From the Principal

Fantastic Fremantle Festival Once again the small school with BIG ideas was a stand out in the Fremantle festival parade. Thank you Margie Campbell for the endless hours and boundless energy that you put into this project each year. A big thank you also needs to go out to Jane Barwell and her husband, Phillippa Hannay a local volunteer, and the team of parents who worked tirelessly day in, day out, to see this amazing project to fruition. Well done Mums, Dads, grandparents, children and staff for all showing up in the heat, dressing up in your amazing costumes and walking to the beat of our djemba drummers. Your commitment is to be commended well done!

Year 4 to 7 camp This year we enjoyed a wonderful camp to Busselton. Bev and Len owners of the family run company All Aboard Coach Tours did a fantastic job of looking after us and when Mrs Baldey wrote to them to say thank you, their response was this: We too enjoyed the camp as they were a terrific bunch of well mannered children and under great supervision from the teachers. North Fremantle Primary is a little golden gem hidden away in the backstreets of North Freo! We love a compliment here at North Fremantle well done students and staff. Cross Country On another positive note I would like to congratulate our interschool cross country team who were successful yesterday in bringing back the Handicap Trophy. Excellent work everyone!

We have had a really busy 2 weeks in Kindy! A lot of our time has been spent rehearsing our dance and words for the assembly. We hope you enjoyed our item (apart from the technical difficulty). Thank you to everyone for your patience. Im sure youd agree it was worth it! We were so proud of the children. They showed us that they are almost ready for Pre-primary. We also made some fantastic pictures using our gingerbread men. Thanks to Mrs Slattery for making the gingerbread for us. After we read the story we made and decorated our men. Once they were ready we made a background on the iPad and let our gingerbread man run, run as fast as he could across the page. Have a look at some our fantastic landscapes.

Room 2 - Liz Smith

In class the Pre-primaries continue to be bamboozled by distinguishing work from play. We used our map reading skills and followed the clues to discover our very own dragon; a magnificent papier mache creature made by Mrs Slattery and her family. He is currently residing in our class behind the castle walls if youd like to come and have a peek. To celebrate the end of our Fairy Tales theme and bid farewell to the wonderful Mrs Slattery, our class is having a dress-up party on Friday. We wrote invitations and self-addressed an envelope, Miss Lizzie mixed up the invitations so we wouldnt know who we had sent ours too and we posted them at the post box on Harvest Road. Along the way to the post box we noticed many signs and symbols, these helped inspire us to design and make shields. To take us to the end of the year Kindy and Pre-primary will be working together on the theme Festivals and Celebrations, if you have any old decorations at home that you should have ditched last year (or just dont love any more) please will you pass them our way so we can add festive sparkle to our early childhood area. Thank You

Room 3 - Bev Lane

Every Monday we write about our weekend (Ms. Lanes is always very boring). This week we focussed on the correct placement of full stops and capitals. We are beginning to understand the concept and how it makes our writing easier to understand. Abbey has written a fantastic recount, not only using punctuation correctly, but also evoking lovely images of her trip to the beach.

On the week-end I went to the beach to test my new surfboard. I surfed on lots and lots of waves. My dad threw me up and caught me. I built a huge sandcastle. My mum dug a tunnel under the sandcastle. I swam very, very deep out. There was a big wave, but I jumped over it. When I got out again I did a handstand and cartwheels.

Room 4 - Rochelle Reeves

Room 4 have been researching Australian animals this term. We have created some informative and interesting projects. Please pop in to have a look when you get a chance. We have also started a stinky science experiment. We have taken some old socks, walked through the garden, sealed them in plastic bags and we are going to observe what grows. Tune in for an update next newsletter.

