Psalm 1 Blessed the man who has not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor taken the

path of the sinful, nor sat among pernicious men. But who delights in the law of the Lord and will meditate upon his law day and night. He shall be as a tree that is planted near running water, That shall yield its fruit in due season, and its lea es shall not fall! "nd in whate er he does he shall prosper. Not so the wicked, not so# They are like chaff scattered by the wind from the face of the earth. Therefore the wicked shall not stand in $udgment, nor sinners in the councils of the $ust, %or the Lord knows the way of the $ust, but the way of the wicked shall cease to be. Psalm & 'hy did the (entiles grow insolent and the people practice ain things) The kings of the earth stood side by side, the princes conspired against the Lord and against his anointed one. *Let us burst their bonds and throw off their yoke,* they said. He who dwells in the hea ens will laugh them down! the Lord will make light of them. But then in his anger he will speak to them, and in his wrath, strike terror in them# *+t is + who was established king by him on ,ion, his holy mountain.* Proclaiming the Lord-s command, The Lord said to me# *.ou are my son! today + ha e begotten you. "sk of me, and + will gi e you the nations as your lot, and the ends of the earth as your domain. .ou will shepherd them with an iron staff# like a potter-s essels you will shatter them.* "nd now, you kings, take notice! be informed you who $udge the earth. ,er e the Lord with fear, e/ult in him with trembling. "ccept his censure, lest the Lord be angry and you perish from the way of righteousness. 'hen his wrath is suddenly kindled, blessed are all who trust in him. Psalm 0 1 Lord, why do so many taunt me) 2any are those who rise up against me! 2any who say to me, *There is no sal ation for him in his (od.* But you, 1 Lord, are a shield around me, my glory# the one who lifts up my head. + cried out to the Lord in a loud oice, and from his holy mountain he heard me. "s for me, + lay down and slept. Then + awoke, for the Lord will be my help. + will not fear ten thousand people arrayed against me all around. "rise, 1 Lord, and sa e me, my (od3

%or you ha e stricken all who hated me without cause! you ha e shattered the sinners- teeth. This deli erance is the Lord-s. 4pon your people be your blessing3 Psalm 5 'hen + cried out to him, the (od of my righteousness heard me. .ou ga e me relief in my distress# ha e mercy on me and hear my prayer. .ou sons of men, how long will you be hard6hearted) 'hy do you lo e anity and practice deceit) 7now that the Lord works wonders for his faithful. The Lord will hear me when + cry out to him. Be passionate, but do not sin! repent in your bed for the words of your heart. 1ffer a sacrifice of righteousness, and hope in the Lord. 2any are those who say, *'ho will show us good things)* The light of your countenance, 1 Lord, has left its mark upon us. .ou ha e put gladness in my heart. They were filled with the gifts of their wheat, wine and oil. + will lie down in peace to sleep, for you, 1 Lord, ha e let me dwell in hope. Psalm 8 Listen to my words, 1 Lord, attend to my complaint. Be attenti e to the sound of my appeal, 1 my king and my (od, for to you will + pray, 1 Lord3 "t dawn, you shall hear my oice! at daybreak, + will stand at your ser ice and keep watch. %or you are not a (od whom ini9uity pleases, neither shall e ildoers dwell with you! Nor can lawless men stand in your sight. .ou loathe all those who work ini9uity. .ou will destroy e ery liar# the Lord abhors all men of blood and deceit. But +, in the abundance of your lo ing mercy, will ha e access to your dwelling place. + will worship at your holy temple in re erence of you. 1 lord :sic;, be my guide in your $ustice! because of my foes, clear my path before you. +ndeed, in their mouth there is no truth, and their heart is ain. Their throat is but a gaping tomb, their words decei e. <udge them, 1 (od! let them flounder in their e il plots. Because of their many crimes, cast them out, for they ha e risen against you, the Lord, "nd all who trust in you shall re$oice# they shall re$oice for e ermore. "nd you will dwell among them, and all who lo e your name shall be glad, %or you bless the $ust, 1 Lord. .ou ha e co ered us as with a shield of grace.

