Re: NYPD Detective Bureau Unusual Occurrence Report
Bob Kerrey
Dear Mr. Shaffer:
John F. Lehman
Timothy J. Roemer On May 25, 2004 I received a letter from you regarding the document
production of a NYPD Detective Bureau Unusual Occurrence Report for
James R. Thompson the events of September 11, 2001. You state in your letter that such
reports were forwarded to the Joint Terrorist Task Force and are no longer
Philip D. Zelikow in the possession of the NYC Police Department. You suggest that I
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
should direct my request to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
I severed 27 years with the NYC Police Department and do not know of
any case where documents that are turned over to another agency are not
kept or copied by the originating NYC office. I also would like you to
know that when a Detective Bureau Unusual Occurrence report is
prepared numerous copies are made and distributed throughout the police
department. I know for a fact that the report in question is on file in the 1st
Precinct Detective squad in a case folder marked World Trade Center
Disaster 09/11/01 and is in the Homicide File cabinet drawer marked
2001. This report can also be found at the following locations in the NYC
Police Department.
