A BRAND new Learning Pembrokeshire website has been launched with full details of courses, the latest news, new and enhanced search facilities, information for learners and course lists that can be easily downloaded and printed. Learning Pembrokeshire is the adult and community learning service of Pembrokeshire County Council and one of the largest direct deliverers in Wales, providing skills for employment and enjoyment at around 80 locations across the county. Why not visit Pembroke Dock Community Learning Centre which will be holding an open week from Monday, September 10th? The Adult Community Learning programme offers a wide range of learning opportunities and activities for adults. This is provided through seven full-time Community Learning Centres and at a number of part-time community venues, schools and village halls around the county. There are also eight ICT and two E-Learning centres, offering a broad range of Information and Communication Technology activities, a Business Unit offering small and medium-sized businesses courses suited to their needs, and a Mobile Outreach Unit with ten laptops visiting remote rural communities. In recent years there has been considerable upgrading of facilities through new shared building projects with schools. This year, the service holds the Basic Skills Quality Standard recognising Learning Pembrokeshires high quality support and provision. The service includes: A wide range of courses which encourage more people to realise that non-vocational learning opportunities are often the first step towards a new career, further or higher education. Delivery of basic English and mathematics, computing courses and a number of certificated programmes such as GCSEs.The service is now able to offer businesses training for employees in essential skills such as English, mathematics and ICT under the Regional Essential Skills programme. A comprehensive Welsh for Adults programme covering all levels and available across the county. Quality assured provision for English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