Psalm = 1 Lord, in your anger, rebuke me not, chasten me not in your wrath! Ha e pity on me, 1 Lord, for + am weak! heal me, 1 Lord, for my ery bones are troubled. "nd my soul is upset e/ceedingly. But you, 1 Lord, how long) >elent, 1 Lord, and free my soul! out of your great lo e deli er me. %or in death no one remembers you, and in Hades, who will sing your praise) + am e/hausted with my moaning# shall + weep e ery night upon my bed and drench my couch with tears) 2y eyes are sore with weeping, + am worn out because of all my foes. Begone from me, all you e ildoers, for the Lord has heard the sound of my lament. The Lord has heeded my appeal, the Lord has acceded to my prayer. Let all my foes be greatly shamed and e/ed, let them be swiftly routed and mightily cast down. Psalm ? 1 Lord my (od, + ha e hoped in you# sa e me from my pursuers and deli er me, Lest the enemy as a lion sei@e my soul, while there is none to ransom or sa e me. 1 Lord my (od, if + ha e done this, if there is in$ustice on my hands, +f + ha e returned e il to those who wronged me, may + fall e/hausted at the hand of my foes. 2ay the enemy then hunt down my soul and sei@e it! 2ay he trample my life to the ground and grind my honor to dust. "rise, 1 Lord, in your anger be e/alted in my foes remotest lands# "wake, 1 Lord my (od in your commanding will. "nd the assembly of peoples shall surround you, and you will regard it from on high. The Lord is the $udge of nations# $udge me, 1 Lord, according to my merit, and to the innocence that is mine. Put an end to the malice of the wicked and sustain the $ust, 1 (od who test minds and hearts, >ightful is my help from (od who sa es the upright of heart. (od the $ust $udge, strong and patient, does not show his anger e ery day. +f you do not repent, he will furbish his sword. He has bent his bow and made it ready. He has fitted it with implements of death! his arrows will bring fiery ruin. Behold the sinner in his wickedness# he concei ed in pain and brought forth ini9uity! He opened a pit, and co ered it up! he shall fall into the ery hole he dug. The e il he wrought shall return upon his head, and the wrongs he has done, upon his skull. + will gi e thanks to the Lord according to his $ustice "nd sing praise to the name of the Lord most high.

Psalm A Lord, our Lord, how wonderful your name in all the earth. %or your e/cellence has been e/alted abo e the hea ens. %rom the mouth f babes and sucklings, you ha e fashioned perfect praise Because of your enemies, to silence the hostile and the engeful. %or + will look upon the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars you ha e established. 'hat is man, that you should be mindful of him, 1r the son of man, that you should ha e regard for him) .ou ha e made him a little lower than the angels, crowning him with glory and honor. "nd you ha e set him o er the works of your hands! you ha e put all things under his feet, "ll of the sheep and o/en, yea, e en the beasts of the field, The birds of the sky and the fishes of the sea, and all that mo es along ocean pathways. Lord, our Lord, how wonderful your name in all the earth3 Psalm B 1 Lord, + will gi e thanks to you with my whole heart! + will recount all your wonderful works, + will be glad and e/ult in you, + will sing to your name, 1 most high3 'hen my enemies are turned back, they will weaken and perish before you! %or you held up my cause and my right while seated on the throne meting $ustice. .ou rebuked the (entiles, and the ungodly perished. .ou blotted out their name fore er, unto ages of ages. The enemy-s swords ha e failed utterly, and you ha e laid cities to waste! Their memory has been erased resoundingly, but the Lord endures fore er. He has prepared his throne for $udgment, and he will $udge the world with $ustice, and the (entiles with uprightness. The Lord has become a ha en for the poor, a timely help in affliction. "nd let those who know your name hope in you, 1 Lord, %or you ha e not failed those who seek you. ,ing praise to the Lord who dwells in ,ion! proclaim his deeds among the nations, %or he remembered, as the a enger of their blood! he has not forgotten the pleas of the poor. Ha e mercy on me, 1 Lord# consider how my foes ha e struck me down, 1 you who raise me up from the ery gates of death, That + may proclaim all your praises at the gates of the daughters of ,ion, %or + will greatly re$oice in your sal ation. The nations are sunk in the pit of their own making! +n the snare they concealed, their own foot is caught.

