Triple the success for Gurumu Trio at Novembers Dan Promotion!

Manor Sports Complex, Mansfield Woodhouse, was electrified with the passion and power Taekwondoists from across the country put into their martial art, as they did some final practise minutes before Dan Grading last weekend. BT members of all sizes and ages milled about the large sports complex as they anticipated their individual gradings. As many of you know, even our President, Master Adrian Tranter, stood among the ranks of candidates determined to move up a grade. On the Saturday, a trio of 12-year-old boys stood among these ranks, similar in size well mostly - and identical in age. Though jokes were made on the day about Ismali, left, being fed treble the amount of his brothers, they were also remarkably similar in looks. These three boys are triplets. Yes, triplets! believed to be the first set to ever attend the National Dan Promotion. Ismali, Ilyas and Ibrahim Hussain (pictured from left to right with President Adrian Tranter) are from Gants Hill, Essex. Two of the boys attend Beal High, while sibling Ismali attends Ilford County High. All three are part of the Gurumu team that was headed by Coach Harwinder Singh on the day. Head Coach Sivakumar Renganathan was away, deployed in Croatia for the Open there. The triplets Taekwondo adventure began when their father introduced them to Master Esrar Ahmed of Hadri Taekwondo Academy in Walthamstow at the young age of six. Due to their relocation to Gants Hill, they were transferred to the experienced hands of Mr Sivakumar Renganathan, head coach of Gurumu Taekwondo. Sivakumar also holds the position of British National Cadet Coach at GB Taekwondo. The trio continue to kick it up in unison, as they are currently also part of the GB National Cadet Academy and train regularly in Manchester. They compete on a consistent basis, and have been successful nationally and internationally.

All three successfully achieved the rank of 1st Poom, and actually paid a special visit to Master Esrar Ahmed at Hadri Taekwondo, to personally thank him. Master Esrar was delighted to hear about his formerstudents achievement. Siva was similarly thrilled to hear about their success, having kept in close communication on the day with his team. Gurpreet Singh, another Gurumu member, was successful in achieving 1st Dan, so Siva was delighted with the knowledge that all had done him proud on the day. The weekend was an exceptionally golden one for Gurumu, as two of the cadet competitors also attained 1st place medals in Croatia. The club achieved 2nd place overall in the Cadet Division.

Wed like to say a massive congratulation to Ismali, Ilyas, Ibrahim and Gurpreet, along with all of those who attended the Grading weekend of the 9th this month. It was a fantastic two days, and very successful indeed!
