SCHOOL CAMPUS/A CLASSROOM - AFTERNOON A class room full of KIDS, not paying attention as the MS. MILLER talks, TIMMY is sitting at a desk. The school bell RINGS. The other kids stand up and gather their things, heading for the door. CUT TO: MS. MILLER (loudly) Okay, remember everyone, your research papers are due on Friday, so dont forget them. They need to be in MLA format and on my desk before the end of the day. Timmy sits, a dull look in his eyes as the class files out around him. MS. MILLER Timmy, are you with us here? TIMMY Huh? Oh. Yeah. Sorry Ms. Miller, Im just tired, all this studying for the finals and stuff. Timmy gives a sheepish smile. MS. MILLER Okay. Hows your paper coming along? Timmy stands up and begins to gather his things, stuffing a few BOOKS into his BACKPACK. TIMMY Oh - Its coming. Timmy heads toward the door. Ms. Miller lightly touches his arm. (CONTINUED)

MS. MILLER Timmy, this paper is really important for your final grade. Dont be discouraged about your current grade. If you do well on this paper, turn in the homework assignments for the rest of this week and do well on the final next week; you can still get a C minus in the class. Timmy looks away MS. MILLER Dont give up. Timmy nods and walks toward the door. He opens it and walks out. Ms. Miller stands there for a second. She closes her eyes, shakes her head and walks toward her desk. EXT. SCHOOL CAMPUS - MOMENTS LATER Timmy is walking across campus slowly. He is surround by the indistinct CHATTER of students talking and laughing in the halls. There are groups of kids sitting and standing. Timmy walks to the corner of a building and sits. He pulls a novel from his backpack and begins to read to himself. After a spell, Timmy looks up from his book to see a group of KIDS standing around some benches. ALENA and DUSTIN are in this group. The group consists of about six other boys and girls laughing. Alena says something to Dustin, And he shoves her. He chuckles to himself. Alena hits him twice on the chest, yelling at him with an uneasy laugh. Timmy squints his eyes angrily and starts to breath hard. TIMMY (V.O) Motherfucker, do it again! Timmy twitches slightly. ALEX Hey, Timmy! Shit, man; sorry Im late. I got caught up in Mrs. Brownings class. If you ever have a chance to take chemistry with (MORE) (CONTINUED)

ALEX (contd) her, pass it up, it is so not worth all the - Dude, whats wrong? Timmy, still looking at the group angrily, snaps out of it and looks up at Alex. TIMMY Huh?! Oh, nothing, just deep in thought again. You know me, always daydreamin. Anyway, what were you sayin about Mrs. Browning? Timmy gets up and him and Alex begin to walk. ALEX I swear, if I didnt stay behind and help her clean up, I dont know what shed do. Shes so sweet, but I think its time for her to retire. TIMMY Yeah, I hear shes getting a bit senile in her old age. Rumor has it she has early onset dementia or something like that. ALEX Yeah? That sucks. I wonder what its like to slip away like that. TIMMY I dont know, ask mom. ALEX Dont say that, Tim. Shes doing the best she can. Timmy kicks a rock and stares at the ground. TIMMY I guess. Timmy and Alex continue to walk in silence FADE TO:

EXT. SWANSON HOME - 30 MINUTES LATER Timmy and Alex arrive at home. They walk up to the door. Timmy stands with his eyes closed, breathing in the air while Alex reaches into his pocket for his KEYS. Alex pulls his KEYS out of his pocket and begins to look for the right key. ALEX I hope Moms doin okay today. TIMMY (Quietly) Yeah. Alex finds the key and puts it into the lock. He opens it and enters. Timmy takes a deep breath and follows They walk into a dim living room. There is a layer of SMOKE hanging in the air. Two the left, on the COUCH, sits DEBRA. ALEX Hey mom, were home! How was your day today? Debra Swanson is sitting on the couch, staring at the blank TV screen. She has a CIGARETTE burning away in her hand. She looks up at Alex and Timmy. DEBRA Oh, you know . . . TIMMY Hi Mom. Debra grunts a reply. ALEX What would you like me to make for dinner tonight? DEBRA I dont care. Just throw something together. Timmy continues walking to his room. Alex and Debra continue their conversation.

INT.