+n e/ecuting $udgment, the Lord is made manifest! the :sic; sinful man is trapped by the works of his hands. Let sinners be confined to Hades, all those nations that forget (od, %or the poor shall ne er be forgotten! the patience of the needy shall ne er be in ain. "rise, 1 Lord, let not man pre ail! let the (entiles be $udged in your presence. 1 Lord, appoint a lawmaker o er them! let the (entiles know they are only mortals. Psalm 1C 1 Lord, why do you stand aloof) 'hy do you ignore us in good times and bad) 'hile the godless man acts with arrogance, the poor is hotly pursued. The wicked are caught in their own de ices, for the sinner boasts in his secret lusts, while the e ildoer is blessed. The sinner has pro oked the Lord, in the e/cess of his pride he refuses to seek him. %or him there is no (od! his ways are fore er profane! your $udgments are far from his thoughts They will hold sway o er all his enemies, for he said in his heart, *+ shall not be shaken by ad ersity from generation to generation.* His mouth is full of cursing, bitterness and fraud! under his tongue are mischief and deceit. He lies in ambush with rich men to slay the innocent! he lurks like a lion in its den to ra ish the poor. To ra ish the poor man when he lures him out, He crouches to fall upon the poor until he can Lord :sic; it o er him, %or he said in his heart,* :sic; (od has forgotten3 He has turned away his face so as ne er to see.* "rise, 1 Lord (od3 Let your hand be lifted up! forget not the poor. 'hy has the wicked pro oked (od, for he said in his heart# *He will not seek to know3* .ou do see, for you witness the trouble and wrath that deli er them into your hands. The poor has been left to you! you were a helper to the orphan. Break the arm of the sinner and the wicked! his sin shall be challenged# he shall be found no more., :sic; The Lord shall reign fore er, unto ages of ages! The (entile shall anish from his land. The lord :sic; has heard the longing of the poor. .our ear inclined to their heart-s good will, To $udge for the orphan and the meek, that man may no longer boast upon the earth. + ha e trusted in the Lord, How can you say to my soul, *%lee to the mountains as the sparrow)*

%or behold# the sinners ha e bent their bow, their arrows are ready in the 9ui er To shoot in the moonless night at the upright of heart. +f they pull down what you had built, what can the righteous do) The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord! his throne is in hea en. His eyes look upon the poor! his ision probes the sons of men. The Lord tests both the $ust and the un$ust. The man who lo es in$ustice hates his own soul. He shall rain upon sinners snares, fire and brimstone! a stormy blast shall be the share of their cup. %or the Lord is $ust and a lo er of $ustice! his face is turned toward righteousness. Psalm 11 ,a e me, 1 Lord, for the pious man is no more, for truth has faded among the children of men. D eryone has spoken anity to his neighbor. Their lips decei e, they utter lies. 2ay the Lord silence all lying lips and e ery boastful tongue. Those who said, *'e will e/alt our tongue! our lips are our own. 'ho is lord o er us)* *Because of the misery of the poor, and because of the sighing of the needy, Now will + rise,* said the Lord, *+ will place them in safety, + will speak of it openly.* The words of the Lord are sacred words, as sil er tried in fire. Pro ed in a furnace of clay purified se en times. .ou, 1 Lord, will safeguard us and sa e us from this generation fore er. The ungodly surround us on e ery side. +n your greatness, you ha e e/alted the sons of men. Psalm 1& How long, 1 Lord, will you forget me) %ore er) How long will you turn your face away from me) How long shall + harbor unrest in my mind and sorrows in my heart) D ery day) Look upon me, and hear me 1 Lord my (od3 (i e light to my eyes lest + sleep unto death, Lest my enemy boast, *+ ha e pre ailed o er him.* 2y oppressor would re$oice if + were o erthrown. But + ha e hoped in your lo ing mercy. 2y heart will e/ult in your sal ation. + will sing to the Lord who has shown me kindness! + will sing psalms to the name of the Lord most high. Psalm 10 The fool has said in his heart, *There is no (od.* They ha e become corrupt and hateful in their ways. Not one of them does any good, not e en one. The Lord looked down from hea en upon the children of men, to see if any

