I was recommended to see Kim through a friend of mine. I was 41 at the time, and was single. I had been on dating sites and was meeting men I had no interest in. I was desperate to be in a relationship and also was keen if I could, to have a family. I heard Kim was very good at helping women let go of blocks and some of her clients had successful relationships and even marriage after seeing her. I didnt know what to expect seeing Kim, I just thought she would give tips on where I was going wrong and how to meet a decent man!
A Testimonial
Within the first session we were discussing things that I hadnt even thought about in my past, my first boyfriend at school and feeling unattractive compared to my sisters and losing my father at the age of 15. I was given homework and I could clearly see that my past was linked to me not having a partner in my life. I took the 8-session package and worked with Kim. It was so much fun, Kim would have me visualise the life I wanted and the one I didnt want and then tap until I had no feeling or care about the one I was afraid I would end up with. She would question every answer I gave and would keep asking why I gave that answer, it would go on and on. I always came away with so much insight and just felt that I was slowly becoming in charge of myself and my life. I really had no idea that I was keeping men at bay because of the loss of my father, I realised I was terrified of being rejected again, as I felt my father had rejected me by passing away when I was so young. I had so many barriers put up. Kims session were really insightful and life changing and I looked forward to every session, she would always take whatever issue I had and blow it completely out of proportion. Kim asked me to give my story and I wanted to include the statements below as these made me laugh so much as I realised my fear was just fear. I have kept these particular statements.
AAMET
From session three; I was upset about being single and fearful I would end up alone, Kim created the statements and would have me do the statements on every session until it was the most ridiculous thing to say.
Even though I will end up alone, spending my days in a rocking chair with 100s of cats, I love and accept myself Even though I will end up alone, spending my days in a rocking chair with 100s of cats, and even they will leave and go next door because I am so unlovable, I love and forgive myself Even though I will end up alone, spending my days in a rocking chair with 100s of cats, and even they will leave and go next door and so will all of my neighbours, and everyone in my area because I am so unlovable, I love and forgive myself
Over a year has passed, I have been in a relationship for 4 months and I really was not looking. I have changed my outlook in life in general. I also changed jobs almost immediately after our sessions last year. I have been so impressed that I am booked onto my EFT level 1 course for October this year.

ver the years I have fine tuned and developed a very simplified version of EFT and called it TBT (Trauma Buster Technique). My interest was in helping people with PTS symptoms as quickly and painlessly as possible. TBT is not dependent on literacy, language, IQ, gender, age or belief system. It is the story technique, with the movie technique and other steps which make it easy to teach and learn.
I developed the opportunity to visit Pakistan and offer free training to any organization which was willing to sponsor my workshops. I trained over 200 people in total and the workshops were given in Peshawar, Islamabad and Lahore. The participants were entirely from the medical community and they are the front line people working in the worst areas of the ongoing war, floods and other disasters.

There were about 60 participants and TBT was fully embraced. Many of the participants had amazing results with their own traumas such as home invasions, tragic car accidents, hold ups, explosions and violent attacks. After each workshop participants were keen to teach TBT to their families and to other field workers. ubsequent to my visit and TBT workshops last year to Pakistan, I have been invited to return and provide further training at the Darul Aman Womens Shelter/Jail in the city of Sukkur. I will also be revisiting Sahil and Dost foundations and a further trip to Chitral in the far north west. My trip will start at the beginning of May and I will be there for 4 weeks. I am really looking forward to spreading TBT amongst the population that really needs emotional relief and are more than happy to use the tapping. TBT in Pakistan, September 2012

