ASSIGNMENT #2: Assessment Analysis C. Factual Information: Test Results

I thought that Miss Keetows class results were very good overall. In 3 of the 4 test categories they were 80% or more at target level or above which shows that a high percentage understand the material. Its also worth noting that a few of the students with below target scores only had them in one or two of the four areas and some were very high in the other areas.

D. Interpretation of Data For my grouping I averaged the scores for each student using all four assessments. I would group this classroom into four groups of five students with them being dispersed evenly based on averages. Blue group Paige Turner 65.8 Jack Potts 50.3 Robin Banks 49.8 Jay Walker 37.3 Scott Free 36 Red Group Anna Mull 64 Rick O Shae 55.5

Ability grouping can be a very touchy topic for many and people seem to love it or hate it so in my grouping I wanted to find a way to evenly ability group. I did this in a sort of Fantasy Football method where I assigned each student a value score based on the average of the four assessments and then one by one I went down the list and put them on the next team. As you can see by the averages this gives each team a well-rounded group that is represented by all target levels. Additional Information Having heard you already discuss this in class I am not sure there really is any additional information that would effect this situation. I do think that knowledge of prior reading tests scores could help you see where a student may have just had an off day and that could help you look at the rest of the school year and may give ideas on how to help. E. Reflection This assignment was really hard and confusing for me as I missed the day it was discussed and there was no posted example to follow. After getting the template and reading about the different assessment types it became a lot easier to understand. It was very interesting to me to sit and look at the test scores and try to think of a meaningful and effective way to group the class based on the scores. With so many unique students having different strengths and weaknesses it was hard to look at it in just one way so in the end I took all scores into account and looked at it as a whole. This allowed me to put students of all target levels into each group giving them the best chance of all helping in some way as opposed to the high learners having to carry the burden of peer tutoring all those not on level.