understood, or searched for (od. They ha e all gone astray, become corrupt. There is not one that does good# no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulcher! with their tongues, they ha e used deceit. The enom of asps is under their lips, and their mouth is full of cursing and gall. Their feet are swift to shed blood, destruction and misery are on their paths. "nd the way of peace they ha e not known. There is no fear of (od in their eyes. 'ill not e ildoers be aware of this, who de our my people as they would eat bread) They ha e not called upon the Lord. There did they fear where there was no fear, for (od is with the righteous generation. .ou ha e dishonored the will of the afflicted, but the Lord is his hope. 'ho will bring +srael-s sal ation out of ,ion) 'hen the Lord brings back his capti e people, let <acob e/ult and +srael be glad. Psalm 15 1 Lord, who shall lodge in your temple, and who shall dwell on your holy mountain) The man who is blameless and does $ustice, speaking truth within his heart! 'ho has not decei ed with his tongue nor harmed his neighbor, nor spread a rumor against those who li e near him. +n his sight, an e ildoer is nothing, but he honors those who fear the Lord. He swears to his neighbor, and keeps his word! he has not lent his money at usury! He has not recei ed bribes against the innocent, he that acts this way shall ne er be shaken. Psalm 18 ,afeguard me, 1 Lord, for + ha e hoped in you. + said to the Lord, *.ou are my Lord, for you ha e no need of my good.* "s to the holy one who li e in his land, he has magnified all his fa or in them. Their weaknesses ha e been multiplied, afterwards, they hurried. + will not con ene their bloody assemblies, neither will my lips mention their name. The Lord is the share of my inheritance and my cup! you ha e restored my inheritance to me. %or me, the boundaries ha e fallen in the best places. .es, + ha e a most e/cellent inheritance. + will bless the Lord who has counseled me# my own heart teaches me e en in the night. + ha e always had the Lord before my eyes, for he is at my right hand, that + be not shaken. Therefore my heart re$oiced and my tongue e/ulted, and my body also felt secure. %or you will not abandon my soul to Hades, nor suffer your faithful one to see corruption. .ou ha e shown me the ways of life# you will fill me with the $oy of your