the memory creating this state has to be uncoupled from the neurology to eliminate the trauma symptoms. While we cannot change the actual experience we are able to change how the body responds to memory of the experience. TBT can also alleviate symptoms related with drug addiction, phobias and other chronic conditions that may be connected with trauma. We experience the world through our 5 senses. While we cant change the actual experience of something that has happened in the past, we are able to change how the experience is structured and therefore how the memory is experienced or remembered. The impact of this is profound. The sensory qualities perceived by each of the five senses are known as sub-modalities. For example, visual sub-modalities include colour, shape, movement, brightness,
Trauma symptoms can be recent or past, simple or complex. TBT will neutralize the symptoms experienced by the sufferer quickly and painlessly. TBT is used with groups of people, individuals or for self-help. TBT is a mind-body technique and a combination of the EFT tapping sequence and NLP processes. TBT is not dependent on language skills, literacy, IQ, gender, culture or religious beliefs. depth etc., auditory sub-modalities include volume, pitch, tempo etc., and kinaesthetic sub-modalities include pressure, temperature, texture, location etc. While gustatory/ olfactory are associated with tastes and smells. When sub-modalities in an event are changed then the associated feelings change because our brain-body bio-chemistry changes The steps to ensure success with EFT/TBT are: specifics, mind/body connection and test results
THE TECHNIQUE
Pick a specific unpleasant event where you want to neutralize the feelings. Turn the event into a story. Give it a title and decide on a start and end to maintain focus and to remain in the associated neurological pattern. Start by tapping on the karate chop point and proceed with the short-cut tapping protocol while telling the story as you recall it. Research shows conclusively that tapping on the meridian points reduces cortical levels and negative feelings/emotions. No set-up statements are used. Before starting, establish a bail-out anchor in case of overwhelm or abreactions. 1. Tell the story (out loud) of the specific event you have chosen. Make sure it has a beginning and an ending and stay within those boundaries. Notice where and how you experience feelings/emotions in your body. Rate the intensity from 0-10 2. Turn the story into a Black and White Movie. Recall the last time you saw a B&W movie and what the quality was like. Run the movie as many times as you need and tap on the points while speaking it out aloud in third person. Rate it every time to test the results. Go back to the original event and rate 0-10 3. Tap on the points and run the B&W movie backwards and verbalize what you see. What did it look like with everything going backwards? Rewind the movie repeatedly till you are satisfied with the results. Rate the original event 0-10 and notice where and what you feel in your body.
4. Turn the movie into a cartoon. Do you have a favourite cartoon character or had one when you were young? Turn your movie into a Technicolor cartoon and have the players represented by Bugs Bunny, Popeye, Mickey Mouse, Wiley Coyote, etc. Tell the story of the cartoon movie while tapping. Rate the original event 0 -10 5. Add music to the movie. Choose something with a beat like the polka or rock n roll. Adjust the volume of the music if you wish. Watch your movie with the adjustments while tapping on the points. Make sure to move your body to the rhythm of the music while you are watching/telling the story. Rate the original 0 -10 6. Add an as-if dimension to the movie. In fact change any part of the movie you wish so that the ending becomes what you would prefer. Bring in new characters and/or resources to change the event. Remember the unconscious mind does not differentiate between then and now. Tap and talk and then rate the original 0 -10 7. Imagine the adult you of today, going back in time to the child in the past, and comforting that child by offering help and support which would have changed the imprint/core experience for you. Rate the original again 0 -10 Test and retest your work. Rate your feelings after each stage of the process. Notice the changes in rating and where the original feelings of the trauma were held in the body. You can use all or any of the steps you need. Use your judgment when using the cartoon/humour component in TBT. As you become skilled at using the TBT the time it takes to go through resolving traumatic will become shorter and shorter. Your brain learns quickly and eagerly to let go of painful experiences.

Dear Rehana We are using these techniques with our children and found that they are working well to relieve their psychic trauma (PTS). Both the techniques are applied. Our children get more interest in the imagination techniques of cartoons, putting characters into the cartoons and the reverse process. This technique works in modifying their attitude, self-image and countering anxiety and stress associated with their life events at home or on streets. We have also planned to train our active citizens on these techniques. We are thankful to you for your time with us. We hope whenever you visit Pakistan you will come to DOST, give us time and train us on new techniques. Thank you. Kind regards, Syed Zia-ul Hassan Manager, Dost Welfare Foundation