SWANSON HOME/TIMMYS BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS

Timmy opens the door to his bedroom and walks in. He steps over CLOTHES and BOOKS that litter the floor. He walks over to his BED cluttered on one side with CLOTHES and flops down onto it. He lays there staring at the ceiling. FADE TO: FLASHBACK EXT. OUTSIDE THE SWANSON HOUSE - SIX YEARS EARLIER Alex and Timmy are outside, sitting on the sidewalk with some CHALK. They are playing Tic-tac-toe. Alex draws an "X" in one of the squares. ALEX Thats three in a row, I win Timmy looks up at Alex, smiling. TIMMY How do you always win? ALEX I play it at school with C.J. almost everyday. Im almost an expert. TIMMY Practice makes perfect. DEBRA (O.C.) Alex! Timmy! Its almost time to come in boys. Dinner will be ready soon. TIMMY Okay, mom. ALEX Well just be a few more minutes. TIMMY Wanna play one more time?

CONTINUED: ALEX Yeah. BLAKE Hey! Whatcha guys playin?

Timmy looks away, paying close attention to a drawing that was put on the ground earlier. ALEX Tic-tac-toe. Do you want to play a game with one of us? BLAKE Tic-tac-toes a stupid game. Lets play tag. ALEX Okay, you be it. Alex and Blake start to run around as Timmy sits there for a moment. He stands up just as Blake shoves him. BLAKE Youre it!!! Timmy falls on the ground. Alex comes and helps him up. ALEX (O.C.) (Faintly) Timmy! END FLASHBACK DISSOLVE TO: INT. SWANSON HOME/TIMMYS ROOM - PRESENT DAY Alex is standing over Timmy whos eyes are closed. ALEX Timmy! POV: TIMMY OPENS HIS EYES TO SEE ALEX LEERING ABOVE HIM. TIMMY Yeah? ALEX Would you be willing to grab the food stamp card and run down to the store and grab some milk, some eggs and some hamburger meat? (CONTINUED)

Timmy lets out a heavy sigh as he gets out of bed. TIMMY Yeah, I can do that. ALEX Thank you. Timmy starts to walk out of the room into the hallway. INT. SWANSON HOME - CONTINUOUS Timmy walks through the house into the kitchen, he glances over at his mom briefly. Debra is sitting in the same spot on the couch, another CIGARETTE lit in her hand. Theres an ASHTRAY sitting next to her stuffed with CIGARETTE BUTTS. Timmy walks into the kitchen and picks up a set of KEYS off of a hook on the wall. Underneath the key hook are BOTTLES OF PILLS. next to the pills is a PLASTIC CARD, he picks it up and walks toward the door. TIMMY Mom. Debra sits quietly, not saying a word. She takes a slow drag off of her cigarette. TIMMY Mom, Im going to run to the store and grab some groceries. Is there anything that you need? Debra turns slightly. DEBRA Cigarettes. TIMMY Mom, I cant get cigarettes with food stamps, you know this. Im not of age either. DEBRA I KNOW! JUST GO! Timmy sighs as he opens the door and leaves. As the door closes, Debra closes her eyes and sighs.

DEBRA Why me? A tear rolls down Debras cheek as she takes another drag off of her cigarette and stares of She stares deeply at her faint reflection in the black television screen CROSSFADE TO: EXT. CITY STREETS - 30 MINUTES LATER Timmy is walking down the sidewalk carrying a GROCERY BAG in each hand. Hes HUMMING a slow song. He comes to a GATE leading into a big FIELD with a trail weaving through the center of it. On the other side of the field is a main street. He slumps into a HOLE in the gate and begins to walk through the field. Timmy is walking through the field when we hear a RUSTLE in the bushes. He stops for a moment, looking for the sound. Out of the pushes prances a TINY DOG. The dog is wagging its tail until it sees Timmy. It immediately begins snarling and barking. Timmy starts to walk faster away looking annoyed. The dog pounces and BITES Timmys ankle and grabs on. Timmy attempts to shake him off. TIMMY (yelling) GET OFF OF ME YOU LITTLE FUCKER!!!! He shakes the dog off, it immediately charges him to bite him again. Timmy kicks the dog with a swift THUD. The dog YELPS. Timmy drops his GROCERIES on the ground, spilling MILK all over the dirt. He charges the dog and begins to STOMP it.

Timmy has a grin on his face and is laughing, his eyes filled with a new excitement. The dog YELPS with every stomp. Then, it WHIMPERS and STOPS. Timmy is standing over the dog, PANTING furiously. A grin is on his face. He slowly turns, walks over to the dropped grocery bags, picks them up and turns back toward the field. Timmy continues to walk through the field, the small lump of the dogs body is laying in a bloody heap on the trail. DISSOLVE TO: INT. SWANSON HOME/KITCHEN - NIGHT Timmy, Alex and Debra sit around the dinner table, there are PLATES of food and GLASSES of WATER in front of them. ALEX I cant believe you tripped in the field and dropped the milk. Hows your ankle feeling? Timmy is playing with the fork on his plate. A half smile on his face. TIMMY Its a little better. Debra is sitting at the end of the table, staring at her water glass. Her eyes are blank and glassy. ALEX Thats good. Dont worry about the milk, theres still some left. Well grab some on our way home from school tomorrow. Im sure theres still DEBRA You clumsy little shit, couldnt even get home without fuckin something up! ALEX MOM! It was an accident, he didnt mean to DEBRA He screws up everything! Were in the mess were in because of him! (CONTINUED)

