Ku-Band Antenna
ACU has three main functions of antenna to control :-
(a) Elevation
(b) Azimuth
(c) Polarization
a" Elevation + Ele3ation refers to the angle 4etween the dish pointing direction
directly towards the satellite and the local hori1ontal plane" It is the up+down angle"
4" Azimuth + 01imuth refers to the rotation of the whole antenna around a 3ertical
axis" It is the side to side angle" Typically you loosen the main mount 4racket and
swing the whole dish all the way around in a :=9 deg circle" 8y definition North is
9 deg East is ;9 deg .outh is 189 deg"
and west is 2A9 deg" North can also 4e called :=9 deg"
c" Polarization - The polari1ation of an antenna is the
orientation of the electric field $E+plane' of the radio wa3e
with respect to the EarthKs surface and is determined 4y the
physical structure of the antenna and 4y its orientation"
