: Students will learn about different features of each Texas region including: landforms, natural resources, crops, animals, and major cities. Students will use the Internet to help them as they research each region. Objective: TEK 4.7 Geography. The student understands the concept of regions. The student is expected to: (B) Identify, locate, and compare the geographic regions of Texas (Mountains and Basins, Great Plains, North Central Plains, Coastal Plains), including their landforms, climate, and vegetation; TEK 4.3 TECHNOLOGY: Research and information fluency. The student acquires and evaluates digital content. The student is expected to: (B) collect and organize information from a variety of formats, including text, audio, video, and graphics; The student should be able to: - Identify and explain all four of the geographic regions of Texas - Compare and contrast between the four regions - Conduct appropriate research to aid them in their region presentation Format and Procedures of Instruction: This lesson is an ongoing unit over the four geographic regions of Texas. To begin, students will be grouped into four different groups (Mountains and Basins, Great Plains, North Central Plains, and Coastal Plains) and will read a passage about their region. Guided Practice: Students will work in their groups and fill out a graphic organizer with information on their assigned region. Students will then come up with a detailed plan of a large poster they will create to present to the remainder of the class. At this time students will show the teacher their plan to get the OK and move forward with their online research. Independent Practice: Students will conduct online research on their assigned region and will print out any information they find. They will use the information they found online and will add it to their poster. Closure: Once the research and poster creation is complete by all four groups, each group will present their region. Students will have a table/chart to fill out as other group present. All students will have their table/chart filled out and then as a group we will compare each region to see where they are different and alike.

Materials: Regions of Texas passage (5-6 of each region) Texas Regions graphic organizer Poster board (4 one for each group) Table/Chart for each region Schedule of Region unit Where should students be?
