INTRODUCTION Rasashastra is praised to be one of the best treatise. Ancient Indian treatises on mercurial operations and alchemical practices have a significant place in the technical literature of India. They are the living evidences of high degree of vast technical knowledge, especially in the field of mineralogy and metallurgy and most in the field of mineral medicine. Doshas of Parada and their ashtadashasamskaras are quite important in this field.Among this druti plays an important role in retaining liquid form of certain metals while processing in various drugs.

DRUTI

The metals like svarna etc. and other minerals remain in the form of liquid due to processing in various specific drugs and also blowing in intensive fire. Such liquefied metal called the druti of original metal. Garbhadruti Liquefying the substance which is given as grasa inside the parada alone is called garbhadruti. Bahyadruti Bahyadruti is the process of liquefying the substances like sattva of abhraka etc. without putting in the parada. Characteristics of Druti

Not sticking to the vessel, remaining in the form of liquid, being lustrous, being light and readily mixing with parada are the five specific characteristics of druti. Druti of different metals, minerals and jemstones are following below; GANDHAKA DRUTI Procedure:

c)Ignition of Varti:1) On the next day, varti was ignited by holding its two ends with the help of Sadamsha yantra, so that, its middle portion come down to form its U-shaped structure. 2) Ignition was started from the bottom of the U. 3) Druti was collected in the vessel kept below. Observation :a) Gandhaka before shodhanab) Gandhaka after shodhanac) Colour of mixture :d) Varti before ignition :was oozing out through it. Yellow crystalline form, transparent Yellowish amorphous, opaque Gandhaka + Trikatu = Greyish yellow Wet with tila-taila it snigdha; when pressed taila

e) Varti during ignition :When varti was ignited; suffocating gas was released from it .& taila of black colour was dripping drop by drop. f) Varti after ignition :was not igniting easily. Become brittle, dark black colour; light in weight &

g) Varti before immersion :-Dry & less in weight; tied with thread. h) Varti before immersion :-Become heavy as it absorbs oil. Observation of Druti :1) It is black in colour, snigdha, emitting obnoxious smell . Precautions :1) Wash & clean all the apparatus as well as hands properly. 2) Take new milk each time during Shodhana. 3) Wear mask during ignition process, as sulphur on oxidation becomes sulphurdioxide which is poisonous gas. 4) Discard initial few drops after ignition; as it may be tila-taila.

5) Collect the druti in clean vessel. SVARNA DRUTI

The bones and fat of frog, tankana, saliva of horse and insect called indragopa are taken in equal quantity and ground.Gold is melted in a crucible and the above mixture is put in to the melted gold.By this the gold will remin in the liquid form alone, for long time. RAJATA DRUTI The powder of devadali panchanga which has been given seven bhavanas of human urine is added into the liquefied roupya as prakshepa. This keeps roupya in liquid form. PITTALA DRUTI The powder of the golden coloured pittala of the ritika variety is mixed with any edible stuff and given to a young and insolent black goat to eat .Then the faecal matter of that goat is collected and smeared inside an earthern sharava and heated strongly. This yields a beautiful druti of pittala. It possesses fourteen colours of the best gold. It makes the men strong like iron and is used as rasayana and also in rasakarmas.

CONCLUSION

The progressive path of the Rasashastra, the Science of mercury , minerals, and metals is significant in view of the utility in medical science, especially in Ayurveda. Mercury and its samskaras are important among these Druti plays an inevitable role owing to their action in herbal preparations.