Timmy looks down at his food, a blank look on his face. ALEX MOM! Thats horrible! Be nice! Youre Just TIMMY No, shes right. Im a fuck up. Its all my fault. Can I be excused? ALEX Timmy, thats nonsense, dont say TIMMY (Louder) Can I be excused please?! ALEX Yes. Timmy gets up from the table and heads into the kitchen. He dumps the rest of his food in the trash and puts his dishes in the sink. He begins to walk out of the kitchen, Debra stares at him, Alex has his head hung low. DEBRA And to top it off, he wastes the only food we can probably afford all week! We hear her sigh loudly as Timmy walks back to his room. INT. SWANSON HOME/TIMMYS BEDROOM - LATER THAT NIGHT Timmy is laying in his bed. In the background muffled YELLING and SCREAMING can be heard from the backyard of the next door neighbors. Something CRASHES and someone SCREAMS. Timmys eyes are wide open. His heart is beating quickly and a small smile is on his face. The door OPENS, and Alex walks in. He RUSTLES around as he finds his way in the dim room. He lays on the BED on the other side of the room. The arguing is still going on.

ALEX Hey. Are you awake? Timmy continues staring up at the ceiling. ALEX I know youre up. Im sorry about that fiasco earlier at dinner. you know Moms not well since the accident happened. Shell probably never be the same. You cant take her personally though. You are not worthless. You will get out of here one of these days and live your dreams. A SCREAM comes from the neighbors house. ALEX I believe in you. Another SCREAM followed by a SMASH. TIMMY I wonder what theyre fighting about over there. ALEX What? Shit, Timmy. Im trying to talk to you about something real and all you care about is the violent bullshit that goes on over there?! TIMMY Its interesting. I mean what could possibly such a big deal that is worth fighting ovALEX Nothing! Its stupid that they act like that. Theyre fuckin junkies. They cant just talk out what theyre going through like adults. TIMMY Yeah. I guess. The sound next door is muffled as the boys lay in silence. We hear Alex STIRRING on the couch.

CONTINUED: ALEX Good night, Timmy. A moment of silence. TIMMY Good night, Alex.

FADE TO: EXT. SCHOOL CAMPUS - AFTERNOON Timmy is sitting up against a wall, reading. There is indistinct CHATTER coming from students going about their day. Timmy looks down at his watch, it reads "2:50". Timmy sighs and gets up. He looks around for a moment and begins to walk. Timmy is walking through the back of the school. As he walks through the back lot, he hears a muffled struggle and looks over to see a scene in a CAR. As he walks by, he sees ALENA struggling against DUSTIN. Alena is trying to SCREAM, but Dustin is holding her mouth as he tries to remove her clothes with his free hand. Alena is kicking and trying to hit him. Timmys eyes get hard as he charges toward the car. He drops his BOOK on the ground and opens the car door. Dustin looks up, startled. DUSTIN What the fuck do you think youre doing, Swanson! Mind your own Timmy PUNCHES him in the face. DUSTIN What the fuAnother PUNCH to the face. Timmy grabs Dustin by his shirt and pulls him from the car. Dustin falls to the ground and quickly gets to his feet throwing a punch at Timmy that connects. Alena is quickly grabbing her things. She grabs her BACKPACK and runs away. (CONTINUED)

Dustin charges at Timmy who throws him on the ground. Timmy begins kicking him multiple times. With each kick, his smile is getting bigger and bigger. ALEX (O.C.) HEY!! Alex is standing there looking surprised and angry. Timmy keeps kicking. Faster. Dustins face is bleeding, hes crying and covering his face with his arms. Alex grabs Timmy who tries to break free. ALEX TIMMY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? STOP IT! TIMMY He was fuckin raping her Alex! The fuckin creep was rapin her! Timmy kicks at Dustin as he struggles to get up from the ground. The kick picks up dirt and gets Dustin in the face. Dustin gets to his feet and hobbles away. Timmy tries to break free to run after him, but Alex holds him. ALEX Let him go! Timmy shakes free from Alex and sits on the ground, breathing heavily. TIMMY You shouldve let me have em. I couldve taught him a lesson. ALEX Violence solves nothing. Youre just putting yourself down to his level. Theres a lot of evil in this world Timmy, and you cant combat it by being a part of it. Alex helps Timmy up off the ground and they begin to walk.