rom November 16 to 18, 2012 the EFT community held their second EFT conference in Takapuna, Auckland. Local EFT practitioner and trainer Liz Hart, and her team put on a fabulous event. The presentations were varied and very interesting. It was wonderful to see how much skill and experience we have amassed between us.
Saturday morning our volunteer ate three foods she has sensitivity to: wheat, sugar and milk. For the maximum reaction to show up in the blood takes between 90 minutes and two hours. The blood usually returns to normal in 5 hours. Two hours after ingesting the food on Saturday morning a blood sample was taken. This was markedly different from the first one. As you can see (fig 2) the blood had gone into shock, as David described it.
Liz Hart
Briefly, for those of you who are new to EFT: EFT is a technique which utilises a psychological approach while simultaneously lightly tapping acupressure points on the face and upper body. The goal is to alter the electrochemistry of the brain. An altered electrochemistry of the brain leads to a change in emotional and mental response. EFT and EMDR are both techniques that are extremely helpful in working with trauma. One of the presentations was an experiment to see if we could monitor in a visual way the impact EFT has on the body. David Holden, Naturopathic Physician and Nutritional Biochemist, has years of experience with Hemaview Live Blood Analyses. David - being an EFT enthusiast was keen to help. We set the experiment up as follows: we had a volunteer who was aware of having some food sensitivities. On Friday night David took a sample of her blood which was a very clear, healthy looking sample (see fig 1, below).
Once the sample was taken, Mayan would tap with the volunteer, to clear all the symptoms for the client and whatever else might arise during the tapping. Afterwards another blood sample would be taken to examine the effect of the tapping. These samples were shown on a screen. The conference delegates tapped along.
David Holden
As we had this wonderful opportunity of having David there, we also looked at the effects on the practitioner and a member of the audience to see whether the borrowing benefits showed up. Borrowing benefits refers to the benefits anyone gains from tapping along with someone elses issue. We took a sample from Mayan, being the practitioner and Liz Hart, as the borrowing benefits person.
LIFE
Report
As it turned out Mayan had eaten something her blood reacted to. There was some clumping of the blood cells. She had been unaware of any food sensitivities (fig 3).
Mayan regularly checked if anything else had come up for the client. One of the key questions when working with food sensitivity is: When did this first start? What was going on for you at the time? Mayan had checked this out beforehand with our volunteer, to make sure that she remained comfortable with publicly sharing what came up for her. She said that there was no real memory, and she had never liked milk. During the tapping she remembered that her mother didnt like milk either. Was her response genetically or behaviourally influenced? Another thought came up for her about having cravings for milk when she was pregnant, and she wondered whether she had overdone it during that pregnancy. We tapped around these thoughts. No emotion came up for her. We then started tapping for how the blood cells looked. At this point the shock came up again, in a much lesser intensity, and we cleared this. Then we used descriptive words such as: my clumping blood cells, these sticky cells. At that point it seemed we were done. David muscle tested the volunteer, which indicated there was some more to do. We spent another 5 minutes tapping more specifically on the way the blood cells looked and moved, using more specific words (as suggested by David). All this time the audience was tapping along. We tapped for 20 minutes in total. At that point we took more samples from the volunteer, Liz and Mayan, while the group had morning tea.
fig 3. MayansInitial sample Lizs sample initially appeared clear and healthy (fig 4).
We tapped for 15 minutes clearing firstly the shock response which the volunteer had on seeing her very unhealthy looking sample that morning. It is always important to clear shock first as it tends to hold back further progress. Once the volunteer released these feelings of shock we then tapped quite specifically for each of the symptoms she was experiencing. The symptoms she reported were: pounding of the heart, tightness in the chest, congestion in the throat and around the nose. We tapped several rounds on each of these symptoms until all of them cleared. By this time the volunteer was starting to look better.

fig 6. Mayans Final sample Liz had a late breakfast about 25 minutes before her blood sample was taken. David suggested taking another one ten minutes into the tapping. At this point Lizs blood cells were visibly clumping (fig 7).
Lizs blood was negatively responding to something she had ingested. The tapping had sped up the process for Liz. During the second half of session her blood easily cleared (fig 8).