presence. "t your right hand, there are endless delights. Psalm 1= Listen, 1 Lord to my $ust cause hear my prayer from innocent lips. Let my indication come directly from you# let my eyes witness what is right. .ou ha e probed my heart, you ha e isited by night, you ha e tested me as with fire, "nd unrighteousness has not been found in me, so that my mouth does not speak wrongly. "s for the works of men, through the words of your lips + ha e guarded myself against unlawful ways. (uide my steps along your paths, that my feet stumble not. + ha e cried out, and you heard me, 1 (od! incline your ear to me and hear my words. ,how the mar els of your mercies, 1 you who sa e those who hope in you3 7eep me as the apple of your eye from those who resist your right hand. ,helter me under the co er of your wings from the face of the ungodly who ha e oppressed me. 2y enemies ha e surrounded my soul. They ha e closed their hardened hearts! Their mouth has spoken arrogantly! they ha e cast me out and surrounded me. They ha e set up their sights so as to throw me to the ground! They lay in wait for me as a lion stalks its prey, or as a young lion waiting in ambush. "rise, 1 Lord, face up to them and cast them down3 Eeli er my soul from ungodly men. Lift up your double6edged sword against the enemies of your hand. 1 Lord, cast them off from the face of the earth! cut them off in the prime of their life. Though their bellies were filled with your secret gifts, they gorged themsel es with filth, and left the remains to their young. But + will appear in righteousness before you, and shall be satisfied at the sight of your glory. Psalm 1? + will lo e you, 1 Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my refuge and my safety. 2y (od is my help, + will hope in him, my defense and the might of my sal ation, my sa ior3 + will call upon the Lord with praises, and + shall be deli ered from my enemies. The throes of death surrounded me, and the torrents of impiety o erwhelmed me. The pangs of Hades came round about me, and the snares of death threatened me. 'hen + was afflicted, + called upon the Lord, and cried out to my (od. %rom his holy mountin, he heard my oice, and my cry shall reach his ears.

"nd their were tremors and 9uakes on earth, and the mountains- foundations were shaken, "nd they were made to mo e, for (od was angry with them. +n his wrath, a smoke was wafted, and fire burst into flame at his presence, and embers were kindled by it. "nd he made hea en incline and came :sic; down, and thick darkness was under his feet. "nd he rode upon cherubim and flew! he flew on the wings of the wind. "nd he made darkness his hiding place. "round him was his tabernacle# dark water in the clouds of the air. "t the brightness of his presence, the clouds shed hail and fiery coals. "nd the Lord thundered from hea en, and the 2ost High made heard his oice. "nd he sent forth his weapons and scattered them, and with repeated lightning strikes he routed them! "nd the sources of the waters appeared, and the foundations of the world were re ealed at your rebuke, 1 Lord, at the breathing of the breath of your wrath. He reached out from on high and sei@ed me, he drew me out of deep waters. He will sa e me from my mighty foes, and from those who hate me, when they pro ed too powerful for me. They faced me on the day of my affliction, but the Lord was my defense against them, "nd he brought me out onto open ground. He will sa e me, for he is pleased with me. "nd the Lord will reward me according to my irtue# since my hands are clean, he will reward me. %or + ha e kept the ways of the Lord, and not departed wickedly from my (od. %or all his $udgments were before me, + ne er abandoned his $ust decrees, "nd + shall be blameless with him, and guard myself against my sinfulness. "nd the Lord will reward me according to my irtue, "nd according to the purity of my hands in his sight. 'ith the faithful, you will be faithful, and blameless with the blameless man. The chose you will treat as chosen! the per erse, you will turn aside. %or you will sa e a humble people, and chasten the eyes of the proud. %or you, 1 Lord, will light my lamp, my (od, you will light up my darkness. %or by you shall + be sa ed from bandits! and by my (od shall + scale the wall. "s for my (od, his way is perfect! the Lord-s sayings are pro en by fire. He is a protector of all who hope in him, for who is (od, but the Lord, "nd who is (od e/cept our (od) +t is (od who girds me with strength, and has made my way blameless# 'ho strengthens my feet like those of a stag, and sets me securely on high. 'hile teaching my hands the arts of war, you ha e made my arms like a bra@en bow. .ou ha e made me secure in my sal ation, and your right hand has sustained me.

