UNIT 10

THE GENERATION GAP

I thought today was a fine time to bring up the topic of a flat (or house) of my own to my father. When we talked, I had to wake up to the very sad fact that my parents do not want and simply cannot understand me. They don't see why it is important to be self rel!a"t and l!#erated, they have a very "e$at!ve, pre%ud!ced, #!ased and h!$h ha"ded op!"!o" about everything young people do. When I am trying to look after &yself and do &y ow" th!"$, they claim I am eas!ly led and !&press!o"a#le. I think, however, that it is essential for the youth of this age and time to have a &!"d of the!r ow", and to fe"d for the&selves. It is the older generations that are !"tolera"t, #!$oted, and "arrow &!"ded. I"tolera"ce is the key word for these people. (I think it's because they're very envious of us.) own with them!! own with their u"%ust, o"e s!ded, sla"ted views on the world, on war and on safe se"!! I think I got a little bit carried away. I had better stop now before I start to take myself seriously.