stuck in a rut? LIFE COACHING & EFT could get your life back on track

Life Coaching: The process of identifying and removing obstacles in your life which prevent you from being what you want to be
EFT Practitioner and Life Coach, Carmen Gilfillan, is the owner of Stimulus Development & Training, a private coaching practice in Leicester. Established in 2006, they offer a combination of energy therapy and coaching to help clients find a lasting state of inner peace. Its a unique approach which results in their clients having a much deeper and more holistic wellbeing experience.
his article is about the use of Life Coaching combined with EFT to allow individuals to not only clear their emotional blocks but also to set and achieve goals. Often in life we want to achieve certain goals, but one of the biggest stumbling blocks can be our own sense of inadequacy around achieving them. I have been a Life Coach since 2006, and have been running my own practice since then. I found that clients did want help in achieving certain life goals, such as wanting a particular career, needing to change direction in life, wanting assistance in terms of turning their business around etc.
24
AAMET
However, more and more clients wanted help with areas such as boosting their confidence, needing more self esteem, wanting better relationships etc. These were areas I could help with in terms of assisting my clients to set and achieve certain specific goals regarding, for example, raising their self esteem, but I got to a point when I realised clients were needing something deeper. At that time I was told by two therapist friends separately about EFT. I investigated and used it initially just on myself with dramatic results. I then realised, if I became trained as a practitioner, this was an added area I could bring into my practice and thereby enhance the help I offered my clients. I did so in 2011 and since then I have been helping clients in my unique way by combining Life Coaching with EFT.
LIFE
The System
Ive now developed an entire system I take clients through which involves using both coaching and EFT in a specific way to improve firstly how the client sees him or herself and secondly, setting and achieving realistic goals. The system also occasionally includes the use of Reiki, a further energy tool that helps to balance the clients energy system, and allows them to feel calmer, more together and more grounded. This is sometimes used at the same time as were using the EFT to allow clients to connect to their emotions on a deeper level. In these difficult times, I as a coach am finding the combination of EFT and Life Coaching to be a winning one for many of my clients.
AAMET
This is just one example of how coaching and EFT dovetail, to allow clients to deal with any emotional issues that prevent them from reaching their goals.

My network has been created simply because I tell everyone I know about Tapping, I share it with them with great passion and enthusiasm, I give them experiences and give freely of my time to see how I can help and serve them. A Detailed Case Study I was apprehensive at first but eventually decided to give it a go but with conditions
Arthur, a 72 year old neighbour has been in ill health for 10 years, having had a double heart bypass surgery and knee replacement surgery. However, Arthur is the most positive person that I have come across of late- always smiling, always positive. Arthur loves nothing more than tending to his rose bushes but has not been able to do so lately because of pain in both hands, which he assumed was the onset of arthritis. However, his cardiac consultant has found no medical cause for the pain and just puts it down to age. Having to forgo his favourite past-time has resulted in a change in his personality, with him becoming depressed and moody. Sue, his long-suffering wife, had heard from another neighbour that I was training to be an Emotional Freedom Techniques practitioner and asked me if there was anything I could do to bring him some pain relief so that he could resume his passion for gardening. Arthur himself recognised his recent mood swings especially after Sue replaced all his favourite rose bushes with pots and pots of artificial flowers which Arthur hated. In her defence, Sue informed me that as she too was suffering from ill-health and plastic flowers seemed the best solution to their gardening dilemma! It was low maintenance and they could enjoy the flora all year round! Also, as both are living on a tight budget, they could not afford to pay for the services of a gardener. Neither did they want to accept charity from other neighbours, being the proud couple that they are. Plastic flowers in the garden may have been Sues solution to the present dilemma but it was Arthurs nightmare! I was apprehensive at first, considering his ill health and not wanting to contribute to his health problems any further but I have noticed the change in his personality as well. As he has always been a good neighbour and friend, I eventually decided to give it a go but with the following conditions: 1. That he understood the EFT disclaimer that EFT is not a replacement for any medication, consultation or advice given by medical profession.EFT is also not a diagnostic tool but can help a client respond better to current medical care by improving the energy flow in the body and removing any negative emotions that may impede recovery. 2.That Arthur allow me to fully explain the concept and principles of EFT.I also provided him with as much written material about EFT and pain relief as I could and signposted him to useful sites on the internet, for further research. I felt that Arthur needed to be aware of EFT, not only its potential but also to satisfy his query about possible side-effects. 3. That he watch the DVD The Tapping Solution to have insight into the process and its potential. (Arthur had earlier asked me if I had any videos or reading material to share with him). 4. That he should be honest with me and also let me know if he is suffering any discomfort or pain in the EFT process. I wanted Arthur to have control over the proceedings and wanted him to know that he could stop whenever he wanted. I also wanted to work with Arthur at his own pace and was very mindful of his ill-health. 5. That Arthur is responsible for his emotions (positive and negative). He gave me written permission to practice EFT for pain relief regarding his arthritis in his hands. 6. That Sue is also aware of his decision to try EFT and was in agreement. Finally, I encouraged Arthur to seek the advice of his GP and family before I agreed to proceed. I felt that in view of his severe health problems, it was imperative that there was awareness, understanding and agreement by all concerned, to proceed with EFT.I wanted to address any concerns that medical staff or family may have before commencing. I met Arthur and Sue at their home and waited for their feedback on the above. They had discussed it matter with Arthurs cardiac consultant, his local GP and their daughter and all were in favour of trying EFT. They all knew just how much Arthur missed gardening and how it was now affecting his moods. Everyone wanted what was best for Arthur as he was a much loved and respected person.

