Keynote Speech 1-1: Speaker: Mr Dipal Chandra Barua, Deputy Managing Directer of Grameen Bank and MD of Grameen Shakti Keynote Panel 1-1: Title: Lessons from Other Countries Description: The implementation of clean energy systems is not without its problems and obstacles. Countries around the world have had differing success in overcoming several of such challenges. The success of clean energy systems and infrastructure depends on effective government policies, superior technology, sound economics, strong conviction or a combination of such. What can we learn from such success stories and operational experiences so as to implement more effective and efficient future clean energy projects in Asia? Speakers: 1. Prof SK Chou (Executive Director, Energy Studies Institute)--Chair 2. Dr Michael Quah (Executive Director/Corporate Technology Fellow, Concurrent Technologies Corporation) 3. Dr Benjamin Sovacool (Research Fellow, Centre of Asia and Globalisation, LKY School of Public Policy, NUS) Panel 1-1 Title: The Future of Solar Energy in Asia Description: The solar energy industry and research is beginning to see brighter promise in Asia, suggesting that there is immense potential for development and commercialisation on this vast continent. Progress in this field can only take root when there is match between policies, infrastructure, technological advancements and cost reductions. How can current development roadmaps laid out by governments, solar companies and research institutes tie in together towards commercialisation of solar energy in Asia? Speakers: Energy Carta. 1. Mr Florent Abadie, (Director of Development and Technology, Conergy Asia-Pacific) 2. Prof Joachim Luther (CEO, Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore) 3. Mr Christophe Inglin (Managing Director Pheonix Solar Singapore)-- Chair Panel 1-2 Title: Opportunities in the Carbon market Description: Established as part of the Kyoto Protocol, the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) represents an essential key measure implemented to combat climate change at a reasonable cost. What exactly is CDM: its objectives, potential outcomes and strategies? What opportunities have resulted from the creation of the multi-billion carbon trading markets worldwide? Speakers: 1. Mr Tan Wai Han (Project Manager Malaysia, EcoSecurities) 2. Mr Ramondi Chodi (GreenAsia Group) 3. Mr Shanthan Selvakuma (Regional Manager, Sindicatum Clean Energy)--Chair

Panel 1-3 Title: Clean Energy: A disruptive technology? Description: Rising fuel prices and cost-competitive clean energy systems, could see consumers gradually switch to clean energy. This could affect our fuel mix, and result in a declining market share for traditional fuel (i.e. oil and gas) companies. How are such companies poised to react? Are industries that are dependent on oil and gas for their powering needs looking at clean energy as a friend or foe, and what other new trends will we see? Speakers: 1. Mr Ridwan Rusli (Founder, Exergy Advisory Pte Ltd and Research Fellow, Asia Competitiveness Institute, LKY School of Public Policy, NUS)--Chair 2. Mr Neil McGregor (MD, PowerSeraya) Energy Carta. Mr Dru D.Y Boo (Vice President, Sindicatum Clean Energy) Panel 1-4 Title: The Greening of Corporates Description: Companies adopting Green measures have gone beyond seeing them as a public relations exercise. Companies have seen their bottomline affected as a result of inefficient energy practices and rising fuel costs. In this panel, we examine some companies efforts at evolving their operations to be in line with environmental needs and how other companies can be persuaded to do the same. Speakers: 1. 2. 3. 4. Ms Mabel Lee (Public Affairs Executive, Singapore Airlines) Ms Claire Chiang (Snr VP Banyan Tree Holdings, former NMP) Michele Felder (Senior Director of Marketing, Juniper Networks Asia Pacific) Ms Laina Greene (Lead Consultant, CEO of GetIT, Inc)--Chair

Description: A staggering 1.6 billion people worldwide are deprived of electricity due to poverty and difficulties involved in implementation of electricity transmission systems. Access to power and electricity can dramatically improve the standard of livings and income levels of these rural communities. What can clean energy bring to these communities, and how can we work towards that? Speakers: 1. Dr Deepak Waikar (Regional President, International Energy Foundation)--Chair Energy Carta. Mr Jie Tang (Senior Energy Analyst, The World Bank) Panel 2-1: Title: The future of Biofuels Description: The use of biofuels has resulted in much debate. Some believe that the production and use of biofuels actually result in a bigger overall carbon footprint than using traditional resources. Others believe that it indivertibly results in soaring food prices. What lies ahead for budding industry? What are the potential difficulties and challenges in implementing biofuels as an alternate fuel in Asia? Speakers: 1. Mr Allan Lim (Founder, Alpha Synovate) 2.
