ZERO Film Festival, First Of Its Kind, Exclusive To

Self-Financed and Zero Budget Filmmakers, Kicks Off At
Galapagos Art Space in DUMBO On August 20th

BROOKLYN, NY – (August 12th, 2009) – ZERO Film Festival – the first festival exclusive to self-
financed Filmmakers and zero budget films – is premiering on August 20th in NYC with a launch
party at Galapagos Art Space in anticipation of its weeklong December festival.

Focusing on a niche in the independent film community, which has been under appreciated and ignored,
ZERO Film Festival is dedicated to screening self-financed and zero budget films from filmmakers all
over the world. Filmmakers will transcend Hollywood nonsense and present the finest hidden cinematic
talent of today.

“In the age where the majority of festivals are Hollywood marketing campaigns, and even ‘indie’ and
‘underground’ festivals screen financed films, we are here to offer something different,” says Richard
Hooban, ZERO Founder and Director. “We recognize authentically independent films and filmmakers
who take risks and fight the odds to see their visions through.”

The August 20th event features filmmakers Peru Ana Ana Peru, Guy Ben-Ner, Victor Varnado, Alia
Raza, Aaron Katz, Timothy Saccenti, Rodrigo Lopresti, Sunset Television, Jesse Gelaznik, Elaine Lima,
Bianca Ahmadi, Lovisa Inserra, “Mike Smith”, Zach Clark, Mary Wall Bronstein, Lena Dunham, Team
Zero and more.

The evening will also include live appearances by Kaki King, Soundpool, Setting Sun, Dan Gould, and
a video premiere from School of Seven Bells (SVIIB). Free Pabst Blue Ribbon from 7:30 to 8:30pm.
