Tom and Christopher combined their skills to launch the venture, bringing together Toms strong business sense and Christophers many years in the screen printing industry. Yet, life can be tremendously unpredictable. In May of 2013, Tom passed away from heart disease. Nonetheless, the business continued, with Toms widow, Christine, jumping in to help on the management side, and another brother, Loren, coming aboard as well. To date, the family has weathered its trials and the business has persevered to celebrate is rst anniversary. Gosser Bros Screen Printing is unique in that they offer on-site screen printing, embroidery, and heat sealing (personalizing items through application of names, numbers, etc.) services. They work with businesses, individuals, and local schools to create these custom items, including shirts, sweatshirts, gym bags, blankets, scarves, hats, can cozies, etc. Their services also include help in the creation of

A Community No School for Huron Thanksgiving Request Students on Monday for Huron Residents
As two of ve current school board members, we would like to thank the community for their support of our district in the recent election. The levy renewal will help us maintain funding levels for another 2-3 years; with its passage we can stay on pace with our predicted ve year nancial forecast. On a personal level, we want to express our sincere gratitude to the residents and staff that supported us throughout the campaign. We would also like to make a plea to all Huron residents to put aside the rhetoric and animosity that has permeated our community over the last 18 months. We pray that the energy, focus, and passion expended during the campaign will be replaced with civility and respect for the sake of our children. The future fate of our community will be determined much more by its residents than by individual board members. There are many learning lessons to take away from this election for all of us. We look forward to serving the entire community and giving our children the quality educational opportunities they deserve. Due to the State approved in-service day there will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, December 2, 2013 for all students enrolled in Huron City Schools. Parents and guardians will need to make alternative arrangements for their students on the Monday following Thanksgiving Break. Huron City Schools is pleased that the Ohio Department of Education has approved the request for a waiver day this school year. A waiver day is designed to give faculty and staff a day in which they can review, reevaluate, and determine if they are on target to achieve academic and operational goals for the year. A large portion of the day will focus on school safety and security procedures. Ofcers from the Huron Police Department will discuss and review the latest best practices as they relate to school safety protocols, explained Superintendent Dennis Muratori. For further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Mr. Muratori by phone at 419.433.1234 ext. 5026 or via email at ASKDENNY@HURONHS.COM

Students of the Month for October

BY MARY STRAYER, MAsTER GARDENER,

The Garden in Winter Huron High School Awards

Look outside your windows, with snow in the forecast, you could notice that the garden will stand barren and white. Watch it carefully as the snow piles up. Is there someplace you would like to have an architectural element, a statue, a new shrub to give the garden even more shape and form? Look at it carefully, especially out the windows where you sit the most, at any time of the day. Is there something great to see? Try to envision a red holly shrub, with its bright red berries still attached. Would you like to look at a swaying grass such as Miscanthus? Make yourself a note; put it into your day planner, or your garden journal, so you can remember these thoughts early next spring. Now, when the winds calm down, and you begin again to get cabin fever, go outside and look at the trunks at the ground level, and see if there are any rodent tracks or tunnels there. If you nd your tree trunk has had damage from rodents nibbling on it, then there still might be time to remove the snow from around the tree trunk, and cover the bottom of the trunk with a piece of plastic exible pipe used for drains. Simply cu a length, and stretch it around the damaged area. Again, make a note to remove the pipe in mid spring. If you havent already done so, take time now to go over the garden catalogs online, or ones that might have come in the mail. Every year, I try to add at least one knew thing to my garden. Over the last 3 years, I have been cutting down on the size of the gardens, and the work that has to be done there. But, still, I will add at least one new thing each year. Some will say its crazy, but I believe that as long as you can still actively garden, you need a little new each year to keep your mind happy and spirits high. Even if you can only have a few pots outside your condo door, change what is in them each year. Have fun with gardening, every minute you possibly can. Happy Gardening.

Sports 6 Tigers Run-n-Shoot Their Way Past Loudonville, 17-13

Thursday, November 21st, 2013 www.HuronHometownNews.com
Medina, OH - Trailing 10-6 and after trading blows for most of the second half of play, Loudonville mustered up a TD drive. With the aid of two untimely personal foul penalties, the opposition strung together plays that culminated with a one yard dive by the Loudonville QB with just 3:34 left in the game. The score was now 13-10 and Huron trails for the rst time all night. As a Tiger fan, it was hard to be optimistic. Both defenses had played extremely well all night. Huron stopped the oppositions rushing attack, something that had given the Tigers trouble all year. But, the Loudonville front seven had boxed in QB Cody Thompson all game long, very reminiscent of what Clyde had done in the Tigers worst loss of the season. The only time Thompson had broken free was midway through the rst quarter when he scampered into the end zone from 29 yards out. Other than a Dusza 32 yard eld goal during the second quarter, that had been the extent of the Tiger repower. It was then that the 2013 edition of Tiger football came up with their own version of The Drive. With a little over three minutes left to play and Thompson in the shotgun, the QB found Zach Souter three times for gains that kick started the drive. When Huron needed to convert a third down, they did. The big play of the game came with Huron on the Loudonville 33 yard line. Thompson rolls to his right and nds nothing but a Loudonville LB waiting for him. He spins quickly and sprints back to his left. At the same time, RB Tommy Bogden drifts down the right sideline.
BY CHRIS MIScHLER

(ABOVE) WR Nick Stauffer (3) makes a tough grab. (BELOW) Tommy Bogden scores the game clinching TD! (RIGHT) Zach Souter (32) has ne game as the teams top receiver.

Thompson spots him and res the ball (while running in the opposite direction) downeld and hits Bogden who leaps over one would-be tackler, then bulls his way to the two yard line. With the Huron fans going crazy, Bogden then nds a hole on the right side of the line for the game winning touchdown with 1:11 to play. Dusza hits the critical extra point to ensure Loudonville will have to score a touchdown to win. They dont come close. Tigers win 17-13. Coach Legandos squad will now play this Saturday, November 23rd for the Regional Championship in Findlay, at Findlay Donnell Stadium, against the always tough team from Coldwater. Note: Congrats to Coach Legando who just notched his 197th career victory last week!
