The future is now. The phrase is easy to say yet few acknowledges this fact.

Eve rything around us is the product of decades of research, innovation and ingenui ty but due to the simplicity and elegance of these inventions, most people are c ontented with the knowledge of using it and to a matter of fact use them easily and without thinking. The capability of doing millions calculations in a second. Storing thousands of books inside a piece of plastic a size less than your fing ernails. And the ability to transport that amount of data across the world in fa ster than you can take a piss. These capabilities are hidden in a veil of user i nteraction only where people with the curiosity can rip its mystery and see the beauty of it all. A user interface should be so simple that a beginner in an emer gency can understand it within ten seconds. Yet in these innovations, we are still in its infant stage, just the tip of the iceberg on what we can accomplish and how far we can progress. O f all the improvements we can make, I have chosen one that I believe slips by 99 % of the people including the industry. That improvement is paper, to be more pr ecise documents. Many discoveries and advancements have been made, published and distributed as documents. The purpose of a document has always been solid yet I question can we not make it better? Has documents reached its dead end while ou r progress is still in its infantile stage? I say nay, we can make it better, we have the technology, we only need the discovery. The problem with current documents is what it represents, paper. In a world where technology advances so fast how come we have let the medium th at started it all be copied in all its features and limitations. Ask yourself wh at are the features of real life paper and a digital document. Whatever you can think of, I can assure you real paper can do it also. Now ask yourself what can paper not do with documents. We have limit this medium to its own purpose. Now I say let us remove these limitations and push it to new horizons. Instead of "Ho w do we imitate paper", let us question "How can documents improve on paper?". Let us remove the basic concept of paper. Let us utilize the ca pabilities of current computers to fully digitize and automate documents. Remove the restrictions, the misconception that a document should be flat, if games c an be in 3D why not documents. Progress and its medium has always been hand in hand in its evolution. How can we transcend our current state if our medium has been stale to the point that "improvements" by other developers are still just i mitations of paper with more restrictions and limitations (ahem...pdf...ahem). I f we are able to transition from imitating paper to automating paper, I believe we can create a catalyst to change and other innovations that even science ficti on have never dreamed of. Now release yourself from the bonds of traditional thinking and begin thinking not just outside the box but rather outside the system. The mind is as boundless as the universe itself. Discoveries are just waiting to be foun d, all we need to do is search for them.
