Ng mihi nui ki a koutou Greetings to you all, Thank you morning tea: We would like to invite all our wonderful volunteers to a thank you morning tea in our school hall on Thursday 28th November at 10.30am. We have many dedicated parents, extended family members and friends of the school who give up their time to help during the year in various ways including the MI Mates fundraising committee, parents who come in to school several times each week to read with individual students, parents who coach sports teams or provide transport. Also our parents who spent a week at Totara Springs with Sports Camp and the farming families who were able to rear a calf to donate to school fundraising. To name all our school helpers and volunteers would take up the entire newsletter, please except this as an invitation to our thank you morning tea if you have helped our school in any way during the year. It is certainly true that it takes a community to raise a child and we are truly grateful, as a school, for all the voluntary time we receive. School Athletics Day: Our students all enjoyed a day of Athletics today with sprint finals taking place tomorrow afternoon. It is great to see the students getting involved and enjoying themselves, results will be included in next weeks newsletter. Thank you to families who were able to come down to school and support the children throughout the day. Families are very welcome to come to the sprint finals tomorrow after lunch. Year 8 College Testing: All Year 8 students who are enrolled to start Morrinsville College next year will bring home a notice today outlining the details of the college testing which will take place at Morrinsville College next week. Students will walk to Morrinsville College in class groups, accompanied by a teacher from our school who will stay with them during the testing. Students will need to take a drink and their morning tea / lunch with them. Our students will not be able to make purchases from the college canteen. School Rock Bands: Our two school rock bands (Stone Cold Envy and Fuse) took part in the Rockshop Bandquest Waikato competition last night at the Clarence Street Theatre in Hamilton, which involved schools from around the Waikato playing a set of covers or original songs. Bands are encouraged to play originals but the main focus is performance skills. This is a great opportunity for our students to experience performing in front of a large audience and see what bands from other schools have been up to. Thank You Morning Tea

Our thank you morning tea for all our wonderful parents and caregivers who have helped out during the year is being held on Thursday 28th November at 10.30am in our school hall; please accept this as an invitation to all volunteers who have helped this year.

The MIS Sports Councillors are doing an amazing job. Besides their roles of PE Shed duty, running and setting up sports events and activities, they have also started to complete a Growing Leaders Program initiated by SPARC. The students involved will be completing this program on Sunday from 9.30am to 3.30pm here at school. A BBQ lunch will be provided. Students will need a drink, morning tea, an afternoon snack, hat, footwear and sunscreen (any donations of fruit for the day or a salad for lunch would be great). Students will gain the skills and confidence to help them become a leader, not only in the sports arena, but across other areas too. Whanau are more than welcome to join us throughout the day. We would also like to encourage you to come and view the game Ki-o-rahi that students have been taught and are now leading on Friday sports. Japan Student Exchange

On Monday 16th September seven very excited students from MIS travelled to Auckland Airport in the early hours of the morning to take part in the 2013 exchange programme to Japan. This exchange has been going on for 18 years. After an extremely long flight, we finally arrived at Narita Airport. It was 5pm on an Autumn evening but it felt like one of the hottest days in the middle of summer. We were exhausted but pleased to finally meet out host families after three months of emailing each other. Before we knew it, days had passed and we couldn't believe how many things we had done in just two weeks. Our main highlights included going to Tokyo Disney Land and Disney Sea, meeting lots of new people and making new friends, lots of shopping and spending time with our host families, going to school on Saturdays, staying at school late at night, travelling on the trains, trying new food and using the unique toilets. It was sad to say goodbye and we hope we can meet up with our host families again one day. We will never forget this amazing experience. We strongly recommend this trip to all the Year 7s that would like to take part in the 2014 exchange so start fundraising now! MORRINSVILLE INTERMEDIATE CRICKET REPORT

MIS Heat travelled to Te Awamutu on Saturday. Te Awamutu batted first and scored 99 all out. Bowling: Luke Meiklejohn 3 for 6 off 5 overs and Jayden Trethaway 3 for 8 off 3 overs. MIS Heat then batted second after losing a wicket off the second ball, then had some good partnerships and were in a good position at drinks at 61 for 3. Then carried on after drinks to chase down the target of 100 runs in the 24 th over. Batting: Keegan Hamerton 24, Jack Devane 22 and Max Wilson 18 Not Out. A good win, well done boys. MIS Thunder played Hamilton Old Boys Cobras and fielded first, with HOB scoring 142 for 7. Wickets were shared by Logan Pike, Max Rappe, Mark Haddock and Ewan Wilson. There were three run-outs from Ewan, Rhys/Nate and Nate. MIS Thunder were all out for 24 in the 18th over. Nat Hopkins battered for 16.4 overs (on a very hot day) and Sam Metcalfe showed skill running between the wickets. Player of the day Sam Metcalfe, for improvement with bat & ball.
