Facilities Provided

BEST believes that it has a social obligation towards the city where it has grown. As such it is felt essential to provide concession to certain sections of society. A few schemes are listed below. Free Travel Facility: Presently, the BEST provides free travel facility to the freedom fighters. Municipal ouncilors and !on" ouncilor Members of the BEST ommittee are also permitted to travel free on BEST buses. Members of #egislative Assembly and #egislative ouncil, $emale Members accompanied by any one vi%. husband, son, daughter, father, mother, brother or sister are allowed to travel free on BEST buses. Police personnel are allowed to travel free on BEST buses against an ad"hoc payment of compensation towards free travel facility by the &overnment of Maharashtra. This facility of free travel however is not available on Air" onditioned bus service Concessional Fare: hildren below '( years of age are charged concessional fare. Student studying upto )igher Secondary and upto the age of (( years are charged concessional fare. Persons who are *+ , and above, permanently -rthopaedically handicapped are charged concessional fare. Blind persons are charged a flat fare of .e.'/" per 0ourney. oncessional fare facility is not available on #u1ury and Air" onditioned Services. Reservation of Seats: The BEST has reserved 2 seats for handicapped person,in S3 / 33 buses, and ( seats each in Air onditioned and Midi buses. 4 seats in S3 buses, ( seats in Air ondtioned, and 2 seats each in Midi and 33 buses for Senior iti%ens. '( seats in S3 buses, '+ seats in 33 buses, * seats each in Air onditioned, and Midi Buses for lady passengers, this includes ' seat for lady travelling with an infant. Front Door Entry: The BEST have permitted physically and mentally handicapped persons, senior citi%ens, and e1pectant mothers to board the bus from the front door e1cept at starting point. Passenger Refund Claims: 5n case the conductor does not have enough change to return the balance of the passenger, he writes on the bac6 of the tic6et the amount of balance due and authenticates the same. Such a tic6et is treated as a receipt by the BEST. The passenger can claim the balance amount from Tic6et 7 ash 3epartment, head office at 8adala after producing the tic6et. Disaster Management: 5n the event of disruption of rail services the BEST operates additional buses in the area of disruption. Timely actions are ta6en with the help of our communication system. Lost Property: The lost property section of the Transport 3ivision is in e1istence prior to the municipalisation of the BEST 9nderta6ing in the year ':4;. 5nitially the #ost Property section was at olaba 3epot, Transport )ouse and it was subse<uently shifted to (nd floor of 8adala 3epot, Administrative Building with effect from +'/+(/':=+. As per Act '2(>4? of Bombay Motor @ehicle .ules ':A: >!ew rule '(( of Maharshtra Motor @ehicles .ules ':=:?, the #ost Properties were re<uired to be handed over to the Police 3epartment, )owever the BEST 9nderta6ing has been e1empted from the provision of rule '2(>4?, and therefore all such articles are deposited in the #ost Property Section of the 9nderta6ing vide notification issued by )ome 3epartment !o M@..'=A:/*:='4"B55 date +;.'+.':A:.
