Environmental All pesticides have adverse environmental impacts because they can kill
beneficial insects, which throws off the balance of the ecosystem. For
Impact
example, if this product happened to kill mosquito eaters as well, there
would be a boom in the mosquito population, which is detrimental to human
health. Any chemical that kills certain members of an ecological community
can have unseen consequences for the community as a whole. (APES
class)
Many pesticides are also toxic to aquatic organisms, including fish, so if the
chemical seeps into the watershed, the ecological balance can be thrown off
as well. (APES class)
Isobutane is flammable.
Pesticides are bioaccumulative—they concentrate more and more as you go
up the trophic levels, they accumulate in silt and keep being transferred from
organism to organism until they reach incredibly toxic levels high up in the
food chain (Akers).
