Tell me about urself My name is Natarajan. My native is kumbakonam. I did my schooling at Town Higher Secondary School.

After my 12th I got an opportunity to do my engineering at Sastra, thanjavur. Even my parents wanted me to join there as I could be nearby home. But I thought I should come out of my comfort zone and should get more exposure and keeping that in mind I joined Sairam engineering College Chennai. During my college days I had organized a lot of events and that helped me develop my management skills. Towards the end of my engineering I got placed at Infosys. I underwent training in Mysore. After my training I was allocated to a project at Pune. Generally people from Tamilnadu would not prefer going to a place as far as Pune but I was flexible enough to go to Pune keeping in mind the interests of the company. In Pune my role was primarily that of a Technology Consultant. As part of my job I had to do a feasibility study on the business requirement and if were feasible I had to implement it. I was a Subject matter expert in SAP and hence I had conducted numerous video training. I represented my Business Unit at these sessions. Apart from this I also did Knowledge transfer to employees who were new to our project. I had to make them understand the project processes and coding standards. Then in 2010 I was offered an admission at IFMR and I was very happy and excited to join.

Why MBA I have always been keen to understand any business model and the nuances of its working. My technical degree and my work experience gave me a ground level perspective of how things work. I wanted to know how the organization was working from a birds eye view by understanding the various arms of it like Finance and marketing. When I joined in Pune the initial impression about my manager was not very good. I thought his job was a cakewalk and that he got all the credits for what people working under him had worked hard for. But as time went on I slowly began to understand the kind of complexity and pressure he faced from his job. He had huge responsibilities on his shoulder and was involved in all the phases of the business cycle from interacting with the clients to making sure the service was delivered by people working under him. At that point I understood that to work across the entire business cycle or to even understand it, a formal management education would be extremely helpful and that desire led me to aspire for a MBA degree.

What are your weaknesses?

I often tend to put the interests of my team in front of my own. For instance if I was assigned a particular work and if I had to help out somebody else for the betterment of the team as a whole I would do that. Some of my friends point out that as my weakness but I am not sure of that, because I believe that winning as a team is more important than winning as individual. Basics of CF, Finance
