General Assignment Reporter for University of South Dakotas independent student newspaper. Beat reporter covering the City of Vermillion. Works as a copy editor on the print edition. Founded and managed The Voices online edition. Daily tasks included copy editing, reporting, graphic design, video production. Other tasks included editorial leadership, management, Wordpress development and management, SEO, marketing/social media and analytics. Previous roles included design editor, doubletruck editor and staff writer. Student journalists worked on general reporting, video production, graphic design and marketing for a division of Chicago Tribune Media Group called The Mash. The Mash is a weekly newspaper produced by the Tribune Company as a cousin to RedEye and is distributed to all Chicago Public Schools and some suburban schools. Additional duties was television work for ABC/WLSs Windy City LIVE, Chicago Public Radios Vocalo and WGN Radio. Internship with Centegra Health Systems Marketing Department. Projects included work on videos, copy writing, social media and graphic design for areas of wellness, Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center Facilities in Crystal Lake and Huntley, Centegra Weight-Loss Institute, and Centegra hospitals. Web and Graphic Designer for Huntley Community Radio focused on brand development, logo design and implementation and a full website for the radio station. Also a producer/on air talent for Huntley Community Radio on a number of shows including news and general talk show.

Michael Geheren is a student at University of South Dakota studying Contemporary Media & Journalism. He specializes in journalism, web development, graphic design, social media and video production. Michael is a Freedom Forum Free Spirit Scholar and USD Al Neuharth Scholar. He is a blogger for The Huffington Post and formally worked for the Chicago Tribune Media Group as a writer, graphic designer and video producer. Michael launched his journalism career in junior high school working as a kid reporter for the Scholastic Kids Press Corps covering the 2008 Presidential Election and 2008 Olympic Media Summit.