CONTINUED: TIMMY How the hell was I suppose to handle that, Alex? Just let it go?! Let him get away with it? ALEX Of course not. There was a lot of shit you couldve done. Obviously stopping him was a good idea and Im proud of you for that, but the beating was overkill. There are other authorities whose job it is to take care of that. TIMMY I guess. I just hate that kid so fucking much. What do sweet girls like Alena see in scumbags like that? Dont they know there are good guys on this planet that would never treat them like that? ALEX I dont know, Timmy. When you live in a world of monsters, some monsters just become a little less scary. TIMMY Yeah. ALEX But, hey; lets forget about all this for now. We can take care of the situation tomorrow. Mom is waiting for us to get home. TIMMY Yeah.

FADE TO: EXT. SWANSON HOME/KITCHEN - THE NEXT MORNING Timmy and Alex are sitting at the kitchen table, eating cereal. Debra is sitting on the couch, cigarette in hand. ALEX So, hows your paper for Ms. Millers class going?

TIMMY Eh. ALEX You really need to get that done. Shes not that tough of a grader, and shes willing to help you pass the class if you just do it. TIMMY I know. ALEX If you need help with it, I can help you. That paper was cake when I did it last year. TIMMY Okay. Alex looks up at the clock. ALEX Oh. Im going to be late. I told Mr. OHara I would walk his dogs for him this morning. Alex rushes into the kitchen and puts his bowl into the sink. He grabs his backpack and walks toward the door. ALEX Ill probably catch up with you on on your way to school. If not, Ill just meet you by the gym like always after school. Timmy nods. Alex walks over to Debra, still sitting on the couch. A BOTTLE of meds sitting on the table. Alex kisses her on the forehead. ALEX Bye, mom. Ill see you after school. Debra gives a half-smile, but says nothing Alex opens the door and leaves. Timmy looks at his mother on the couch and sighs.

DEBRA Such a good boy. Timmy gets up from the table, dumps the cereal in the sink and continues toward the living room. He picks his backpack up and heads toward the door. TIMMY Goodbye, mom. I love you. Debra looks away. Timmy sighs, opens the door and leaves. As the door closes, A tear rolls down her cheek. FADE TO: EXT. STREET - 20 MINUTES LATER Timmy is walking down the sidewalk of a residential neighborhood. The school in view. Down the street a little ways, a GROUP of kids are sitting around a power box. Dustin is with them. As they see Timmy, Dustin looks over at him and says something to the boys. They begin to walk toward Timmy Timmy clutches the straps on his backpack and stands up straight as he walks. The group is walking toward Timmy with Dustin in the lead. Dustins face is badly bruised, and hes walking with a limp. DUSTIN There he is, the fuckin psycho. You think that shit you pulled yesterday was funny dont you? Timmy stares at Dustin warily. DUSTIN Whats wrong with you, you dont talk? TIMMY I think I said all that I needed to yesterday. (CONTINUED)

The other boys disperse and slowly begin cornering Timmy. DUSTIN I dont appreciate what you did to my face yesterday, and I think I owe you one. Two of the boys quickly start heading toward Timmy. Timmy drops his backpack and starts to fight them. Timmy is punched repeatedly by one of the boys while the other circles around to the back. Timmy tries to fend for himself, but the boy circling around grabs him from behind and grabs his arms. Timmy struggles to break free, but the first boy punches him repeatedly in the stomach. DUSTIN Move! The kid moves out of the way as Dustin comes in and starts punching Timmy. Timmys eyes start to close and his vision blurs ALEX (O.C.) (Faintly) HEY! FADE TO BLACK. BEGIN FLASHBACK EXT. OUTSIDE THE SWANSON HOUSE - SIX YEARS EARLIER Alex and Blake start to run around as Timmy sits there for a moment. He stands up just as Blake shoves him. BLAKE Youre it!!! Timmy falls on the ground. Alex comes and helps him up. ALEX You dont have to push so hard. Timmy looks at his elbow, which is slightly scraped from the pavement. Blake shrugs (CONTINUED)

CONTINUED: BLAKE Youre it! Blake starts running. ALEX Are you okay? TIMMY Yeah, it kind of hurt! BLAKE (Distant) Cmon, youre it!!!

