborative model can better support collaborative activities in the manufacturing environment. Software rarely has the same perceived value associated with it as hardware you cannot touch it, for example so it very easy to overlook the positive and negative effects that the right or wrong product can have on your business. Whether its your MRP system thats gone down or your cam system is causing problem is all boils down to the same time and money. Overtime visionary companies will all opt for reliable completely automated solution to increase through put and minimize overhead and waste. While the initial cost of automation has a perceived price and technological barrier a review of existing practices versus future saving can quickly identify this as false.
