Please visit our website www.rockwool-marine.com or contacts us for more information Steel Plate 2 mm Marine Slab 200, 30 mm Marine Slab 200, 30 mm Steel Deck Comfort Insulation The requirements of the indoor climate and comfort have become more stringent during the recent years. The insulation constitutes an important factor of this, as it ensures obtaining the correct temperature as comfort insulation. The great advantage of the Rockwool products is that the high level of thermal insulation can be combined with excellent noise reduction capabilities and often also fre protection constructions will act as thermal comfort insulation. All ROCKWOOL Marine & Offshore products will fulfl the IMO rules of non- combustibility and low fame spread and besides this the products have excellent water repellent properties which are also important as comfort insu- lation often is placed directly up against the outer construction with changing temperatures. Floating Floors To obtain a good comfort a good noise reduction is required between the indivi- dual decks. To prevent noise particularly impact sound and structure borne noise from travelling from one cabin to another you must use an insulation solution which has the necessary rigidity, elasticity and noise reduction/absorption. For this purpose ROCKWOOL Marine & Offshore has developed and for many years marketed the Rockwool Marine Slab 140 with an excellent track record. This product is widely used by dedicated foating foor companies as the core mate- rial, combined with different types of load spreading top layers and base layers. These solutions are extensively used on cruise liners where stringent require- ments are made in order for people to be able to enjoy their cruise without being bothered by noise. At the same time many of these foating foor constructions are made as approved A-60 Deck Fire Protection Solutions. ROCKWOOL Marine & Offshore also supplies solutions for foating foor, approved for A-60 Deck Fire Protection, see page 5. 8 9 Panels Throughout the accommodation areas of a vessel or living quarter, it is required to have B-Class fre restriction zones and fre protection between each cabin. And at the same time it is needed to have comfort and noise insulation between each cabin, towards public areas etc. For this purpose the Rockwool Marine Slab range of products has proven to be highly successful. ROCKWOOL Marine & Offshore has together with the customers developed a great number of special products possessing high compressive and delaminating strength as well as great fre resistance, which has been approved as non-combustible according to latest IMO regulations. The panel and door manufacturers here-by have an outstanding core material for the fabrication of sandwich constructions. Sound Solutions Today an increasing focus on noise reduction is present, which extents far beyond the rules of national marine authorities and IMO, such as res A.468(XII). The technical aspects in this area are quite complex and often requires spe- cialist companies to perform sound design work, calculations and fnal onboard measurements. Rockwool products have excellent properties as; sound absorbers, stopping structural borne noise (i.e. with foating foor and bulkhead constructions) and as noise reduction by panels. ROCKWOOL Marine & Offshore is assisting in the battle against noise. A large range of basic product measurements has been performed, to create the necessary data for the further calculations. A series of typical constructions have also been tested for the noise reduction capabilities. Please see our web site www.rockwool-marine.com for dedicated specialist information and measuring results. Typical Rockwool products for comfort insulation Marine Batts 32/45 Marine Slab 60/80 Marine Slab 120-250 Technical Insulation Pipe Insulation Pipe insulation is rarely visible, but often decisive for the comfort and safety on board. The safety rules of SOLAS (Chp II-2) regarding hot surfaces in engine rooms have to be fulflled. Pipe insulation is also necessary to reduce the surface tem- perature on the pipes so that people working in the vicinity are not injured by contact with hot pipes. To prevent corrosion and blockage of pipes for heavy oil, cargo lines for prod- uct tankers etc. it can further more be decisive to avoid too great a heat loss from the pipes. ROCKWOOL Marine & Offshore has a wide selection of marine approved solu- tions for pipe insulation, which satisfy all these requirements, for large pipes as well as small pipes. Ridged pipe sections are available both with and without reinforced aluminium foil covering. Also available is the Universal Pipe Section; a lower density and very fexible pipe section, which ensures a quick and effective installation without cutting, even when doing >90 degrees elbows. The Rockwool Pipe Sections are especially suitable for ambient to very high temperatures, but can also be utilised for chilled medias. Please see the web site where a calculation application can be downloaded, to determine heat loss, surface temperatures, and required thicknesses. Technical Installations For a large range of technical equipment onboard a vessel or offshore installa- tion, there