The Son of Man is Lord of the sabbath

(Mt 12:1-11)

Bible reading for NOV 10TH, 2013

12 At that me Jesus went through the grainelds on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them. 2 When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, Look! Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath. 3 He answered, Havent you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry? 4 He entered the house of God, and he and his companions ate the consecrated breadwhich was not lawful for them to do, but only for the priests. 5 Or havent you read in the Law that the priests on Sabbath duty in the temple desecrate the Sabbath and yet are innocent? 6 I tell you that something greater than the temple is here. 7 If you had known what these words mean, I desire mercy, not sacrice, [a] you would not have condemned the innocent. 8 For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath. 9 Going on from that place, he went into their synagogue, 10 and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to bring charges against Jesus, they asked him, Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath? 11 He said to them, If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and li it out?

- This week House blessing is assigned for St. Marys ward - Thanks for you taking part in the 41st day Memorial Mass for my Mother - We wish to close the Faith year with Forty hours of Eucharistic Adoration and Reflections starting on Friday 22nd through Sunday 23rd November. - All wards and organizations working in the parish cooperate with this spiritual event. - There is a residential Retreat arranged by Sehion USA in Dallas, Texas starting from December 26th through 30th 2013. If you would like to join you can register today at the table in the back of the church. A special Bus has been arranged too. - Today CCD students will celebrate All Saints day instead of Halloween at the 9.30 am Holy Mass. - Also we begin the Bible month on Sunday Nov. 3rd. There will be a special dedication of Bible next Sunday for the 9.30 am Mass. Bring your Bible. This year we will focus on Gospel of John with special emphasis to the Eucharist. - There will be a special Pothuyogam on Nov. 10th after the 8.00 am Holy Mass - Dr. P P Vijayan will present a seminar class about Mind Power on Saturday Nov. 9th from 10-4 pm. at our church. Adult catechism classes: Every Sunday from 9.40 to 10.30 AM Bible month activities: Bible blessing at the beginning on 9.30 Holy Qurbana St. Johns Gospel has been selected for study and reflection for this year. Various activities have been planned for students: Coloring: Pre KG 1st grade; Story Telling: 2nd and 3rd grade; Bible quiz: 4,5,6, and 7, grade St. Johns Gospel Chapters 1-12; 8,9, and 10 grades, St. Johns Gospel Chapter 13 -21. The above activities will take place during the CCD hours on Dec.8th, Sunday 11& 12 grade Essay Contest: to be submitted before Dec 8th Sunday. OBITUARY
George Vethanathu, brother of Rev. Fr. Sebastian Vethanath passed away in India on Saturday, October 26th. The funeral was held on Tuesday, October 29th. Please keep the family in your prayers.