Timmy smiles and looks at Alex, then reaches out slowly and touches him. TIMMY Youre it. Timmy starts to run. ALEX Hey, no fair! Alex starts running. The three boys run down the sidewalk. Alex tags Blake. ALEX Youre it! They all start running again. Blake shoves Timmy again, pushing him onto the ground. BLAKE Youre it! TIMMY Hey, that hurt! Timmy gets to his feet. He runs toward Blake at full speed and shoves him hard. Blake gets up. BLAKE Dont push Blake pushes Timmy (CONTINUED)

CONTINUED: BLAKE (Continues) Me TIMMY Dont push Timmy pushes Blake TIMMY me ALEX Guys, stop it. Lets be nice. TIMMY He pushed me first! BLAKE What a cry baby.

Blake tries to push at Timmy again, but he moves out of the way and tries to throw a punch at Blake. He misses and Blake starts to run away. Timmy chases after him. Alex chases the both of them. ALEX Cmon guys! END FLASHBACK FADE TO: EXT. STREET - MOMENTS LATER POV:TIMMYS EYES OPEN. ALEX IS STANDING OVER HIM. TIMMY What happened? ALEX Looks like Dustin wanted revenge. TIMMY Yeah, I got that. What happened? ALEX I saw you getting a beating and I broke it up.

TIMMY Why did you do that?! I couldve taken them. Alex looks skeptically at Timmy, and chuckles slightly. ALEX Yeah, I can see that. TIMMY You know what, fuck you! Just let me fight my own fuckin battles. Just because youre a fuckin pussy doesnt mean I have to follow your lead. ALEX Violence doesnt solve TIMMY - Anything. Yeah, I know, you tell me all the time. Why dont you just let me make my own mistakes, learn my own lessons? ALEX Im just trying to protect you. TIMMY Well, dont. Timmy walks away quickly. Over his shoulder, Alex is standing, looking at the ground. Anger and coldness etches Timmys face as he walks down the city street. FADE TO: INT. SCHOOL CAMPUS/A CLASSROOM - LATER THAT DAY Timmy sits in the class, staring off at the front of the class. Ms. Miller is talking to the class, wrapping up her lesson. The class starts to scuffle about getting together their things. RING! All the kids begin to file out the door.

MS. MILLER Dont forget, the research papers are due in two days. Timmy gets up from his chair and tries to meld into the outgoing traffic. MS. MILLER (Continuing) Please, please PLEASE make sure you dont forget to attach your outline with it. It is very important. (beat) Timmy, can you stay behind a moment please? Timmy steps out from the group of exiting students and stands next to a desk. As the last student exits, Ms. Miller turns to Timmy. Her eyes are full. She steps in close to Timmy. MS. MILLER Timmy, are you okay? Your grades have really started slipping since the beginning of the semester. You never give this class your attention, and then you come to class with bruises all over you. Is everything okay with you - at home? TIMMY Ms. Miller, please stop. MS. MILLER Excuse me. TIMMY With the concerned teacher bit. I get it. Every teacher has to have that one student that has been deemed as hopeless that they get to nurture and cultivate. That one student that will give them the hope it takes to make them to retirement, giving them hope that year after year after year underneath all the bullshit lectures about pronouns, algebraic equation, and the importance of the Declaration of Independence; they reached that one poor student who struggled all the way. Well, you can save it. Im your hopeless case (MORE) (CONTINUED)

TIMMY (contd) Ms. Miller; the difference between me and your cookie cutter scenario is that my story wont end with the last minute academic miracle. Put your hope somewhere else. I am going to fail. I plan on it, in fact. Ms. Miller looks at Timmy, her eyes wide. Timmy turns and walks out the door. Ms. Miller stands there, shocked as the hinged door closes quietly behind Timmy. She walks slowly back to her desk and sits down staring in deep thought at the wall. EXT. SCHOOL CAMPUS - MOMENTS LATER Timmy walks across campus, a pained look on his face. Many KIDS walk by him, staring at the bruises on his face. Footsteps PATTER behind him, faintly at first and then growing louder. Timmy looks around quickly to see who is behind him. ALENA (Panting lightly) Hey! Wait up. Timmy looks at Alena quizzically and continues to walk, a little slower. Alena catches up with him and walks by his side, her gaze pointed slightly at the ground. ALENA Hey, I just wanted to come up and Alena gasps dramatically ALENA Oh my God! What happened to your face? Are you okay, you look really hurt. TIMMY Im fine - thank you.

ALENA Dustin did this didnt he? Timmy stands quietly, looking at Alena. ALENA (Continued) That bastard! Are you okay? TIMMY Yeah, its really not as bad as it looks, I just havent cleaned it up yet. Alena looks at Timmy for a moment, engrossed in his injuries. ALENA I wanted to come up and tell you how grateful I am for what you did yesterday. A tear rolls down her cheek and she brushes it away with the top of her hand. ALENA Before that day, I had never felt so hopeless and scared in my entire life. You saved me. TIMMY I did what I had to do. That shouldnt happen to anyone. Timmy looks down at the ground and continues to walk. There is silence as they walk together. TIMMY What are you doing with a guy like that anyway? You should fine someone who will respect you ALENA I never thought Dustin would do something like that. Hes always been so sweet. TIMMY Hmm, has he? Ive seen you two together around campus, and all I see is him roughing you around.

