Which of the schools is the best?


There is no single right way to think about strategy
All of the different schools can help us to look at strategy in a different way and bring new insights

Some organisations and industries are better suited to different schools


e.g. a large, complex organisation like the NHS with a lot of government policy to implement might favour a strong deliberate, planning approach. A company in a faster moving market like YouTube or Facebook might prefer a more emergent approach.

Some perspectives may be more appropriate but all are valid and can add something

Tries to reconcile all the other schools Some schools are more valid at different stages of an organisations development e.g. start ups might require visionaries (Entrepreneurial school) and large, mature companies might need formal planning (Planning School) All part of the process of change