"nd your training upheld me to the end, and your discipline shall teach me. .ou ha e smoothed the way beneath me, and my footsteps ha e not faltered. + will pursue my enemies and o ertake them, and not turn back until they are destroyed. + will dash them to pieces so they cannot stand# they shall fall under my feet. %or you girded me with strength for war, and crushed beneath me all who rose against me, "nd made my enemies show me their backs, and destroyed those who hated me. They cried out, but there was no one to sa e them, e en to the Lord, but he did not listen. + will 9uash them like the mud of the street, and grind them as fine as dust before the wind. Eeli er me from the people-s wranglings! you shall make me head of the (entiles. " people + knew not has ser ed me. "s soon as they heard, they obeyed me. The foreigners feigned obedience! then their sons grew weak "nd came limping out of their paths :sic; The Lord li es, and blessed be my (od, and let the (od of my sal ation be e/alted. +t is (od who assured my re enge, and subdued the nations under me. .ou deli ered me from angry foes# .ou will e/alt me "bo e those who rise up against me. .ou will deli er me from the lawless man. Therefore will + proclaim you, 1 Lord, among the (entiles, and sing praises to your name, (od increases his king-s ictories, and shows fa or to Ea id, his anointed one and his seed fore er. Psalm 1A The hea ens proclaim (od-s glory, and the firmament declares the work of his hands. Eay con erses with day, and night announces knowledge to night. There are no speeches nor words in which their oices are not heard. Their sound has reached out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world. He has set his habitation in the sun who like a bridegroom comes out of his chamber, D/ulting like a giant about to run his course. %rom the outmost end of hea en is his rising, and his going down, to the other end of hea en. "nd no one shall be able to hide away from his heat. The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring souls! The re elations of the Lord are trustworthy, making the simple wise. The statutes of the Lord are $ust, gladdening the heart. The command of the Lord is clear, enlightening the eye.

The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring for e er and e er. The $udgments of the Lord are true, altogether $ustified. To be desired more than gold, and more than many precious stones. ,weeter also than honey and the honeycomb, for your ser ant keeps them, and in so doing there is great reward. 'ho is aware of his own transgressions) Purge me of my unwitting faults "nd against the sins of others, protect your ser ant. Lest they control me, then shall + be blameless, and + shall be cleared of a grie ous sin. ,o shall words from my mouth and thoughts from my heart be e ery pleasing to you, 1 Lord, my helper and redeemer. Psalm 1B 2ay the Lord hear you on the day of affliction! may the name of the (od of <acob shield you. 2ay he send you help from his sanctuary and aid out of ,ion, remembering all your sacrifices and pri@ing your holocausts. 2ay he grant you your heart-s desire and fulfill your e ery wish. Let us re$oice in your deli erance and magnify the name of (od# may the Lord grant all you ask. Now + know the Lord has sa ed his anointed one# he will answer him from his holy hea en. ,al ation is contained within the power of your right hand. ,ome boast of chariots, others of horses, but we will glory in the name of the Lord our (od. They ha e tripped and ha e fallen, but we will glory in the name of the Lord our (od. 1 Lo e, sa e the king, and hear us whene er we call upon you. Psalm &C 1 Lord, the king shall re$oice in your strength, and delight in your deli erance. .ou ha e granted him his soul-s desire, and not denied the plea of his lips. .ou ha e bestowed goodly blessing upon him, you ha e set upon his head a crown of precious stones. He asked you for life, and you ga e him length of days fore er. (reat is his glory because of your sal ation. .ou will gi e him splendor and ma$esty, for you will grant him fa ors for e ermore. .ou will gladden him with the $oy of your presence, for the 7ing-s trust is in the Lord, "nd through the mercy of the Highest, he shall not wa er. Let your hand seek all your enemies! let your right hand find all those who hate you. .ou will make them burn as in a bla@ing furnace when you appear to them.

