Richard, Ben Preston called me yesterday re. his "Ben & Burgess" summer trips into Dist. 2 to improve communications with our citizens 'cause his predecessor didn't do a good job in this area he told me. Doesn't that sound just like the conversations that you and I had after you took office here in Dist. 3. You recognized that Dist. 3 is more than just The Village, and asked me about ways to improve our message to ALL of Dist. 3 voters. Ben took Burgess and our Public Information Officer, Rebecca Medina to document some of those meetings for future printed publications about this subject, I'm sure. However, when I told him about some of my rather "nutty" ideas to improve our ways to communicate within the district, he said he agreed with me 100%. That's a deffinite change from the "don't bother me" response I'd gotten from both Burgess AND our P.I.O. lady on my prior discussions in this area. Remember, I talked about "The Iron Triangle" closing out our MOST important element here in D.B., our voting citizens, along with their voluteering for open jobs with ALL their talents for FREE? It still holds true today, we desperately need all those D.B. citizens to step forward to volunteer if we're going to make this a better place to live, to retire in, and raise our children in a loving, caring, a safe, nurturing environment. I strongly suggest we hire a seasoned

P.I.O., ditch the kid who isn't cutting the mustard in our communications needs, and start a roundtable discussion on this subject with those interested parties looking for real progress in D. B. I'd mentioned some things to Ben who said he's ALL for improving our communications program to get many more constructive citizens involved in our City agends. Things like: Yard signs, and window signs in local businesses 2 days B/4 Dist. meetings. Ask for the Goodyear blimp folks to run night time announcements, or a bi-winged plane to fly a banner behind it. Print bulletins for all HOA's, condo's, churches, and large rental properties to tell them about special meetings, etc. Try USPS 17 cent mailing program to contact all D.B. registered voters, or work off lists from recycle REWARDS new target marketing programs. Start up an e-mailing list like BSO's cyber-notification program, and sign-up "block captains" for each neighborhood. Might even try to contact the High School Civic's class, and invite them to a Commission Meeting, and then ask the teacher to have the students write a paper on their experience, or ask them, for extra credit, to hand out flyers in front of publix the week-end before a District meeting. It could help the "tone & character" of our meetings. These are a few of my suggestions to be explored, and I'll bet we can find a lot more "nutty" ideas if we ask our people???? Luv always, Fred & Nancy Foreman (954) 295-5080, 1752 SW 19th Ave., D.B., FL 33442-6135. P.S. We've got Ohio family visiting this week, but I'm still hoping to make this Monday's Le CLub noon meeting, and speak to you and Ben, if ever so briefly. Have a God filled week my friends.

Yes, it was unanimous because we didn't do a good job of screening, and it was at the very end of a very long meeting (intentionally?). Did you know the relationship before voting? To be fair and above board with all, shouldn't that relationship have been disclosed upfront to ALL? I sincerely hope that NO business is done during this interim period 'cause we'll be the laughing stock of this community if they do. I really object to the way this board was staffed in the past, and the way it's conducted OUR business. It has given the appearance of dirty pool, and has cost the tax payers a lot of money too. This is not the openness and transparency in government that the public is looking for these days. Luv, Fred und Nancy Foreman

Richard, I have something very important we must discuss now. I need you to back my efforts to FIRE City Mgr. Hanson NOW. He's an impediment to our bringing this City back together to work constructively as a family should. I've concluded that NOTHING great will happen as long as he's our City Mgr. because he, and the other disruptive/dissolutioned member on the diaz, don't have the support of our citizens. Both of these "problem CHILDREN" are perceived as obnoxious "smart alacks", and one must be FIRED while we find a way to "muzzle" the other, so the healing can begin. They are working in concert to destroy our town, and as YOU SAID make us the laughing stock in the media as well as financial evaluation boards. It's widely known that they're no longer respected nor trusted in this community, so the time is NOW to do the right thing for our City. If you want to leave a legacy in this town, the ball's in your court......your VOTE counts very much, and I'm asking you to support this movement. I'll be at our Democratic meeting in the Le Club on Monday the 12th, but available to discuss this with you anytime next week. Yours In His Service always, Fred Foreman (954) 295-5080. P.S. He also said that you can, with city approval, get about 4 cremation urns into one full sized plot. This information must be included in the figures Burgess gives to the full Commission 'cause it affects that 35% figure of available grave sights? Steve also said the City needs to lift the restriction about head stones like the one Dr. Robb has on his grave? Steve also said there are loads of little and BIG costs associated with putting down someone to their final rest? Just a few thoughts on a bright, hot Friday afternoon. Stay inside today! I told her it was being studied by Broward County and the City right now. For future discussions with interested parties, did you ever get a count on the number of BSO tickets issued, accidents, and those with injuries along this part of Mil. Tr.? It would also be of help if we knew how many people used the "old" crosswalk 40 yards South of Hillsboro Blvd. on Mil. Tr., and the number of accidents along that section of roadway. I'd like to be in a position to show that last year we authorized that misplaced crosswalk, and FOUR expensive traffic lights w/o having any pedestrian usage figures to justify a million dollar widening project, etc. Sincerely, Fred

