Quilt Display – The quilts displayed today were made by SoJ’s quilters and will be sent to one of
40 countries by Lutheran World Relief in response to natural disasters or for hospitals and refugee
camps. They will be used as covers, tents, rugs, or even room dividers. 2 million quilts were made
by U.S. Lutherans in 2007, including 5793 in Florida…with SoJ personally delivering 11 to Burundi.

Converge Benefit – Check out the tables with items donated by the EastWood Publix today.
Donations will benefit Converge Food Ministries! Food donations for Converge are invited Sunday.

Two Adult Studies Today – You are invited to gather for Bible study and sharing today at 10:45
a.m. in the youth room or following the 10:45 service in the large classroom. All are welcome!

New Member / Disciple Orientation Today – Want to learn more about SoJ and what it means
to become a member? Attend the orientation from 12:30-2:30pm today. Lunch is provided.

Ugandan Children’s Choir Today – You won’t want to miss this last minute blessing! The 18
voice Watoto Children’s Choir from Uganda, Africa will share a concert of African rhythm,
contemporary gospel, and ethnic dance at 5 p.m. today at SoJ. A free-will offering will be received.

Prayer Gathering For Those Facing Economic Insecurity Today – You’re invited to a join us
at 7 p.m. today to pray for jobs and businesses, for financial and job stability and blessing, for
strength, patience, perseverance, peace, and total security in Christ. If you’re facing economic
insecurity or want to stand in solidarity with those who are, please come. Invite your friends who’d
be blessed to know that God and SoJ care! For maximum blessing, come at 5 p.m. for the concert!

Annual Meeting Notice – SoJ’s annual congregation meeting will be Feb. 13th @ 7 p.m.

Young Adult Ministry Monday – SoJ’s young adult small group meets 7:30pm Monday at Phil
Greve's for a discussion/study based on the ONE campaign. Anyone interested in this effort to ad-
dress the needs of the world's poor, and what we can do locally, is invited. Directions? See Phil or

Card Game Fun Feb. 8 – Sign up for a casual evening and fun game of cards 7pm Friday, Feb.
8th. Light snacks will be provided. Bring your own beverages. Sign up at the Welcome Center soon.

Lenten Prayer Retreat Feb. 9 – Sign-up today for a Prayer Retreat, Saturday, Feb. 9th from
9:30am – 3:30pm at SoJ. Learn some simple activities to enliven your prayer life! Experience pray-
er through reading Scripture, listening to music, the visual arts, and silence. Our retreat leader is
Dr. Jonathan Linman (brother of Pastor Jeff), the Director of the Center for Christian Spirituality at
the Episcopal Church Seminary in New York City. Suggested donation: $15, lunch included.

Women’s Heart to Heart Pajama Party – All women are invited to take a trip down memory
lane and relive some teenage slumber party memories, Friday, Feb. 15th from 7 to 11 p.m. in SoJ’s
youth room. There’ll be music, games, food, sharing and fun. Sign-up at Welcome Center!

February Outreach Team Project – SoJ's Outreach Team is collecting dried or canned beans for
Harvest of Hope. Place donations in the wagon by the cafe by Sunday, Feb 17. Monetary
donations are welcomed too. Mark an SoJ offering envelope HoH and place it in the offering
basket.

Creative Arts Studio – Interested in learning how you can support the outreach of the Creative
Arts Studio to our community? Contact Phil Greve! Volunteers are needed at a variety of levels,
from baking cookies for recitals to helping plan the next Deck the Halls event. If you have a heart
for helping others discover and develop their artistic gifts we can find a place for you to serve!

Faith @ Work – Volunteers are needed to send out the Faith@Work one week a month. For
information call, Eleanor Kuhles, 658-6327 or Dick Lovisone, 384-8178.

Quilting Team – Quilters will meet the first and third Thursday, February 7 and 21. Used king-
size mattress pads and fabrics are needed. Our quilts will be sent to Lutheran World Relief in

Bicycle Ministry – Volunteers are needed to help repair bicycles for people in need at 10am on
the 2nd Saturday and 10 am on Wednesdays. To get involved call Will Stevenback, 407-401-1963.

Sunday’s COOL – Students will now be split into three classes, based on grade level: Pre-K, K &
1st Grade; 2nd & 3rd Grade, and 4th & 5th Grade classes. Students will check in at individual classes.
Signs are posted by the door of the Splash Zone and Classroom to designate classes. 2 nd–5th
grade students should bring their Bibles to Sunday’s COOL.

Leadership Overnight Friday – For youth interested in having a bigger role in SoJ’s youth
program, this group will learn how to lead in character, actions, and practical tips for leading Bible
studies and discussions. Leadership Overnight will be at the Eastwood’s home in Sanford this
Friday, 6:30pm-2pm, and Saturday. See Nicole about being a part of this Leadership Training.

Souper Bowl of Caring Next Sunday – On Super Bowl Sunday, February 3, SoJ’s youth will be
collecting donations of dollars and canned food so that all may have a “Souper” Sunday. Our goal

is 100 cans of food (proteins and fruit preferred) and $1 from everyone! All cash and food
donations will be used to support Converge Food Ministries in East Orange County.

YouthWorks Summer Trip Update! SoJ’s Middle School Youth will be traveling to Savannah, GA
while our High School Youth travel to Bayou La Batre, AL to help with hurricane cleanup. A $50
deposit is due now! Don’t let money be a barrier! Please see our Family Ministry Coordinator,
Nicole Eastwood. Male & Female Adults are needed to chaperone these two trips.

Chili Cook-Off For Youth Mission Trips Wednesday February 13 – Join us for the 3rd Annual
Chili Cook Off for Youth Mission Trips starting at 6pm Wednesday, February 13 th (right before SoJ’s
Annual Meeting). Please sign up in the Welcome Center soon to donate/enter your chili in the
competition. Monetary donations will be matched by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and used for
transportation for this summer’s youth mission trips.

Paid Nursery Attendant Opening –SoJ is still looking to hire a part-time nursery attendant to
work Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interested? See Nicole Eastwood.

Youth Recycling Project – SoJ’s youth recycle inkjet, laser cartridges, AND cell phones. Drop
them in the appropriate box at the Welcome Center. Thanks for your support!

SoJ Hosts Cub Scout Pack – SoJ sponsors Cub Scout Pack 134 at 7 p.m. on Monday nights. Boys
6 to 11 years old interested in being a Cub Scout should contact Chuck Call @ 407-375-4548.

Joy Singers – Our adult choir is open to anyone of high school age and up, regardless of
experience! They meet during Wednesday Night Live from 7-8 p.m. in the worship center.

Children’s Choir – This group is open to kids in grade 1-5, and meets during Wednesday Night
Live from 7-8 p.m. in the large classroom.

Joyful Noise – This is the Sunday morning worship team, which prepares new music each week to
lead our congregation in worship at 9:00 and 10:45. If interested, see Phil about taking a Musical
Gifts Assessment to be a part of this group.

Drama Team – SoJ’s Drama Team consists of writers and actors who are interested in utilizing
their talents in short skits to enhance the worship experience. If you would like to be involved in
the Drama Team, please contact Sandy and Doug Gaston at 407-382-4027.

CAS Art Classes – Nancy Watson will be teaching art classes soon. Children’s Art (ages 7-10) will
start Monday Feb. 4, 5-6 p.m. For more info, pick up a flyer at Welcome Center.

Private Music Lessons – SoJ’s Creative Arts Studio has 12 instructors teaching almost every
instrument and voice. For more information or to register, pick up a flyer in the Welcome Center.