ALENA Thats just how he shows his affection, but this, this was just scary. Alena begins to cry softly. Timmy stops and looks at her. As she cries quietly into the sleeves of her hoodie sweatshirt, Timmy reaches out his hand and awkwardly pats her on the back. Alena instantly breaks down and grabs Timmy who stands there surprised. She wraps her arms around him and sobs uncontrollably into his shirt. Timmy looks down at her with his arms held high and slowly brings his arms down to embrace her carefully. TIMMY Its okay. Youre going to be okay. Alena looks up at Timmy, her eyes puffy and red, tears leaving lines through the thin layer of makeup on her face. ALENA Scum like him need to just die!!! Timmys eyes widen slightly, he takes a quick breath in through his nose as he stands there and ponders the previous statement for a moment. After a brief moment, a small half-smile creeps onto his face, and he gives Alena a reassuring squeeze. FADE TO: EXT. SCHOOL CAMPUS - ONE HOUR LATER The campus is all but empty. Timmy and Alena are sitting on the ground up against a wall. Alena is cuddled up underneath his arm. Timmy is slowly petting her head and running his fingers through her hair. After a moment, Alena looks up at Timmy and sniffles, a small half-smile appearing on her face. Timmy looks down at her. TIMMY Are you feeling a little bit better?

Alena sniffles again and rubs her nose on the sleeve of her sweater, she looks up at him and with a reassuring smile, nods. A moment passes. ALENA I just realized that you saved me yesterday, and I dont really know who you are. Timmy gives a small smile. TIMMY Timmy Swanson ALENA AlenTIMMY Alena Isaacs, I know. Were in Biology together. ALENA Oh! I thought you looked familiar. Youre that quiet boy that sits in the back. TIMMY Thats me. ALENA Well, its a pleasure to meet you Timmy. TIMMY Same. Alena sits up and wipes her face on her sleeve. She presses her fingers up against the corners of her eyes. They sit there for a moment, Timmy sitting quietly, leaning up against the wall, and Alena hugging her knees. She looks down at her watch and stands up quickly. ALENA Oh shit! Im late for Lacrosse practice. I gotta go or Mr. Adams will kill me. Timmy stands up watching Alena as she grabs her backpack and jacket off of the ground.

After Alena scrambles with her things, she turns to Timmy and pauses; looking at him. ALENA Thank you again, Timmy. Youre a great guy. Alena leans forward and kisses Timmy on the cheek. Timmy smiles sheepishly as Alena turns and walks away. Timmy stands there smiling to himself for a moment. ALENA (V.O.) Scum like him need to just die!!! Timmys face hardens as he begins to walk away slowly. TIMMY (V.O) Yes they do, they need to just die. Timmy continues to walk, looking up at the sky with a determined look on his face. DISSOLVE TO: INT. SWANSON HOME/TIMMYS BEDROOM - NIGHT Timmy sits in his room, a dull light shining from a small desk lamp on his small writing desk. A textbook and some notebook paper sit in front of him. ALENA (V.O.) Scum like him need to just die!!! ALEX (V.O) Theres a lot of evil in this world Timmy and you cant combat it by being a part of it. TIMMY (V.O) He was fuckin raping her Alex! The fuckin creep was rapin her ALENA (V.O.) You saved me. DEBRA (V.O) Worthless!

ALEX (V.O) When you live in a world of monsters, some monsters just become a little less scary. The door CREAKS open, startling Timmy. Light creeps through and Alex peeks in the door. ALEX Hey. How are you feeling? Timmy sits and stares blankly at the wall. ALEX I see youre still mad. I dont understand why, but I think I get it. Im going over to Matthews house tonight. We have that big project to finish in chemistry. Alex stands for a second, waiting for a response. ALEX I guess Ill see you tomorrow. Alex closes the door, leaving the room dim once more. Timmy gets up from his chair and walks over to his bed, he lays down and stares at the ceiling, his eyes begin to close FADE OUT. INT. SWANSON HOME/TIMMYS BEDROOM - MINUTES LATER Out of nowhere, a loud SMASH as glass is being broken somewhere in the house. Timmys eyes fly open as he jumps out of bed and heads out the bedroom door. INT. SWANSON HOME - CONTINUOUS Timmy walks briskly down the hallway and into the dining room area. Debra is in the kitchen sobbing hysterically. Glass covers the floor in front of her. A teapot is sitting unattended on the stove. Her hand is bleeding. Debra looks over and sees Timmy entering the room.

