US20090181596 Hovercraft toy Disclosed is a hovercraft toy including: a body, which includes, a fan for sending air in order to allow the body to hover and propel; a motor for rotationally driving the fan; an accumulator battery for supplying electric power to the motor; a base for supporting the fan, the motor and the battery at a top thereof; and a skirt arranged on a peripheral part of a bottom part of the base and formed in a shape of bag to be expandable and contractable, wherein the base includes an input terminal on an under surface thereof, the terminal being connectable to an external power source for charging the battery, and the skirt is formed to have an opening on an under surface thereof so as to allow the input terminal to be exposed downwardly. The hovercraft toy according to claim 1, further comprising; a battery charger as the external power source provided separately from the body, the battery charger including an output terminal for charging the battery when the output terminal is touched to the input terminal, wherein the output terminal is provided on an upper surface of the battery charger on which a bottom face of the body is to be placed. 3. The hovercraft toy according to claim 2, wherein the battery charger includes a concave portion to be fit to the periphery part of the bottom part of the body, and the output terminal is formed to be touched to the input terminal when the body is fit to the concave portion.

4. The hovercraft toy according to claim 2, wherein the battery charger is a remote controller for remote controlling the body. 5. The hovercraft toy according to claim 2, wherein each of the input terminal and the output terminal is composed of a magnet so that a magnetic attractive force interacts therebetween. 6. The hovercraft toy according to claim 1, wherein the accumulator battery includes a lithium polymer battery or a gold capacitor. 7. The hovercraft toy according to claim 1, wherein the fan is composed of an ABS resin; the base is composed of a plastic material; and the skirt is composed of a polyvinyl resin.

An apparatus to create toy vehicles, the apparatus comprising: an adjustable length chassis; an axle rotatably attached to the adjustable length chassis; and a motor attached to the adjustable length chassis to turn the axle. 9. The apparatus as recited in claim 8, wherein the adjustable length chassis is a telescoping chassis. 10. The apparatus as recited in claim 8, wherein the adjustable length chassis is connected to a controller.

11. The apparatus as recited in claim 8, further comprising flat pattern sheets embodying a vehicle design. 12. A kit to create toy vehicles, the kit comprising: computer modeling software performing: receiving a selection of a vehicle type comprising one of at least both a land vehicle and an air vehicle; printing on paper or other thin material indicia based on the vehicle type that is used to construct a vehicle body based on the selection; and an interchangeable power supply, motor, and receiver, to attach to the vehicle body thereby allowing the vehicle body to be controlled remotely from a remote control transmitting to the receiver, wherein the interchangeable power supply, motor, and receiver are used regardless of whether a land vehicle or air vehicle is selected. 24. An apparatus to create toy vehicles, the kit comprising: a controller comprising a receiver, a steering device connected to the receiver, and a power supply; a remote control to transmit a remote signal to the receiver to control the steering device remotely; a digital storage medium storing software to print indicia on a thin substrate to create a printed substrate, wherein the printed substrate is constructed using the printed indicia into a vehicle body which is attached to the controller to form a remotely controlled toy vehicle. 25. The apparatus as recited in claim 24, wherein the remotely controlled toy vehicle is selected by an operator before the printed substrate is printed to be at least one of a land vehicle or an air vehicle.

26. A method to create a toy vehicle, the method comprising: designing, by an operator, a digital vehicle body using a modeling program; printing out sheet(s) based on the digital vehicle body; folding or cutting the sheet(s) based on indicia on the sheet(s) to form a vehicle which corresponds to the digital vehicle body; and attaching the vehicle to a controller, the controller comprising a power supply and a receiver. 27. 27-29. (canceled) 30. The method as recited in claim 26, wherein an operator of the modeling program can choose to design and form a set of vehicles comprising at least both a car and an airplane. 31. The method as recited in claim 26, wherein the designing comprises receiving a two dimensional image for a particular vehicle element, and the printing prints sheet(s) comprising the particular vehicle element using the two dimensional image. 40. operator, a digital car body using a modeling program; printing out sheet(s) based on the digital car body; folding or cutting the sheet(s) based on indicia on the sheet(s) to form a car which corresponds to the digital car body; attaching the car to a controller, the controller comprising a power supply and a motor, wherein the motor is used to propel the car; designing, by an operator, a digital airplane body using the modeling program; printing out sheet(s) based on the digital airplane body; folding or cutting the sheet(s) based on indicia on the sheet(s) to form an airplane which corresponds to the digital airplane body; removing the controller from the car; attaching the airplane to the controller; and flying the airplane, wherein the motor is used to propel the airplane. 49. A kit to create toy vehicles, the kit comprising: a land vehicle flat pattern embodying a land vehicle; an air vehicle flat pattern embodying an air vehicle; an interchangeable power supply, motor, and receiver, that attaches to and controls both a constructed land vehicle constructed from the land vehicle flat pattern and a constructed air vehicle constructed from the air vehicle flat pattern, the interchangeable power supply, motor, and receiver allowing both vehicles to be controlled remotely from a remote control transmitting to the receiver.

