An elevator pitch is a brief statement about one's research that can be shared orally in professional contexts like conferences or with potential employers. The document provides tips on crafting an elevator pitch, including focusing on the research topic and question, why it is important, and how it contributes to the field. It should be concise, avoid jargon, and use action verbs to engage the listener. Practicing the pitch is important. The document then describes how these skills can be applied when networking at a cocktail party, with the goal of creating a positive impression and starting further conversations.
