OBJECTIVE
The objective of this course is to familiarize the students with concepts related to the operation analysis of linear integrated circuits like op-amp741, 555 timer, 565. Unit 1 is aimed at basics of differential amplifier using BJT/FET in different configuration and their analysis, operational amplifier IC and its parameters, analysis of different configuration and operating modes like inverting, non-inverting and differential. Application of op-amp like adder, comparator, Subtractor. Unit 2 is aimed at application as well as design of Integrator, Differentiator, Phase Shift, Wien Bridge, Quadrature, Square Wave, Triangular Wave, Sawtooth Oscillators. Using operational amplifier IC 741. And also study of Voltage Controlled Oscillators, Voltage to Frequency & Frequency to Voltage Converters Unit 3 is aimed at design of active filters using operational amplifier IC such as LPF, HPF, BPF, BSF, APF filters. And also study of switched capacitor filter. Unit 4 is aimed at basics of phase locked loops and their applications, which include operating principles of PLL, Linear Model of PLL, Lock Range, Capture Range, Applications of PLL as FM Detector, FSK Demodulator, AM Detector, Frequency Translator, Phase Shifter, Tracking Filter, Signal Synchronizer and Frequency Synthesizer, Building Blocks of PLL, LM 565 PLL Unit 5 is aimed at linear ICs four quadrant multiplier & its applications, basic blocks of linear IC voltage regulators, three terminal voltage regulators, and positive and negative voltage regulators. The 555 timer as astable and monostable multivibrators. Zero crossing detector, schmitt trigger.
EXPECTED OUTCOMES
By the end of the course, students are expected to know and understand the concepts related to the operational amplifier IC, PLL, 555 Timer IC etc. They are able to design various circuits using different analog ICs. Students are expected to design various oscillators using op-amp. They are also able to design filters of any order using op-amp IC. Students are expected to design circuits which provide accurate time delays using 555 Timer IC. They are also able to design power supply using regulator IC.
