The Problem Started With Rain!

It started with the heavy rains that came in on the rst week of November, 2013!
This heavy rain would be the start for what would lead to the rst full shutdown that I have seen in my sixteen years of kayaking & working in Laguna Grande! The ooding and strong rains washed large amounts of soil/dirt into the gutters and drains in and around Las Croabas. This runoff drained into the harbor now clouded with suspended particles which if left in the harbor would have been no problem. Full Moon Cycle started on November 10th Sunday The First Night that the Bioluminescence was a no show! The half full moon forward bring very strong tides and along with these tides came the clouded water full of the foreign soil/dirt that would for the next eight days and night cloud the waters of Laguna Grande. Forcing the lagoon waters to drop in temperature, due to the larger amounts of tidal water along with the clouded conditions sunlight was blocked an unable to warm the waters as well as stopping the plankton from producing photosynthesis and shutting down its ability to create chemicals that lead to making Bioluminescence when agitated! Eight Days Later Improvement Starts and the moon cycle has run its course. The tides are now much smaller and the low tide movements have aided in moving much of the sediments out of the lagoon. As I saw rst hand on 11-18-13 Monday night waters had started to clear in the back areas of the lagoon and in these areas we started to see small pockets of Bioluminescence!

Todays threat of more ra in could lead to another cy cle of the same for Laguna Grande! As Dirt & Soil are still exposed in the area!
Construction Areas Must Be Cleaned and all Dirt & Soil Stored or Covered & Streets Cleaned! Will todays threat of rain be the start of another No Show?