Timmy walks toward her looking around at all the broken glass on the ground. The dish rack lay broken next to the kitchen table. TIMMY Mom! Calm down! Did you take your meds today? DEBRA Youd like that wouldnt you? Everyday you just pump me full of psych meds and pain pills to make into a vegetable so you dont have to look at me; dont have to face me! Timmy approaches the kitchen and looks around seeing the multiple orange bottles sitting on the counter. TIMMY Mom you need to Debra throws a mug toward Timmy, and it shatters against the wall. TIMMY CALM DOWN! Debra lunges at Timmy, but being large and uncoordinated, she slips on the wet floor and falls to the ground, sobbing. DEBRA Just take me out of my misery, God. I have nothing left to live for. Timmy stands there watching Debra as her sobbing changes in intensity The teapot begins to whistle. Timmy walks cautiously over to Debra still laying on the floor. TIMMY Cmon, take my hand. Im going to take you back to the couch, make you some tea. Timmy helps Debra off of the floor and guides her over to the couch. (CONTINUED)

Still sobbing, she pulls out a cigarette and lights it, taking a long pull from it. She holds in the smoke for a moment and exhales. DEBRA Why cant I just die already? Timmy turns and walks back toward the kitchen. TIMMY (Under his breath) Neither of us are that lucky. Timmy begins to prepare a cup of tea for his mom. As he stirs in some honey, he sees the multiple bottles of pills sitting there. He pauses for a moment and smiles. He grabs for two of the bottles and pulls a few pills out of each one. He sets them on the counter and looks around the kitchen. Off to his right, he sees one of his moms heavy ashtrays sitting near the stove. He grabs it and sets it on top of the pills. He applies pressure to the ashtray and the pills crush underneath it. Timmy lifts the ashtray and looks at the odd-colored dust. He slides the dust into his hand and dumps it into the tea. He grabs the spoon off the counter and stirs the tea vigorously. TIMMY Do you want milk in your tea, Mom Debra doesnt answer. With a smile on his face, Timmy walks over to the refrigerator and grabs the almost-empty milk gallon from the shelf. He pours whats left of the milk into the tea. Pausing for a second, he looks over at the bottle of meds again. Another smile creeps on his face as he grabs three of the bottles and pulls a different number of pills out of each one. He starts to walk back toward his mom. TIMMY So, the way I figure it, Its about time for your dose of meds. Im assuming you forgot to take your last dose. Timmy approaches Debra who is looking up at him hatefully. TIMMY (Continued) So, Ill give you both doses now and an extra one of your pain meds (MORE) (CONTINUED)

TIMMY (contd) considering that fall you took is going to hurt in a little bit. Timmy sticks out his hand toward Debra who ignores him. TIMMY Cmon mom. You have to take them, itll make you feel better. Slowly, Debra sticks out her hand, and Timmy places her meds neatly in her outstretched hand. Slowly and reluctantly, Debra puts the meds in her mouth as Timmy hands her her cup of tea. After staring at him for a second, she takes a drink and swallows. DEBRA You happy now? TIMMY Terribly so. Smiling, Timmy walks back to the kitchen and begins to clean up all the broken glass. FADE TO: INT. SWANSON HOME/KITCHEN - AN HOUR LATER The kitchen looks much cleaner as Timmy stands cleaning off the last bit of counter space, looking content. He grabs a saucer off of the counter and after rinsing it, places it in the dishwasher. A loud thunk is heard from the living room and Timmy looks in to see his mother slumped on the floor. Timmy walks over to her and grabs the cigarette out of her hand and puts it out in the overflowing ashtray. He grabs the small knit blanket from the couch and puts it over her lifeless figure. Staring for a moment, he crouches down and puts his fingers on her neck. He sits for a moment with his eyes closed, then smiles and bends down to kiss her on the side of the forehead. TIMMY Goodnight, Mother. Timmy gets up and walks toward his bedroom. In the hall, he pauses and looks at an old picture of Alex, Debra, and Himself at the lake 8 years ago.

