Design Expertise
Sandy Chilewich, founder and creative director, launched her textiles into the international design community in 2000.

Sandy unquestionably changed the way we dine in hotels and restaurants across the world. She took the tablecloth off the table.

At first glance these textiles are simply beautiful, but Sandys passion is to make beauty functional.

From breakfast...

...to dinner,

her placemats and runners are durable, stain-resistant and washable.

At the Chilewich headquarters, Sandy and her team design new collections each year.

The design process begins with their unique extruded yarn.

Most often, these yarns are designed with two separate colors on each individual yarn... sometimes up to 10 different colors in just one weave.

The result is

complex...

...and versatile.

Is this purple?

It is somewhere in between, as all of these subtle tones converge and inspire.

Chilewich stretches the boundaries of texture in addition to color.

Developing new yarns, we created Lattice.

Developing new manufacturing techniques, we created Spun.

Using molds, we created Dahlia...

Chilewich is a family business owned by Sandy and her partner/ husband Joe Sultan.

...and the ability to create custom sizes and shapes.

Environmental Initiatives which Set Chilewich Apart from Others

Chilewich is 100% phthalate-free, and we now have reengineered our yarns to contain 25% renewable vegetable content.

By 2015, all of our yarns will be Terrastrand, our proprietary name for this advanced yarn.

Our woven vinyl products contain Microban antimicrobial protection. Microban works continuously for the lifetime of the product to inhibit the growth of stain and odor causing bacteria, mold and mildew.

Chilewich fabrics are GREENGUARD certified, which protects human health and quality of life through the reduction of chemical exposure and improved indoor air quality.
