HE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH of Frankford was founded May 4, 1770. The first building cost

$2,400 and was used in 1777 to house Hessian prisoners taken during the Revolutionary War. The old building was replaced in 1810; here a Sunday School was organized in 1815. The present church edifice

which was dedicated early in 1860, has been improved and redecorated on several occasions. With the exception of the Friends' Meeting House on Unity Street no other institution in Frankford has continued for so many years in the, same place.

Since 1849, a period of ninety-six years, there have been only two pastorates. The spiritual growth and the history of this church, from 1895 to the present, have reflected the sincere and earnest endeavor of John Baker Laird. For fifty years his unselfish service has influenced and enriched the lives of thousands of people in this and other communities.