There must be something we can do to get more folks attending these important informational meetings. The ONLY time I see "The Hall" packed is when some group has a grievance against something our City is doing, considering doing, or we've finished goofing up a project? There's a lot of fine people out there waiting to be invited into our City doings, but they don't want to be ridiculed in public. From: fastfreddy1752@aol.com To: JeanM.Robb CC: RichardRosenzweig Date: 5/15/2013 8:36:37 AM Subject: Your citizens speak, and our city government doesn't hear too well?

Dear Mayor, I've attended most of the City Council meetings, and a few of the District Commissioner quarterly town hall meetings since last year's fight to make our City government more responsive to the people of Deerfield Beach. All I hear from the City employees is how wonderful everything is going, and from the citizens, how complaints many years old are being ignored or just beginning some course of corrective action. Where have these City employees been working over the past 10 years? Certainly not doing their jobs very well 'cause we're hearing some heavy old complaints that were never addressed before you were elected. Did the prior Mayor and Commissioners NOT do their jobs, or is it your old management team that's getting ALL these failing grades? Every time I ask for information, voice a complaint, or make a suggestion, I don't hear the communications door open up.....no reply, NO action, and the door closes? On one rather sore issue we've been working on for over 4 years now, is the traffic light on SW 15th St., and crosswalk here on Military Trail between the Catholic Church and The Meadows. After you publicly asked on March 26th for the City Mgr., BSO Police Chief, and City Eng. to get on top of this traffic problem, I get handed a copy of a letter dated April 15th (3 weeks later) saying the City is asking Brwd.
County Traffic Dept. to conduct several more studies. What with ALL the prior studies, reports, and meetings over the past 4 years, it's time for true action, and not more delaying tactics which have gone under the carpet in the past. All this, while we reworked, late last year, the crosswalk on Military Trail just 35 yards South of Hillsboro Blvd., with 4 new traffic lights (replacing the 6 prior traffic lights). And all W/O any clear justifications 'cause they ain't being used now, and weren't being used previously for many years. Better yet, the crosswalk AND traffic lights, should have probably been erected 20 yards futther South, where you have two intersecting mall driveways, and the lights/crosswalk are truly needed. Now please don't tell me that's my tax dollar being used wisely. Also, it now appears the FEMA Flood Ins. fiasco is finally being corrected after 5 years of work. Think how much Flood insurance premiums our citizen's paid out needlessly over 5 years (in the millions), while we corrected that error? Obviously, my frustration level is VERY high, and I go to my H.O.A.'s and fellow VOTERS in this area empty handed. Let me tell you, that doesn't make for happy campers out here. You've got some major problems to fix, and we ALL wish you well. Just ask our new District 3 Commissioner, Richard Rosanzweig now that he's been out and about in our area, and attending City Council meetings. Sincerely, Fred und Nancy Foreman, 1752 SW 19th Ave., D.B., FL 33442-6135.

Mayor Robb, In a phone conversation earlier this evening with Commissioner Rosenzweig, he mentioned the GRAND opening later this month (May 23?) of our local Wal-Mart Grocery Store here on Military Trail at SW 10th Stree. If our P.I.O. Public Information Officer, Rebbeca Medina could get them to give us a table inside the store, we could use it to hand out some City literature, meet some residents, pass out business cards, or even sign up folks that want to get more information from time-to-time about things like our new recycling REWARDS program, the pier project, or meet our new Mayor, and Dist. 3 Commissioner, etc. If we can't get a table inside, maybe they'd OK a marked truck or van outside with our people handing out literature/cards, and just talking to the shoppers, etc.? Just a thought toward opening up our lines of communications
with the tax paying citizens. Sincerely, Fred und Nancy Foreman, 1752 SW 19th Ave., Drfld. Bch., FL 33442, (954) 295-5080. P.S. I'm still interested in improving our attendance at City Council meetings, and quarterly Dist. Commissioner town hall meetings. If handled properly, we could get many good volunteers with usable talents, and it's ALL FREE. It also means a better, more open government when you have FULL public participation.