Rooms 5 & 7
On the 13th on November everyone in Year4-7 arrived at school for an out of the ordinary day. We were leaving for our end of year camp at Geographe Bay in Busselton. We got to school at about 8am, packed the bus and hit the road at 9. We were headed for the Baptist Campsite for 2 nights with Mrs Parkes, Mr. Snook, Mr. John, Mrs. Baldey and Mrs. Kelly. After 3 hours in the bus we arrived at Australind to have recess. There was a park for us to play in but we had to hit the road after everyone had their recess. We finally arrived at our camp and were all excited to get out of the icy cold bus to get fresh air. We got our own luggage, were shown to our rooms and began sorting out who would sleep where. When we all unpacked we did some rock climbing called RADROCK. Our instructor explained how and what we where supposed to do. Then we were split into 3 groups. One was on the rock climbing, one group was on a puzzle path and one the other was on a game called Capsize. The people who were on the climbing wall where trying to touch a button up the top of the wall using the footholds dotted along the 6m wall. The people who were on the puzzle path were trying to figure out which piece to stand on to find the path through to the end. The people doing Capsize had to stand on the tarp as a group while turning it completely over. Next we went to the beach to swim, make sand castles and to play touch rugby before heading to the showers. After dinner we had a newspaper fashion show. The models chosen were Joe, Sean, Sarah, Azi and C-Jay. The winning model was Sarah her group members were Alicia, Zahlia, Pearson, Matty and Lini. They were awarded victory after an impressive show. We then had a limbo contest that Sarah also won. After we played night games we went to our dorms and went to sleep at about 9pm. The few that decided to try and stay up until past midnight would regret their chattiness very soon as we had a full day ahead of us. Thursday morning we had to go and put on our longest pants and shorts so we didnt get too scratched up in the caves. When we got there our guide called Andre took us around to put our helmets and headlights on and lead us underground in three different groups. We all had a go at a practise tunnel (Mr. John hit his head for the first of many times that day). We saw some awesome crystals, some of which took tens of thousands of years to form, before heading 49 metres underground to a pitch-black cave to tell us a local dreamtime story. Then we crawled and climbed back out into the sunshine. Lunch was at the campsite and then we jumped back on the bus to the X-Scape Fun Park. At first we all had a go at the mining maze before heading our separate ways to the trampolines, mini-golf and jungle mountain. The highlight for us all was watching people get squirted in the face as they tried to retrieve their ball from the mini-golf hole. After the X-Scape fun park we went to the beach for a cool off. We all played catch in the water but when we werent concentrating our precious beach ball floated out to sea. We also played tag and touch rugby before heading back for showers and dinner. After dinner we had a quiz on six different topics in our groups from the night before. Romany, C-Jay, Sam S, Amalie, Logan and Phoebe ended up winning the night by two points and were promptly rewarded with chocolate. We then went to bed and most of us were asleep before we hit the pillow. On the last day we had to start packing up and cleaning out our dorms. Once that was out of the way we had breakfast and packed our luggage onto the bus. After farewelling our awesome campsite we drove to Busselton Jetty to take the 4km round trip to the end and back. We talked, saw stingrays and watched Mrs Baldeys hat drift out to sea after being blown off by the strong winds. We then got back on the bus and headed for Australind for a lunch of hotdogs and cordial. Back on the bus, the teachers put a movie on for us called The Game Plan. We were almost at North Fremantle by the time the movie ended. When we got to school it was about 2.30pm, so after we got our luggage into the classroom, Mr. John let us have free time for about half an hour (most of us lay down for a rest). That was our Busselton School Camp!

This year North Fremantle primary choir was one of eight schools across the state selected to be part of the channel nine Christmas carols. We were given the well known song Silent Night to sing and are all very excited as they came today to film it. We also were able to wear our brand new choir t- shirts generously organised and funded by our P and C. All the students loved them so thank you very much from us all..

An enormous thank you to all the parents and students who came along to build the float for the parade. There were more than ten working days, and many of you worked additionally at home. Your commitment, building skills, dedication and energy were amazing. I think we all agree that the outcome was stunning. Now that all the recycled materials have been packed away and we can see the floor and desks again we have enjoyed the calm atmosphere of drawing wildflowers. The children have had a choice of materials to use and have created three separate drawings. I am always amazed at what our wonderful creative students produce, I am sure you are too.

Can you help us collect 200 old Mobile phones to recycle ???

If you have any old mobile phones lying around at home we would love to take them off your hands. Not only will it make your cupboards cleaner it will help raise money for the school. Please drop them in the box located in the office ASAP.