A radio controlled (RC) homeostatic flying hovercraft comprising: a flying structure having lift generated by at least four electrically, powered generally downwardly directed thrusters, said flying structure including: a homeostatic control system operably connected to said thrusters that automatically controls a thrust produced by each thruster in order to automatically maintain a desired orientation of said flying structure, said homeostatic control system including at least a three dimensional sensor system and associated control circuitry that dynamically determines an inertial gravitational reference for use by said homeostatic control system in automatic control of said thrusters; a radio frequency (RF) receiver; and a battery system electrically coupled to said thrusters, said RF receiver and said homeostatic control system; and an RC controller separate and remote from said flying structure and adapted to control said desired orientation of said flying structure, said RC controller including: a handheld structure housing a sensor system that senses at least a two dimensional sensed orientation of said handheld structure as a result of a user remote from said flying structure selectively orienting said handheld structure; and an RF transmitter that communicates information based on said sensed orientation to said receiver of said flying structure as said desired orientation used by said homeostatic control system to automatically control said thrusters to maintain said desired orientation. 2. The RC homeostatic flying hovercraft of claim 1 wherein said flying structure comprises a body housing said thrusters within a perimeter of said body. 3. The RC homeostatic flying hovercraft of claim 1 wherein each of said thrusters comprises an electrically powered ducted fan. 4. The RC homeostatic flying hovercraft of claim 1 wherein said RF receiver of said flying structure and said RF transmitter of said RC controller are each RF transceivers providing two-way RF communications between said flying structure

and said RC controller. 5. The RC homeostatic flying hovercraft of claim 1 wherein each of said thrusters is positioned in said flying structure so as to be tilted at an angle relative to downward when said flying structure is in a horizontal orientation, said angle being less than about 15 degree. 6. A radio controlled (RC) homeostatic flying hovercraft comprising: a flying structure including: at least four electrically, powered generally downwardly directed thrusters; sensing means for dynamically determining an actual orientation of said flying structure; control means for automatically controlling a thrust produced by each of said thrusters to maintain a desired orientation of said flying structure in response to said actual orientation; radio means for radio frequency (RF) communication of said desired orientation; and battery means for providing electrical power to said thrusters, said control means and said radio means; and an RC controller separate and remote from said flying structure including: a handheld structure housing means for sensing at least a two dimensional sensed orientation of said handheld structure in response to a user remote from said flying structure selectively orienting said handheld structure; and radio means for RF communication of information based on said sensed orientation with said radio means of said flying structure as said desired orientation for said control means automatically controlling said thrusters. 7. The RC homeostatic flying hovercraft of claim 6 wherein said flying structure comprises means for housing said thrusters, said sensing means, said control means, said radio mean and said battery means within a perimeter of said means for housing. 8. The RC homeostatic flying hovercraft of claim 6 where said radio mean of said flying structure and said RC controller are each RF transceivers providing two-way RF communications between said flying structure and said RC controller. 9. The RC homeostatic flying hovercraft of claim 6 where said control means automatically controls said thrusters to maintain moment-to-moment balance and stabilization of said flying structure such that said desired orientation includes information only for an intended orientation of said flying structure and an intended motion in which said flying structure is to be directed without information for control of moment-to-moment balance and stabilization of said flying structure. 10. A method for operating a radio controlled (RC) homeostatic flying hovercraft having at least four battery powered generally downwardly directed thrusters using an RC controller separate and remote from said flying hovercraft, said method comprising: providing as part of said RC controller a handheld structure housing a sensor system; using said sensor system in said RC control to sense at least a two

dimensional sensed orientation of said handheld structure in response to a user remote from said flying structure selectively orienting said handheld structure; communicating a desired orientation by radio frequency (RF) communication information to said flying hovercraft, said desired orientation including information based on said sensed orientation of said handheld structure; using a sensor system in said flying hovercraft to dynamically determine an actual orientation of said flying hovercraft; using control circuitry in said flying hovercraft to automatically and dynamically control a thrust produced by each of said thrusters to achieve and homeostatically maintain said actual orientation of said flying hovercraft in response to said desired orientation communicated to said flying hovercraft and said actual orientation determined by said sensor system in said flying hovercraft without additional control information communicated to said flying hovercraft.

A toy supported on a self-generated air cushion for movement over a surface, comprising: a base for the toy; a pillow located beneath the base and adapted to be placed adjacent to the surface, the pillow having a top sheet and a bottom perforated sheet, which are joined; and a fan driven by a battery-powered motor for drawing air into the pillow and expelling air from the pillow through perforations in the bottom sheet, and onto the surface, the fan being located centrally and substantially within the pillow and attached to the base for the toy; and wherein, there is a housing for the fan and motor, the housing having a roof, side walls and a floor, and wherein the housing is removably attached to the base for the toy.

