U.S. Des. Patent No. D496,249S. Other patents pending.
Stainless steel hardware can seize up,
a process called galling. To sig ni cant ly
reduce its like li hood, (1) apply lubricant
to bolts, preferably an anti-seize lu bri cant, avail-
able at auto parts stores, (2) shade hardware
prior to installation, and (3) avoid spinning on
nuts at high speed. See Installation Supplement
910, Galling and Its Prevention, at www.Unirac.
com.
The installer is solely re spon si ble for:
complying with all applicable building codes,
including any that supercede these instruc-
tions;
pole installation appropriate to local wind and
soil conditions;
using only Unirac parts and installer-supplied
parts as specied by Unirac (substitution of
parts will void the warranty);
installing all electrical aspects of the PV array.

hardware to mount 2 to 6 modules.
Thank you for purchasing a Unirac. Please review this
manual com plete ly before proceeding.
This rack is intended for a 3-inch (80 mm) Schedule 40
steel pole, outside diameter 3.500 inches (88.9 mm).
Assembly order is not critical. Work from the pole out-
ward or attach PV modules to rails before mounting the
array to the pole.
The SunWize 170/175/180 module falls into the mid-range of price and efciency and
is aimed at residential and commercial grid-tie applications. It is made of high efciency
mono-crystalline silicon solar cells. Every cell is tested and electronically matched to
maximize output. The modules are manufactured according to the strict requirements of
international and US quality standards. 25-year limited warranty.
Features include:
Cells are laminated between sheets of ethyl vinyl acetate (EVA) for moisture free
protection, UV stability and electrical isolation
Tempered, high-transmittance glass is used for strength and high power output
The module is framed with a strong, corrosion-resistant clear anodized aluminum with
multiple mounting holes for ease of installation
Modules are equipped with multi-string by-pass diodes so that the modules will function
even if partially shaded
Highly resistant to hail, moisture, wind speed and other environmental factors
Junction box is equipped with + and MC 3mm (36 male/female) cables
Wide operating range: from -45C to 95C with 100% relative humidity
US listed to UL-1703, cUL and IEC international standards

Patented Maximum Power Point Tracking technology allows
our controller to increase charge current up to 30 or more
compared to conventional charge controllers. Don't waste your
money by throwing PV power away! Get the power you paid for
with our charge controller.
Solar Lighting's advanced fully automatic 3-stage charge
control system will properly charge fooded lead-acid, AGM and
GEL batteries resulting in improved battery performance with less
maintenance. Te dual 30/40 amp rating will deliver at up to 30
amps in 24 volt systems, or up to 40 amps in 12 volt systems. An
automatic or manual equalize function is also provided to
periodically condition fooded lead-acid batteries.
Te user confgurable auxiliary output can serve as either a 20 amp
load controller, or as a 2 amp auxiliary battery charger. Te load
control feature can be used to limit excessive battery discharge in
unattended remote systems, whereas the auxiliary battery charge
feature is ideal for charging a separate battery such as the engine
battery in an RV. Te auxiliary output can also provide fully
adjustable dusk to dawn lighting control.
Our network, allows up to 8 IPN capable charge controllers to
communicate with each other and operate as a single machine
rather than separate charge controllers. Te IPN network also
allows networked controllers to share an optional battery
temperature sensor and remote display. Te IPN network does not
require a display or other special communication hardware to
operate.

Our controllers increase charge current by operating the
PV module in a manner that allows the module to produce all
the power it is capable of. A conventional charge controller
simply connects the module to the battery when the battery is
discharged. When the 73W module in this example is connected
directly to a battery charging at 12 volts its power production is
artifcially limited to about 33 watts. Tis wastes a whopping 22
watts or nearly 30 of the available power!
Patented MPPT technology used in SLI's controllers
operates in a very diferent fashion. Te MPPT controller
continually calculates the module's maximum power voltage, in
this case 17 volts. It then operates the module at its maximum
power voltage to extract maximum power. Te higher power
extracted from the module is then provided to the battery in the
form of increased charge current. In conditions where extra PV
power is not available, MPPT controllers will operate as a
conventional controller with very low voltage drop.
How Do Our Controllers
Increase Charge Current:
Te actual charge current increase you will see varies primarily
with module temperature and battery voltage. In comfortable
temperatures, current increase typically varies between 10 to
23, with 30 or more easily achieved with a discharged
battery and cooler temperatures. What you can be sure of is
that our MPPT charge controllers will deliver the highest
charge current possible for a given set of operating conditions.
