Bluetooth Bee es una placa de interfaz de insercin (DIP) compatible con los sockets Xbee (distancia entre TM pines 2.0 mm), que alberga a un nico chip Bluetooth BlueCore 4-External BC417143, que opera en la banda ISM (Industrial, Scientific and Medical) a los 2400 - 2480MHz Este dispositivo se clasifica segn su ancho de banda como Bluetooth Versin 2.0 + EDR. La especificacin se publica como "Bluetooth v2.0 + EDR", lo que implica que EDR es una caracterstica opcional, la tasa nominal de EDR es de 3 Mbit / s, aunque la tasa de transferencia de datos prctica es de 2,1 Mbit / s.
