Incorporating Computers in the Classroom Although computers have been used in the classroom setting for decades now, we still nd many instances when they are being used only minimally or not at all. In this workshop we will look at a few ways to make use of computers and the Internet in the language classroom, with attention to ease of planning, ease of use and ensuring equipment reliability. An Introduction to Demand-High ELT Currently in ELT, the quality of teaching has never been higher, and teachers have become very good at managing classes in a student-centred manner. But how much learning really takes place? Are we tapping into the learners full potential? In this session, we will be looking at the recent work of Scrivener and Underhill and the concept of Demand-High ELT, which seeks to nd ways to promote actual language through small changes to the mindsets and practices of educators. Incorporating Pronunciation Throughout Lessons Many teachers dont like pronunciation. Its boring and all about individual sounds, symbols and alphabets no-one understands. But, wait! Pronunciation is so much more than the difference between ship and sheep or tree and three. In this workshop, well look at some practical ideas for incorporating pronunciation work throughout a lesson, with games, exercises and maybe even a chant or two. Teaching Delexicalized Verbs Have you ever wondered why we say have a banana and not eat a banana? Got home instead of arrived home? In this session we will look at the wonderful world of de-lexicalised verbs, why students have difculties with them and how we can deal with them.