THE ASSESSMENT: Ensuring that Arthur was seated comfortably (and in the safety of his home and in Sues presence), I began my EFT consultation in earnest. I asked him to describe the pain in his hands and whether it was more painful in one hand or was the pain affecting both hands equally. I am aware that it is generally accepted that pain is one of the hardest conditions to describe as every persons pain threshold and understanding of pain, is different. I am also aware that arthritic like pain can be different to diagnosed arthritis and as such wanted to avoid any pre-suppositions, from reduced finger co-ordination, reduced general ability and hand dexterity to stiffness of metacarpals and phalanges, on my part. I wanted to get Arthurs perspective on his situation and what abilities and/or limitations he was experiencing. Hence, it was important for Arthur to describe the situation in his own words, especially what it meant to him and how it was affecting him. I wanted Arthur to describe what the word pain meant to him and encouraged him to use metaphors in his descriptions, if he was so inclined. Arthur informed me that both his hands were equally painful and felt sharp pain whenever he tended his roses. He mentioned that his cardiac consultant had said that there was no medical reason why he should feel pain in his hands and was keen to see if EFT could provide an explanation. I decided to use Gwyneth Mosss Imagineering technique to ascertain what the root cause of Arthurs pain was. I explained the technique to Arthur and Sue summing it up as a journey into his body, via the eardrum, to visit the pain site. Arthur laughed saying that it is reminiscent of a 1960s TV show called Journey to the centre of the Earth. He was willing to try it out.

THE EFT IMAGINEERING TECHNIQUE This is a gentle EFT technique that uses ones imagination to connect to the images, emotions and felt senses arising in the right side of the brain.....to gain access to the roots of the dis-ease.- Gwyneth Moss, EFT Master. Using Arthurs reference to the TV show Journey to the centre of the Earth, I asked him to imagine himself inside the spaceship used in the show and to shrink this to the size of a pin-head and to enter his body via the ears. I asked him to manoeuvre this spaceship to whichever organ he wanted. This was a test run to ascertain if Arthur could use his imagination to reach the core issues of his pain. Arthur found this entertaining so I asked him to go back into his body .He wanted to visit his heart and his hands, which he said was the site of his pain. I asked Arthur to describe his journey to his heart first and as he exited his body he described his heart was dark, gloomy and cold .I used the hot words-dark, gloomy and cold to set up the tapping sequence as follows: The setup statement Even though, my heart is dark, gloomy and cold, I deeply and completely accept myself. This was repeated 3 times while stimulating the Karate Chop point. Reminder Phrases: EB (Beginning of eyebrow): This dark, gloomy and cold heart is not healthy. SE (Side of eye): This dark, gloomy and cold heart is not happy. UE (Under eye): This dark, gloomy and cold heart, is that all there is? UN (Under Nose): This dark, gloomy and cold heart is not making me enjoy my life. CH (Chin): This dark, gloomy and cold heart seems lifeless. CB (collar bone): This dark, gloomy and cold heart is scaring me. UA (Under Arm): This dark, gloomy and cold heart, wants to live. TH (Top of head): This dark, gloomy and cold heart, wants to be happy again.

He went on to describe his frustration at not being able to tend to his beloved roses and how much he hated looking at Sues plastic flowers in his garden. Its not fair, was a phrase he repeated over and over again. I asked him to describe the feeling and he said,Its as if Ive had my hands amputated. Whats the use, if I can no longer use my hands? I am disabled! He began to cry but with some comforting words from Sue, he regained his composure with the words, At least, I am still alive. I asked if this last statement was euphoric or said in resignation to his plight to which he replied, well I am not dead yet. I noted Arthurs new Hot words as they emerged during our conversation and these were: ts not fair; Disabled; No use of hands; Amputation; Still alive/ Not dead yet These were highly emotive words used by Arthur to describe his current circumstances. However, I needed to collapse these feelings into one (or two) emotive words that summarised his feelings. I reflected on Gary Craigs table top and table legs analogy and whilst all of Arthurs feelings are important, they may vary in terms of intensity, discomfort, heart felt pain and negativity. Being able to collapse all these emotions into an Arthurs negative emotions grid meant that I could address the most important and intense of these feelings first as well as place them in order of priority. (Arthurs not mine).