2. A toy as set out in claim 1, wherein air is drawn into the pillow through the housing. 3. A toy as set out in claim 1, wherein the pillow is plastic. 4. A toy as set out in claim 1, wherein the housing is located centrally of the base for the toy. 5. A toy as set out in claim 1, wherein the top sheet of the pillow is attached to the periphery of the roof of the housing. 6. A toy as set out in claim 1, wherein the bottom sheet is attached to the periphery of the floor of the housing. 7. A toy as set out in claim 1, wherein the top sheet and the bottom sheet have edges which are joined.

8. A toy as set out in claim 1, further comprising a switch for the motor and wherein the floor of the housing allows access to the switch to switch the motor on and off. 9. A toy as set out in claim 1, wherein the toy remains generally at one location until a force external to the toy is applied to the toy. 10. A toy as set out in claim 1, wherein the base of the toy has an aperture and the roof includes a cover which fits into the aperture. 11. A toy as set out in claim 1, wherein the base is a platform and there is a figure removably mounted on the platform. 12. A toy as set out in claim 1, wherein the base is a platform and there is a figure permanently mounted on the platform. 13. A toy supported on a self-generated air cushion for movement over a surface, comprising: a platform having a bottom surface and a top surface, a plastic pillow located beneath the platform, and adjacent to the surface, and having a top and a bottom perforated sheet, which are joined, a battery-powered fan for drawing air into the pillow and expelling air frown the pillow through perforations in the bottom sheet, the battery-powered fan being located centrally and substantially within the pillow and having a switch, and a housing for the battery-powered fan, the housing being located centrally of the platform and having a roof, side walls and a floor, and wherein the top sheet of the pillow is attached to the roof and the bottom sheet is attached to the floor and wherein the housing is removably attached to the bottom surface of the platform, wherein the floor allows access to the switch to switch the motor on and off.

14. A toy as set out in claim 13, wherein the top sheet and the bottom sheet have edges which are joined. 15. A toy as set out in claim 13, wherein the toy remains generally at one location until a force external to the toy is applied to the toy. 16. A toy as set out in claim 13, wherein the platform has an aperture and the roof fits into the aperture. 17. A toy as set out in claim 13, further comprising a figure mounted on the top surface of the platform. 18. A toy as set out in claim 17, wherein the figure is permanently mounted.

An air-cushion vehicle toy comprising: a chassis; a propeller fan mounted on said chassis; a first motor mounted on said chassis, for driving said propeller fan; a hovering fan mounted on said chassis; a second motor mounted on said chassis, for driving said hovering fan; a power supply mounted on said chassis and selectively connectable to said first motor and said second motor, for energizing the first motor and the second motor, said power supply and said first and second motors constituting a power supply circuit; a body detachably mounted on said chassis in covering relation to said propeller fan, said first motor, said hovering fan, said second motor, and said power supply; and a power cutoff mechanism disposed in said power supply circuit, for breaking said power supply circuit to de-energize said first and second motors, when said body is removed from said chassis, and for making said power supply circuit when said body is attached to said chassis.

2. An air-cushion vehicle toy according to claim 1, wherein said power cutoff mechanism comprises a fixed contact fixed to said chassis, a movable contact disposed in said power supply circuit and normally spaced from said fixed contact, and an engaging member end attached to said body, and wherein said engaging member end is engageable with said movable contact to bring said movable contact into contact with said fixed contact, thereby making said power supply circuit,

when said body is attached to said chassis. 3. An air-cushion vehicle toy according to claim 1, further comprising: a first motor attachment structure by which said first motor is installed on said chassis; and a second motor attachment structure by which said second motor is installed on said chassis; said first motor attachment structure comprising a first holder frame mounted on said chassis and accommodating said first motor, said first holder frame having at least one recess, and a first attachment attached to said first holder frame to secure said first motor and having at least one resilient finger which resiliently engages in said recess in said first holder frame; said second motor attachment structure comprising a second holder frame mounted on said chassis and accommodating said second motor, said second holder frame having at least one recess, and a second attachment attached to said second holder frame to secure said second motor and having at least one resilient finger which resiliently engages in said recess in said second holder frame.

An air-cushion vehicle toy according to claim 3, wherein said first attachment has a resilient tooth resiliently held against said first motor to press the first motor against said first holder frame, and said second attachment has a resilient tooth resiliently held against said second motor to press said second motor against said second holder frame. 5. An air-cushion vehicle toy according to claim 3, wherein said second motor attachment structure includes a casing integral with said second attachment and surrounding said hovering fan. 6. An air-cushion vehicle toy according to claim 1, further comprising: a skirt mounted on a lower surface of said chassis; said skirt defining a pressure space for ejecting downwardly of the toy part of air under pressure delivered by said hovering fan; said skirt having a plurality of holes for ejecting the remainder of the air under pressure delivered by said hovering fan, said holes being defined in a lower surface thereof and arranged in surrounding relation to said pressure space when viewed in plan.

7. An air-cushion vehicle toy according to claim 6, wherein said skirt has an

opening for introducing said remainder of the air under pressure into the skirt itself so as to guide said remainder of the air under pressure toward said holes; said skirt comprising a bag of thin film made of soft resin, so that said skirt is inflatable downwardly when said remainder of the air under pressure is introduced into said skirt through said opening.