ALEX (V.O) (Distant laughing) Cmon Timmy, lets go in the water. Timmy twitches for a moment then continues to his bedroom. DISSOLVE TO: INT. SWANSON HOME/HALLWAY - THE NEXT MORNING. The bright morning light shines into the curtains from the kitchen, slightly illuminating the dim hallway. A loud HEAVY METAL SONG plays. The door to Timmys room opens and he comes out of his room quickly, a smile on his face. He comes into the hallway and when he enters the living room, he sees his mom still laying on the floor where he left her. TIMMY Good morning Mother. With a hop in his step, he walks into the kitchen and begins pulling out eggs, bacon, butter and bread. He pulls out a frying pan and starts to cook the bacon. As the bacon cooks, Timmy heads toward a door at the front of the kitchen. INT. SWANSON HOME/GARAGE - CONTINUOUS Timmy walks across the cluttered garage over to a stack of boxes. The boxes are labeled "CHRISTMAS DECOR" and "HALLOWEEN DECOR" and are covered with dust. Timmy finds a box labeled "FISHING AND CAMPING". He pulls some tackle boxes, a lantern and various equipment out of the box until he comes to a hunting knife in a leather sheath. He picks it up and unsheathes it, examining the blade. After a moment, he puts the knife back in the sheath and hastily packs the box back up and puts it back. INT. SWANSON HOME/KITCHEN - MOMENTS LATER Timmy emerges from the garage just in time to flip the bacon over. He stands in front of the stove for a moment, smiling.

INT. SWANSON HOME/KITCHEN - MOMENTS LATER Timmy is at the table eating eggs, bacon and toast contently. ALENA (V.O.) You saved me! TIMMY (V.O) We can start over. ALENA (V.O.) Scum like him need to just die!!! TIMMY Yes, they do. FADE TO: EXT. SCHOOL CAMPUS - AFTERNOON Timmy is sitting at a metal table on campus. No one can be seen. After a moment, he looks down at his watch, then looks back up. The school bell RINGS. Kids start to file out of classrooms and the campus is soon filled with kids heading in all directions. Timmy gets up and starts walking with determination. Alena is standing next to a set of lockers. Dustin approaches her and Timmy stops. He watches as Alena and Dustin have a heated discussion MOS. He reaches into his jacket and pulls out the knife. He puts both hands inside his jacket pockets. Alena goes to walk away, and Dustin grabs her wrist. She tries to break free, and Dustin grabs her other wrist, trying to plead with her. Timmy starts walking toward them. As he approaches, Dustin looks up and lets go of Alena who backs off slowly. DUSTIN Look, asshole. Todays not the day to fTimmy pulls the knife from his pocket and stabs Dustin repeatedly in the stomach. Dustin falls to the ground, and Timmy stands there smiling, his hand and shirt covered with blood. (CONTINUED)

Alena SCREAMS and crouches down next to Dustin, sobbing hysterically. She looks up at Timmy. ALENA What is wrong with you? You monster! What is wrong with you? Timmys smile disappears and his expression is replaced with shock. ALENA What did you do, what did you do?! Dustin! Hold on Dustin! HELP! Someone call for help! Kids are screaming and running away seeing the scene in front of them. Alena strokes Dustins face, crying. ALENA No, dont go. Dont go. Alena looks back up at Timmy. ALENA You bastard! What did you do? TIMMY (Quietly) I thought this is what you wanted! ALENA You monster!!! Timmy stands there for a moment staring at Dustin and Alena DEBRA (V.O) Youre worthless, you cant do anything right. Timmy stares at Dustin and Alena again for a moment. Then, raises the knife up to his throat and cuts from one side to the other. MONTAGE: A) Alex and Timmy playing as kids B) Timmy slowly falling to the ground C) Alex, Timmy and Debra at the lake D) Timmy still falling, the knife falling to the ground (CONTINUED)

E) Timmy and Alex sitting with each other in current times. F) Timmy holding Alena in his arms. END MONTAGE As Timmy lays on his back, he sees Alex kneeling over him, a tear in his eye. FLASHBACK EXT. OUTSIDE THE SWANSON HOUSE - SIX YEARS EARLIER Blake is running, being chased by Timmy and Alex. Timmy yelling something at Blake MOS, a tear rolling down his face. EXT. SCHOOL CAMPUS - PRESENT Timmy looks up at Alex. INTERCUT BETWEEN FLASHBACK AND PRESENT The kids continue to run through the street, Alex in the back yelling. Alex looks down at bleeding Timmy. ALEX Its okay, brother, its over now. Alex trips and falls in the street. A horn HONKS and tires SCREECH. Alexs face is illuminated by headlights. Then THUD. A small smile crawls onto Timmys face as Alex starts to fade away and Timmy looks up at the sky. END INTERCUT EXT. SCHOOL CAMPUS - PRESENT The sounds start to fade as life starts to leave Timmys body. CROSSFADE TO:

EXT. A SMALL PARK - MANY YEARS AGO Timmy and Alex walk down a dirt trail, holding hands. FADE TO BLACK. THE END.