ably in the following years and was able to take early retirement at age 50 years, confident that there was sufficient money to see them through the years. However, since moving to Spain, he suffered subsequent heart attacks and had double by-pass surgery which meant that he was presently not able to enjoy the fruits of his hard work and to make matters worse, he could no longer even enjoy gardening. This was his bug bear and he felt useless all over again. This was his explanation about unfairness of it all. New hot word: *His bug bear To be added to unfairness of it all and useless. This emerged repeatedly during the course of our conversation. I reminded Arthur of Gary Craigs Discovery statement of: The cause of all negative emotion is a disruption in the bodys energy system. This negative emotion becomes deeply embedded in a persons psychological and behavioural persona and psyche and any attempt to change theses established patterns of behaviour and thought, will face some degree of resistance from what Anna-Marie Podma, author of The Deeper Secret refers to as the NO current aka the unconscious realm. This No current is the key saboteur of many change programmes and needs to be neutralised before treatment can commence. It will also ensure that psychological reversal of the negative emotion takes place, thus putting a stop to any interference with further efforts to overcome the problem.
However, before proceeding, I informed Arthur that I needed to take an Intensity Rating at this point as I could see that Arthur was getting emotional and felt that it was opportune to take an advantage of Arthurs in the moment response to the problem. I explained the Intensity Rating procedure to him and asked for a Subjective Unit of Distress (SUD) between zero (lowest) and 10 (highest). He said it was a 7. I explained the nature and purpose of using the Basic recipe in which Arthur will: *Be a participant and not a bystander, in the process *Receptive accountability and responsibility of the emotions emerging in the process. As Arthur and Sue are a loving and close couple, I decided to also include Sue in the process so that she too could: *Understand Arthurs perspective of his current predicament. *Understand the range of emotions he was experiencing at the moment. *Be a co-participant in the healing process. *Be emotionally supportive to Arthur in his healing process. I also explained to Sue that by being a co-participant, she would also benefit herself. The Borrowing a benefit concept was explained fully. This made Sue more eager to help in the process as she now had two vested interests in the healing process: her husbands wellbeing and her own.
LIFE
THE BASIC RECIPE THE SETUP STATEMENT I explained to Arthur and Sue that there were two parts to the setup statement-The Even though part and the affirmation part I deeply and completely accept myself. Arthur however, felt that it was arrogant to say I deeply and completely accept myself and that when I had used it as part of the Imagineering technique, the words were alien to him and did not sit well with him. I asked him to choose an affirmation that suited him better and he wanted to use instead, I deserve to feel better. Knowing Arthur as the proud man that he is, I thought his choice of affirmation was appropriate to him. I also felt that his affirmation sentence provided him with empowering words, emotions and determination to achieve his healing goal, that is, to feel better so he could enjoy his retirement with Sue and enjoy gardening once more. Note: It is important that the client chooses words that resonate with him/her as this will not only expedite the healing process but makes the process more personal, empowering and directed by the person themselves. Hence Arthur decided the following setup statement, while tapping on his Karate Chop (KC).To enhance Arthurs psychological receptiveness for the desired change via Psychological Reversal, I asked him to repeat the affirmation 3 times while stimulating the Karate Chop. I also asked Sue to repeat the actions and statements used by Arthur and me in the tapping sequence. This she did. Even though, I feel this pain in my hands and feel useless, I deserve to feel better. After repeating the statement
3 times, I asked Arthur to stop, take a deep breath and give me another Intensity Rating. He was embarrassed to tell me that it had risen to an 8.He did not want to let me down but I reassured him that firstly, it was normal for changes in intensity ratings to shift up or down and secondly, the EFT procedure was not about pleasing me but was his own healing programme and what matted most, was his healing. This relaxed him more and he began to enjoy the procedure. Next, we started the Tapping sequence, using Reminder phrases to describe the problem. Why is this important? The Tapping Sequence is designed to restore an optimal flow of energy through the bodys meridians or energy pathways. To treat a problem by stimulating acupoints, the energy disruptions must be mentally activated. Therefore, tapping on the 8 acupoints in this sequence, while thinking of the problem not only balances the energy system in the moment, but it also retrains the body to be able to hold the problematic thought without the energy disruption and thereby neutralising the unwanted negative energy. By continually tapping, while repeating the Reminder Phrases will, in this case, help Arthur keep himself psychologically attuned to the situation that has triggered his negative emotions of feeling uselessness and unfairness of it all while the stimulation of the 8 acupoints will help neutralise them in the process. This was explained fully to Arthur and Sue not only to increase their awareness of the healing powers of EFT but also so that they understand the purpose and the importance of the choice of words, the effect
of stimulating specific acupoints to remove energy blockages and the neutralisation impact of using affirmations in the process. EB (Beginning of eyebrow)-This sharp pain, this uselessness, this unfairness, it is stopping me from enjoying my life presently. SE (side of eye)-This sharp pain, it unfair! UE (Under eye)-This sharp pain, it hurts my hands. UN (Under Nose)-This useless sharp pain, it is not benefitting me at the moment CH (Chin)-This unfair sharp pain, I want it gone. CB (collar bone)-This unfair sharp pain, is affecting my health even more. UA (under Arm) - This useless sharp pain, what good is it doing me. TH (Top of head) - This sharp painful pain, its stopping me from doing the things I enjoy. I then asked Arthur to take a deep breath and to guess his Intensity rating and he was as surprised as I was when he said it was a 2! However, at this point, I noticed that Arthur was feeling tired and I was concerned for his health. Arthur confirmed that he was tired and I explained that it was one of the side effects of the process but was a positive indication that the energy was beginning to flow. I asked him if he wanted to carry on and he said yes. However, noticing how tired he was, I decided not to proceed with the full Basic Recipe and omitted the Nine-gamut procedure as I felt it would be too much for him and would only prolong the process. I asked him if the pain in his hands was still sharp and he said that it was more of a pin prick.

