children to run a holiday program. If you have not signed up yet please do, so we can let families know if we will be holding a program. You can obtain a holiday registration form from Josh.

!uring the first three weeks of school we have been working on different pro+ects with our children. ,o far we made play dough, built wooden dinosaurs and made ice cream in addition to our scheduled daily activities. -hese pro+ects involve science, arts and crafts, cooking and sports.

Kindergarten Program
From 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. every day we start our after school program with our kindergarteners. During this time we read a chapter book and discuss the story. hile reading the story we do many activities related to the book. e are starting the school year with a collection of the classic !urious "eorge stories called #he !omplete $dventures of !urious "eorge% by &argret and '.$. (ey. hile reading these the children are asked many )uestions about the story. *ne of the things we ask the students to do is make predictions about what will happen in the story.

Fitness Program
0ast year we started following the P$0$ 1Presidential $ctive 0ifestyle $ward2 fitness program% which has two core principals -- physical activity and nutrition. #he program runs for si/ to eight weeks and asks participants to commit to making healthy choices by

doing 60 minutes of physical activity and creating weekly nutritional goals.

We will help the children chart their daily physical activity on a regular basis. In the after school program we are spending over an hour outside each day as long as weather permits. During this time the children are involved in many different activities that can count towards their 60 minutes of physical activity.
