Macadelic, the 2012 album from Mac Miller, will leave hip-hop fans satised while asking them to take a look in the mirror. Born and raised in the city of Pittsburgh, PA, the 21year-old is a lyrical genius. His beats will have you swaying and his lyrics will make you contemplate a deeper meaning. With club bangers such as Lucky A** B**** and Loud its no wonder young fans love him. But don't let these wilder songs deter you from the deeper meaning of Macadelic. On the song Clarity, he raps about attempted suicide. The whole underlining of the song is to thank people for taking away his pain, but at the same time he is still trying to nd his way in the world. From listening to Mac Millers album, we learn he is still on his journey of nding himself. Macadelic helps convey to the audience that Mac Miller is still just your everyday man. Activist, love activeness/ Sending my love for girls who got some cuts at their wrist. Millers other songs, including The Question, and Angels, prove that hes a thoughtful rapper and a rising gure in hip hop.

Rev-Run, formerly part of the famous hip-hop duo Run DMC, was a rap powerhouse in the 80s known worldwide for hits such as Walk This Way and My Adidas. His son, 18 year-old Daniel Diggy Simmons, ! is following in his fathers footsteps as a future hip hop star, though many are still unsure if this son of a rap legend truly has what it takes to be one of the greats. It is evident that he wants people to know him for his music. Although he is popular mostly among young girls, his goal in music is to make himself relatable to all age groups which is a goal for many artists. When his mixtape Airborne rst came out, he let the public see that he was serious about his music.

In his rst debut album Unexpected Arrival he tried to change his vibe, and his audience. He showed that he had matured, and he proved to many people that this is what hes now focusing on. On the album there are many upbeat songs, followed by a few slow songs that all vibe with each other well . In terms of the construction of the album, it was well put together. In two of his songs on his new debut album, "Two up" and "Hello World," you can somewhat see a trend in his music. On both songs he reects on himself and is in a sense just saying to have fun, and be you.! Although there are more than enough reasons to agree that Diggy grew up, hes able to show that he is still young and likes to have fun.!

En ambas canciones l reexiona sobre s mismo y en cierto modo lo que dice es divirtanse y sean ustedes mismos. Aunque hay ms que razones sucientes para estar de acuerdo en que Diggy ha crecido, aun le queda por mostrar que l todava esta joven y le gusta divertirse.

" If youre looking for a great summer anthem, (with a fun music video to go along with it), give a listen to Under My Shades, a cutesy tune dedicated to the love of sunglasses. Its sung by Zara Larsson, a 15year-old pop star who became well known in her home country of Sweden after winning Talang 2008, the Swedish version of Americas Got Talent. The record label TEN Music Group signed her in 2012 and now Larsson has a new EP titled Introducing Zara Larsson. All of her songs are sung in English, and the ones with the most hit potential are Under My Shades and Its a Wrap. Since Swedish pop is quite similar to American pop music, her sound is very likable. "

Larssons songs feature catchy beats and clean lyrics. Despite her Swedish accent, her voice is reminiscent of Rihannas, (with her own air, of course), and easy on the ears. " Id recommend Its a Wrap as the rst song to listen to. Its an upbeat ballad about not being upset over a breakup. It also uses an interesting movie analogy (which is not so common these days). Its rhythmic structure has some elements of Rihannas hit, We Found Love, but Larsson is on her way to discovering her own sound.

Si esta buscado un tema de verano grandioso, (que vaya a la par de un vdeo musical divertido), escucha la cancin Under My Shades, una meloda adorable dedicada al amor por los lentes de sol. Es cantada por Zara Larsson, estrella de msica pop de 15 aos de edad, quin se dio a conocer en Suecia, su pas de origen despus de ganar Talang 2008 la versin sueca de Amrica Tiene Talento. La disquera TEN Music Group, la contrat en el 2012 y ahora Larsson tiene un nuevo CD titulado Presentando a Zara Larsson. Todos sus temas son cantados en ingls, y las que tienen mayor potencial son Under My Shades y Its a Wrap. Ya que la msica pop sueca es bastante similar a la msica pop

norteamericana, su sonido es muy atractivo. Las canciones de Larsson tienen ritmos pegajosos y letras claras. A pesar de su acento sueco, su voz suena como la de Rihanna, (por su puesto con su propio estilo), y es agradable de escuchar. Yo recomendara, Its a Wrap, como la primera cancin para escuchar. " With his new album, The Gifted, Wale has shown incredible progress. His lyrics are more advanced while still expressing the things that everyday people go through. " Today he is a famous American rap star, but a few years ago he was looked at as an everyday person, too. He was born Olubowale Victor Akintimehin in 1984 and grew up in the D.C.-area surrounded by bad influences, including drug dealers and other elements of the street life. But Wale did not let that determine who he was. " In 2006, the rapper was discovered by producer Mark Ronson who signed him to Allido Records. He released several mixtapes and appeared in the national media. In 2009, Interscope Records released his debut album Attention Deficit. In 2011,

Wale signed with Maybach Music Group, the label owned by Miami rapper Rick Ross, who released Wales second album Ambition in 2011. Wale's strongest album, The Gifted, was released in June. " The Gifted received many positive reviews and was the number 1 on the iTunes charts for weeks after being released. The best songs on The Gifted are "Clappers," "Heaven's Afternoon," and his hit single "Bad". "Clappers" represents D.C.s unique style of music known as go-go by sampling the famous E.U. hit, Da Butt. "Heavens Afternoon" is a duet with Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill that discusses how Wales challenging childhood still couldnt stop his hustle. "Bad" is the one song that best shows Wales versatility -- its soulful and has a positive message. This song, and the album as a whole, prove that Wale is a talented lyricist who represents D.C. very well.