I reassured her that EFT and changes to negative emotions was permanent. However, she could discuss this at length, if she still had any doubts. A week passed and no word from Arthur or Sue. I decided to pay them a visit. Arthur welcomed me with open arms and was proud to show me his new rose bush in a pot. Sue too was equally pleased and informed me that she has seen her husband suffer a lot and was therefore naturally concerned for his wellbeing. She also said that after the session, Arthur felt very sleepy and slept quite a bit for two days. However, on the third day, he insisted that Sue drive him to the local garden centre as he wanted to buy a rose bush. Planting the new shrub in a pot, rather than in the ground, meant that Arthur could sit comfortably while tending to his rose bush without exertion. Arthur told me that inspired by EFT, he plans to tap every day until he replaces all of Sues plastic plants with real ones! This was Arthur being creative, enjoying his passion once more for gardening albeit with potted plants and visualising his Palace of Possibilities. Thats his new goal for the future. As for Sue, her borrowed benefit was to be a happier person and enjoy each day for what it is.

Learning Note:
In this case study, I have learnt some invaluable lessons. *To ensure that a client with severe health problems is aware and understands the disclaimer that EFT is not a replacement for on-going medication, treatment and medical advice. The client should, where possible, discuss his/her intention to partake in EFT and receive advice from the GP/consultant. *To ensure that a client with severe health problems is made aware of not only the benefits but also the possible side effects of EFT. *Listening to key hot words is crucial. So is any shift in emotion or metaphor to describe the situation. * It is important for the client to choose their own metaphors or emotive words to describe what they are feeling. The more a client resonates with their words, the faster the healing and subsequent empowerment. *How crucial it is that the client understands all the elements and steps of the tapping procedure so that they can own their emotions, accept responsibility and understand what is happening or likely to happen to their bodies, emotions and behaviour. *That there is no script or prescribed sequence for EFT. That the tapping sequence is just a suggestion as it is easier to undertake and remember. *That the entire EFT session is customer focused, customer led (direction) and solution based. * That it is okay for a practitioner, like me, to be flexible and not to follow the tapping sequence rigidly. The tapping sequence needs to fit the persons requirements in the moment itself and it is important for the practitioner to be aware of the clients change in mood, behaviour, emotions and inner strength In this case, I had previously intended to use the full Basic Recipe including the nine-gamut points but seeing Arthurs exhaustion, made me decide to omit this sequence in favour of the short-cut version after all. What is important is that the means justifies the end and in this case, Arthur achieved his goal and is now pain free and able to enjoy his hobby again. * Perseverance is key and if one technique does not work, then to try another till the right fit is found. Hence it is important for the practitioner to have more than one EFT tool in the toolkit.
