Exclamatory Structures

These structures help us to emphasize different parts of the sentence. In speech, intonation and pronunciation also identify the emphasis.
1. What (a, an)+ (adjective)+ noun...!

a beautiful dress that is! (not: is that) nice weather! (not: a nice weather) a relief! cute puppies!

2. How+ adjective adver!"!

How beautifully she sings! How entertaining this show is! (not: is this show) #$%&: When we use the structures a!ove, the sentence must !e in the affirmative form and attention should !e paid to the noun (whether it is sin'ular or plural, counta!le or uncounta!le).

We use these structures to emphasise a specific word or phrase in a sentence.