When thinking of a band, the lead vocalist is usually who captures the audience attention. Lets take famous go-go band Backyard for example. Ralph Anwan Glover, better known as Big G, is the lead vocalist for Backyard. Just as any other band, Big G seems to get all the credit because of his leading role. But what about the other members of the band? It takes more than just lead vocals to have a band. Without the background musicians, percussionists and background vocalists there would be no rent. The members who play instruments should receive credit for the amount of work they contribute to the final product but many times that is not the case. ! Calle 13 is a Puerto Rican band formed by Ren Prez Joglar, Eduardo Jos Cabra Martnez, and Illeana Cabra Joglar. Calle 13 first got a record deal with White Lion Records. In 2005, their debut album was released. Residente o Visitante, Calle 13s second album, helped the group gain success throughout the Latin America and win three Latin Grammys. The groups third album, Los de Atrs Vienen Conmigo, was released

in 2008 and won Album of the Year at 2009 Latin Grammy Awards. Calle 13 released its most recent album Entren Los Que Quieran on November 22, 2010. The band is known for its eclectic musical style. Thus far the group has won nineteen Latin Grammy Awards and three Grammy Awards. But Calle 13 is more than just Ren, Eduardo, and Illeana. The band consists of talented musicians including Hctor Coco Barez. ! Hector Coco Barez is a percussionist player originally from Puerto Rico. He was a very important part of Calle 13. He toured with the band and even recorded songs for the album but there were financial problems. When we recorded the first CD we were all friends and we didnt know it was gonna have that success so the three main guys took all the royalties, said Barez. But, that did not stop him from playing the percussion. He is now a member of the Pa Gozar Latin Band. Barez experience with Calle 13 has taught him that although friendship is important, business is business!

Hctor Coco Barez, es percusionista originario de Puerto Rico; l fue una parte muy importante de Calle 13; anduvo de gira con el grupo y hasta grab canciones para el lbum pero hubo problemas nancieros. Cuando grabamos el primer CD todos ramos amigos y no sabamos que el disco iba a tener ese xito, entonces las tres personas principales tomaron todos los derechos, dijo Barez. Pero eso no lo detuvo de seguir tocando la percusin. Actualmente l es miembro del grupo latino Pa Gozar. La experiencia de Barez con Calle 13 le ha enseado que aunque la amistad es importante, negocios son negocios!

lejandro Lucini is a 47 yearold Brazilian jazz artist from Rio De Janeiro. He started playing at age 15 after he became enchanted by street performers and has been in the music industry for 18 years. He draws inspiration from Hermeto Pascoal, but thats not his only source. I believe all inspiration does not come from me alone, but from God; I am the vessel for the inspiration, not the inspiration itself, Lucini says. He has already released an album called Ijexa with his band, Origem, and has another album on the way. But Alejandro isnt ready to bow out just yet.

I see myself composing more music, and working more to bridge the distance between the community and the transforming power of music. Music, especially in a group, teaches us many lessons about integrity, cooperation, discipline, truth, dedication, healing power, and faith. I want to pass this on to younger underprivileged people. God is my strength and my motivation to anything in my life, especially performance. In performance I am graced with the privilege to bless and inspire those in need, and that is a tremendous gift and responsibility.

lejandro Lucini es un artista de Jazz brasileo de 47 aos de edad, de Ro de Janeiro. l comenz a tocar msica a la edad de 15 aos, despus de quedar encantado por los artistas de la calle y ha estado en la industria de la msica durante 18 aos. l se inspira en Hermeto Pascoal, pero ste no es su nica fuente de inspiracin. Creo que toda la inspiracin no proviene solamente de m, sino de Dios; Yo soy el barco para la inspiracin, no la inspiracin misma, dice Lucini. Lucini public un lbum llamado Ijexa con su grupo Origem, y tiene otro lbum en camino. Pero Alejandro aun no est listo para retirarse.

Me veo componiendo ms msica y trabajando ms para acortar la distancia entre la comunidad y el poder de transformacin de la msica. La msica, especialmente en un grupo, nos ensea muchas lecciones sobre la integridad, cooperacin, disciplina, verdad, dedicacin, el poder de sanar y la fe. My Experience in the Youth Leadership Program

Mi Experiencia en el Programa de Liderazgo Juvenil The magazine project was an amazing addition to my summer work experience. I got to see a different side of the media away from radio broadcasting, which I had worked in last summer. I learned how to effectively work with a team and meet deadlines since we were running on a tight schedule. This magazine has allowed me to walk away from this experience with more than just a few words on a resume to show for the entire summer. I really hope everyone likes this magazine since the team put in so much effort. ! ! ! ! - Clysree Brown
El proyecto de la revista fue una adicin increble a mi experiencia de trabajo de verano. Pude ver el otro lado de los medios de comunicacin ms all de la radiodifusin, en el cul haba trabajado durante el verano pasado. Aprend a trabajar efectivamente en equipo y a cumplir con los plazos, ya que tenamos un horario estricto. Esta revista me ha ayudado a sacar de esta experiencia, ms que unas cuantas palabras en mi curriculum vitae para mostrarlas durante todo el verano.
