Process: Transfer of Scheduled Surgical Patient to the OR

Surgeon decides that patient is in need for a surgical intervention


Patients encounter may happen at OPD or at the Surgeons private clinic

Patient performs necessary investigations

Laboratory and Radiological reports

The registrar goes to the OR reception to schedule the surgery by filling the theatre schedule request form

The OR ward clerk should NOT call the inpatient unit until he/she sees the surgeon arriving at the OR

OR ward clerk calls the OR porter and the OR elevator

Trolley should be checked daily and after each patient transfer