will be requirements for insulation. This will often be a combination of thermal control, noise reduction and fre safety. For these purposes ROCKWOOL Marine & Offshore will be able to supply a perfect solution. Also for odd size and shape installations. Air Ducts Today, many requirements are made on air ducts. Most important is that the comfort on board the vessels or platform living quarters is considered and that no compromises are made to the demands on fre safety. In connection with ventilation of cabins and other rooms it must furthermore be ensured that no condensation is formed and that the required temperature is maintained all the time. This is obtained by using one of the ROCKWOOL Marine & Offshore products. Typical Rockwool products for technical insulation Marine Wired Mat 80/90/105 Marine Lamella Mat 32 Marine Firebatts 110 Pipe Sections 10 Facings There are many reasons for choosing insulation products with facings. It is gen- erally done to obtain a vapour barrier, which prevents formation of condensa- tion on the cold side of a construction. ROCKWOOL Marine & Offshore can for this purpose offer a number of products faced with a reinforced alu foil, which ensures a strong surface. In addition to this, ROCKWOOL Marine & Offshore can often provide products with a glass fabric, which often provides a cheaper and lighter construction. These products are typically used for car decks, aircondi- tioning, plants, engine rooms, lift sharfts or the like. Rockwool Marine & Offshore also offers products with glass tissue typically used for sound reduction or insulation of ventilation ducts. Others Accessories Accessories for the installation work are also available from ROCKWOOL Marine & Offshore. The product range covers i.e. Copper coated mild steel pins. Stainless steel pins. Available also with alu tip. Spring washers, plain or with white cap. Stainless steel washers, plain or with white cap. Rockwool knives. Aluminium tape. Glass Fabric , white 210 gr/m 2 . Adhesive for glass fabric. 1 Galvanised Wire Mesh. Other accessories available upon request. 11 Aquaduct CL are special pat- ented Rockwool products where the vertical direction of the fbres provides an excellent compres- sion resistance at low thicknesses (down to 10 mm thickness). The fbres are bonded to a reinforced aluminium foil outer facing and the product can be supplied with very low tolerances. In most cases Aquaduct CL will be the optimal choice for Pipe in Pipe solutions. Aquaduct Sections are rigid pre-formed circular units of Rockwool insulation supplied with or without an outer covering. Aquaduct sections are available in almost any combination of dia- meter, thickness and length and can be adapted to individual needs and specifcations. Aquaduct Sections are the optimal choice for bigger sizes of pipe. Aquaduct PSM is a rigid Rockwool slab having a glass scrim or reinforced aluminium foil facing bonded to one side and triangular grooves in the other. The grooves allow the slab to wrap around and closely ft specifed large diametres. Aquaduct Bevelled Lags are trapezoidal strips of Rockwool rigid slab designed to contour specifed large diametres. The lags can be supplied loose or bonded to a reinforced foil or metal outer sheet. The use of Aquaduct Bevelled Lags offers the designer the facility to incorporate inset strips of varying thicknesses. Aquaduct Loose Fill is a specially graded, granular insulation designed to in-fll around pipe bundles and to fully fll irregu- lar voids. Aquaduct Loose Fill can be installed at a wide range of densities, either by hand packing or by use of specially de- signed blowing equipment. Aquaduct - Thermal Insulation solutions for Sub-Sea Pipeline ROCKWOOLs unique product properties within fre resistance, water and mois- ture repellent, sound reduction and thermal conductivity, which traditionally have been used e.g. within the marine and offshore sector, can now with beneft be used for thermal insulation of Sub-Sea Pipelines. The increased effciency improvement when drilling for oil and use of the worlds oil reserves mean that we operate on deeper ocean depths with increasing temperatures of the crude oil as a consequence. Precisely here, the combination of ROCKWOOLs capability to resist high temperatures and good insulating qualities appears. Aquaduct has already been used success- fully in Sub-Sea projects world wide for se- veral years. We offer individual and custom- ised solutions to match the specifc condi- tions and needs: Pipe-in-pipe system, Pipe Bundles, Field Joints and Bespoke solution. Advantages Resistant to high temperatures Resilient; good recovery following deformation Free from HFCs and other glowing gases Unaffected by welding of feld joints Easy to handle and install Reliable performance; thermal conductivity cannot degrade due to loss of entrapped gas Recyclable Product Range Aquaduct Insulation system incorporate a number of different Rockwool products which can be tailor made for the individual project and purpose. Some of the products are described below: 12 Product Selector ROCKWOOL Marine & Offshore has developed a special range of marine products, which meets the requirements of IMO's regulation at any time.
