The seven core values with an acronym of SPIRITT are identified traits that build the heart and character of a Technologian.

All curricular programs offered in the university, including curricular and co-curricular activities, are designed for Technologians to imbibe the character of being values driven, highly competent, and innovative. The trait of values driven is of primary importance. This is to emphasize that the worth of a person is over and above knowledge and skills. While the academic institution may put premium on academic performance, the exposure of students ultimately lead them to become better persons, recognizing the dignity of every human being as they take leadership and involvement in running a corporation or mobilizing a social institution or even in acting on responsibilities as a participant in a community they serve. Highly competent is one attribute that any institution of learning would like their graduates to become. With this, the university sees to it that the outcome of its learning activities would produce graduates who are entrepreneurial in spirit, industry-preferred, and life-ready. The trait of being Innovative is posed as a challenge to every Technologian. With the fast growing society, the need for novel ways to improve peoples lives is inevitable. Thus, research is made essential in all curricular programs to develop students ability to use scientific solutions and find the right resources in their attempt to answer questions and problems that may arise in various social settings or in ones daily life.

The Vision-Mission, Goals and Objectives (VMGO) of the university define the ideals and aspirations of all stakeholders as a collective entity. These help the institution appreciate its reason for being at the same time set directions for current undertakings and future endeavors. Vision embodies the aspiration of the institution culled from the wishes expressed by its various stakeholders. The vision statement manifests the institutions concerted effort to respond actively or proactively to local, national and global developments. The slogan CIT Tops Again speaks of the notable achievements of the university, its students and alumni through the years. Thus, the dream of becoming a top academic institution is not impossible to achieve. The achievements of the University include, among others, the following: Deregulated institution 1st IQUAME category A(t) institution in the Visayas and Mindanao Center of Excellence in Information Technology Education 2-time Cebu City Outstanding Institution awardee PACUCOA awardee as the institution with the highest number of accredited programs in Region 7 (2009, 2011, 2012) PACUCOA awardee as the institution with the 4 th highest number of accredited programs in the country (2011, 2012) The outstanding record in board examinations (above national passing percentage and board topnotchers), the awards garnered by students, faculty, and alumni, and the high percentage of employment of CIT graduates are specific indicators of the capability of the university to deliver quality education. With its desire to cope with current global challenges, the university can definitely boost CITs reputation as a premier institution of learning.

CIT was founded in 1946, after World War II, with the intention of helping the country rise from the ruins of war. Thus, the institution opened degree programs that would produce able engineers and other professionals who could serve to rebuild the nation. With this background, CIT has identified the universitys three-fold functions: Instruction, Research and Community Extension. In these three areas, the institution prepares Technologians to become professionals imbued with character and equipped with the knowledge and skills to respond to the needs and demands of the times, for the welfare of the immediate community, the country, and the world.

2. Develop instructional, research, and community extension programs attuned to the Filipino culture, national goals, and global competitiveness with optimum utilization of existing resources, harnessing community involvement and goodwill in their implementation; and
The second goal stipulates the ceaseless efforts to improve areas in instruction, research, and community extension. Such improvement is worked out with the intention of using existing resources and encouraging community involvement to respond to local, national, and global demands.

3. Provide opportunities for CITs academic community to improve the institution and collaborate with local, national, and global networks.
The third goal expresses the hope of strengthening networking and linkages as a means to contribute significantly and synergize with other institutions and agencies that are participating in the dynamic life of society.

GOALS
As a private, non-sectarian academic institution, Cebu Institute of Technology University aims to: 1. Provide basic (early childhood, elementary, high school), vocational, higher, and non-conventional or alternative education for the total development of individual students in an environment conducive to teaching and learning;
The first goal describes the nature of CIT as an institution serving basic and higher education programs. As such, it aims to provide quality education in an environment conducive to learning. While this may have been attained, the efforts to work for improvement never stop with the changing needs and demands of a dynamic society.

Mission is the reason for being of the education institution and, in many instances, may have originated from the people and/or organization that founded the institution. The mission statement expresses in broad terms the role, functions and services that the institution is committed to perform given its background, cultural legacy and capability. STATEMENT OF CORE COMPETENCY


Science & Technology is a way of academic life among administrators, faculty, and students. In the design, administration, and implementation of curricular programs, technology is embedded, articulated, and actuated.
CIT University started as an engineering institution but has diversified by offering other programs in answer to the changing demands of society. The academic tradition anchored on science and technology as initiated by the engineering programs has pervaded in all curricular offerings of the university.

MISSION
To ensure quality instruction, research, and community extension for the total development of Technologians committed in practicing professionalism and in meeting the demands of local, national, and global communities