+n his wrath the Lord will confuse them utterly, and fire shall consume them. .ou will bar their offspring from the earth, and their seed from among the sons of men. %or they plotted e il against you# they de ised a plan they could ne er fulfill. %or you will put the remnant to flight, and you will fi/ your ga@e upon them. Be e/alted, 1 Lord, in your power# we will sing and praise your mighty deeds. Psalm &1 1 (od, my (od, gi e heed to me# 'hy ha e you forsaken me) The tally of my sins puts sal ation far from me. 1 (od, + will cry out to you by day, but you will not reply! by night, and there is no relief for me. But you, the praise of +srael, dwell in a sanctuary. 1ur fathers hoped in you, they hoped, and you sa ed them. They cried out to you, and they were freed, and were not disappointed :sic; But + am a worm, and not a man, a disgrace among men and the scorn of the people. "ll who saw me derided me. They made faces, they wagged their head# *He hoped in the Lord# let him deli er him! let him sa e him since he is pleased with him.* %or you are the one who brought me from the womb, my hope since + was a suckling. + was committed to you at birth! you are my (od since my mother-s womb. ,tand not away from me, for trouble is at hand, and there is none to help. " herd of bulls has surrounded me, powerful bulls ha e beset me. They ha e opened their mouth against me, as a ra ening and roaring lion. + ha e turned into water, and all my bones are racked! 2y heart has become like melting wa/, turning to li9uid inside me. 2y strength has gone dry as a potsherd, and my tongue is clea ed to my throat, and you ha e brought me down to the dust of death. %or many dogs ha e surrounded me! they assembly of the wicked has encompassed me. They pierced my hands and my feet! they counted all my bones! they obser ed me and gaped at me. They shared my garments among themsel es, and cast lots for my cloak. But you, 1 Lord, do not delay my help! hasten to my aid. Eeli er my life from the sword, my only life from, :sic; the claws of the dog. ,a e me from the lion-s maw, and my lowliness from the horn of the unicorn! + will declare your name to my brethren! +n :sic; the midst of the assembly, + will sing praise to you. 1 you who fear the Lord, praise him! all you seed of <acob, glorify him! offspring of +srael be in awe of him, %or he was not aloof, nor did he grown angry when the poor made their plea, Nor has he turned his face away from me. but :sic; when + cried out to him, he heard me. +n the great gathering, you are my boast! + will make my ows before those who

fear him. The poor shall eat and be satisfied, and those who seek the Lord shall praise him. 2ay their hearts li e for e er and e er. "ll the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord. "nd all the families of nations shall worship before him, %or the Lord-s is the dominion, and he rules o er the nations. But the meek shall inherit the earth, and re el in abundant prosperity. The sinner shall obser e the $ust man and gnash his teeth at him. But the Lord shall laugh at him, since he foresees that his day is coming. ,inners ha e drawn their swords and bent their bows to cast down the poor and the needy and slay the upright of heart. But their swords shall pierce their own hearts, and their bows shall be broken. The little the $ust man possesses is better than the great wealth of the sinner. %or the arms of sinners shall be broken, while the Lord upholds the $ust. The Lord knows the ways of the sinless, and their inheritance shall be fore er. He remo ed the south wind from hea en, and stirred up the southwest wind by his power. "nd they professed lo e for him with their mouth, but lied to him with their tongue. %or their heart was not set upon him, neither were they true to his co enant. But he is compassionate, and will forgi e their sins, and not destroy them. His praise endures for e er and e er. Psalm 111 Blessed is the man who fears the Lord# he will find great $oy in his decrees. His seed shall be powerful on earth# the generation of the upright shall be blessed! (lory and wealth shall fill his house, and his righteousness shall last for e ermore. %or the $ust, he is a light risen out of darkness# he is kind and merciful and fair. The good man is one who pities and lends# he will run his affairs with sound $udgment. %or he shall ne er be made to wa er# the $ust shall be remembered fore er. He shall not be afraid of damaging rumors# his heart is ready to trust the Lord. His heart is steadfast# he shall not fear until he can gloat o er his enemies. 'hat was it, 1 sea, that made you flee, and you, <ordan, that made you re erse your flow) "nd you, mountains, why did you skip like rams, and you, hills, like lambs) The earth trembled in the presence of the Lord, in the presence of the (od of <acob :sic; 'ho turned the rock into pools of water, and flint into fountains of water. The hea en of hea ens is the Lord-s, but he has gi en the earth to the children of men. The dead will not praise, :sic; you, 1 Lord, nor any of those who go down to Hades!
